I've been a Pro Stock fan since the early 80's and this is the first time I've been able to see under a valve cover. I did see Bob Glidden's from a long ways off and I remember the exhaust rocker was very long. Thanks to this team for letting us take a look.
I can't believe how cavalier and transparent Matt Hartford is in showing his 1480 hp 500 inch fuel injected Pro Stock Car. The TB and intake tube are spec parts but the intake manifold is up to each team--low how the intake manifold is completely shrouded. What is interesting is how the cream of the crop with NA 2-valve engines is a tiny "peanut" chamber with splayed and canted valves. Hemis don't work in NA combinations--not NEARLY as well.
I have to say and from someone who has chaned more sets of valve springs then would like to have that showing somthing like this showing this in deep to just how and WHY its changed is so great and i thank you so much for doing thing...this is why nhra is awsome and nascr is mediocre because the fans do matter in NHRA
THE BODY SAYS CAMARO AND THE ENGINE IS A FORD CLEVELAND BASED MOTOR. THE DRCE - DRAG RACE COMPETITION ENGINE WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A BIG CUBE FORD CLEVELAND ENGINE BUILT IN 1983 WHEN GM HAD THE NHRA MANDATE THE "500" CUBIC INCH RULE. THIS IS THE REASON FORD DOESN'T PARTICIPATE IN PROSTOCK RACING.
Great of Matt to do these vids but unless they bring in knew rules and bring diversity back I e Ford Dodge Chevy fighting it out pro stock will die and Factory stock will take over with the fans and no fans no class
Love seeing this stuff. Gets the fans vested in the cars.
Really cool to finally see more into secret side of Pro Stock. Keep these videos up

AWESOME, Prostock is the best class in all dragracing 👍👍👍👍
Pro Stock...not to be confused with Pro Summit, where Greg Ander$on "wins"... ;-)
It was very cool of them to show this, we the fans want to see more inside lessons like this!!
Thank you NHRA for sharing with us and thank you Matt for the lesson sir.
Great video, I have been involved in drag racing since the early eighties. I love the mechanical aspect especially prostock
Matt's a great guy and a winner!

Thanks guys love seeing this stuff!!!
Are the new spring pressures checked before installing them? I was always told to check new springs at the installed height before installing.
We love these videos!
Love it !!
Glidden or WJ would have shown all but 15:57 of this video.
Are you using Tiatinum valve locks, hence the neddle nose to remove the keepers???
Ha. I thought the same thing.... bet he can't grab those keepers with a magnet.
The secrets of Wayne county never to be revealed!!
There's no secrets in pro stock anymore you can buy every thing at jegs stores one size fits all
Most these pro stock guys now days don't know the difference between a piston and a pancake

Dodge makes 80 more hp than the Chevy at 11500 so put a 10500 limiter Ford dead at 10000 sounds fair to me
