    Who would have thought that a 7-year-old video would be helping me with a project? Thanks!

    Great one, it helped me to quickly dismantle my D630, figure out that the fan was full of dust, clean it up and get it back working. It used to stop working due to high temperature with the cap led blinking...

      Very informative and interesting but I just wanted to know about where the memory card went

      @@gina1114 sorry I can’t respond to that question, I don’t remember and I don’t have that computer now

    thanks dude, would not succeed without you, its too complicated for the amateurs to dismantle, it was a breeze with your tutorial and I removed top plastic cover way faster than you ;)
    Best wishes !

    Thanks for this video; my GPU was acting up and splitting the screen horizontally, and the fix required reflowing the solder with a heat gun (or an oven if you don't have one). Would have had no idea how to get at the chip without breaking something if I hadn't found this video.

      @ Phoenix The GPU is a classic problem in these. You can only 'reflow' it. Do ensure it's well cooled afterwards.

    Helpful video that doesn't miss anything important. Shame it seems a bit out of focus !

    Thank you!! Now I know how to clean out my fan, I might need to replace it too. Thanks again!

    Upgraded the CPU in a "Dell Latitude d630 Laptop"..... I think I Toasted my display, ....I took the battery out, but didn't hold down the start button down for 20 seconds to get juice out before working on it. Then I upgraded CPU, now display has vertical & horizontal lines running thru it,.... went back to old CPU and same problem, swapped out the motherboard & same problem,... installed a new cable from motherboard to display, same problem, hooked up a VGA desktop display, & that one was fine,... So I think the display is Toast!.....Help?....Any Ideas?

    You should've held done the power button after it was unplugged and the battery was removed, just to get rid of the charge.

      Yeah, if you want to be 'perfect' ! I've sometimes swapped parts out and then realised the battery was still in ! I've not broken anything yet though.

    My D630 isn't doing anything when I turn it on, except that the fan turns on and the power LED as well. There is no hdd in it, but it has to go at least into the BIOS, right? screen remains black, no LED lights except for the power LED. RAM is not the problem, already changed it. How to determine if it's the CPU or the graphics card?

      Gpu failure - known fault on the Nvidia Gfx chip - Reball or reflow to fix it!

    • @grahamstevenson1740
      @grahamstevenson1740 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That figures. It's a typical problem on these. If you don't see the BIOS regardless of anything else, it hones the issue down to a very few things such as any of various display problems.
