The segments shown here were actually parodies of the "Pfft, You Were Gone" routine. In the regular skits, it was usually one of the cast members (I forgot his name) who would stand next to Archie Campbell while looking the other way, or sleep while leaning on Archie's shoulder, as the latter would sing a verse from the song. After doing so, he would signal his friend, either by poking him with his elbow or with whatever farming tool he had in his hands, and the two of them would sing the chorus: "Where, oh where are you tonight," etc, etc.

Isn't that the truth. When television had good strong male role models. And all the insinuated messages were about family and being good and doing the right thing, being a good person being honest and moral and contributing in a positive way to society
I miss it so bad! I loved being a kid sitting on the floor watching hee haw laughing like a nut and dancing like crazy to the music.😊 Now i have my cable cut off because theres nothing worth the money to watch!
Saturday night I Watch He hall that was the best show to watch roy clark Buck Owens junior sample and goober.I left my head off. That show and meeting pearl made me laugh.I missed that show so much. And All the The gang on the show Is red And Conway Twitty, that was the best thing I've ever heard they had Alabama. I want to thank the people put dead on the show later.I'd like to watch it
I didn't, but Hee Haw was my favorite, I watched it every time it was on. But the "Gloom Dispair and Agony on Me" song was my absolute favorite because it's the theme song for my life!!
I loved sitting with family watching Hee Haw on Saturday night. Was lucky to Archie Campbell as a dinner guest at our home one night. He was the cousin of my mom's best friend. He was so down to earth, kind, and had us entertained for hours with stories from the show. A memory I will always treasure.
Did this once at a karaoke party. Could not figure out what to sing after a couple of songs and a few drinks so I looked one up on TH-cam on the phone. Brought laughter and memories to the house.
Archie Campbell first performed it live on the Porter Waggoner show in 1969 with two of Waggoner's regular singers. That version was phenomenal. Campbell really took this little ditty to the next level on Hee Haw with the costumes, original lyrics, harmonies, etc. On Hee Haw, it was first performed with Gordie Tapp on a weekly basis. It then morphed into where the guest stars of each episode would be Campbell's foil. Even with all the hilarity, the singing and presence was phenomenal. This compilation was well made.
RIP Archie Campbell, I have said for years that you were comedic gold. You were probably the most underrated funny man in all comedic history. You are very much missed and I still wish some network, any network would pick up Hee Haw and show the reruns of this masterpiece in all it's simplistic genius.
When the Circle network came out in 2020 they played it every day at 1pm. I was just diagnosed with stage 3 cancer and I tell you what...that got me through! We all need to contact them to put it back on. I already have
This reminds me of weekends spent with my uncle, aunt, and grandmother watching HeeHaw. And my uncle telling stories about going to school with Roy Clark. Simply the best time of my life... Rest in Peace 🕊️ to those who've gone on ahead. 👵☮️🖖

I loved this show. After football practice was over we always had to run off the practice field till we got past our game field and we always sang the chorus of this song “Where oh where are you tonight.”❤ 1973-76
We watched it as a family. It was entertaining and clean enough for everyone to enjoy. Brings back such wonderful memories of singing and laughing together. And not one person was staring at a phone!
Back in the day, everyone took a bath on Saturday evening. 🙋♂️ You were probably about 10 years old and got up around 8 o'clock that morning to watch Scooby-Doo, The Pink Panther and Josie and the Pussycats. And eat Honeycombs cereal.
We watched HeeHaw as a family, all huddled around the tv. My Mom would bust up so hard with this song. It was her favorite, along with "slopped her dripper". She was from San Francisco and Hollywood, but she married a Kansas dirt farm boy, so she'd indulge in country stuff, never mocking it. The last of CBS's Country Broadcasting days, the final hold out was Hee Haw, and it was not going down without a fight and a knee slap.
Oh wow Im surprised they couldnt get Carroll O 'Connor to do that with them' He used to do the pfft thing on All In The Family and it just cracked me up!
Watched Hee Haw when I was a kid, this was one of the best segments because you never knew who it was with their back turned.

Rest in peace Loretta Lynn and Johnny cash
