    Okay, my second Latitude D630 with a no boot issue started up again using this simple technique. I inherited a couple of older laptops from someone in the area, two of them wouldn't boot up. This particular laptop had been sitting for years, no backlight, and had only a couple lights when pressing the power button, but no DELL logo. After doing the same power on / off / power on / off / power on, this morning it started coming alive again and booted up okay. After it booted up it showed the config error message, but that was related to no date / time set. After setting the date / time the computer worked great, it is working again. Spent zero dollars to fix it, only a handful of patient minutes. My oldest son was next to me and he said 'oh that is so stupid it isn't going to work', and then within a few minutes it booted up. Ha ha... I'm convinced that this is a good option to wake up a dead computer. Just gotta be very patient, and keep trying.

    I had the same problem on dell inspiron 6400. Spent one hour as explained in this video but no success. Problem got resolved by taking out RAM from laptop and insert it again. Make sure that you insert it fully. I think before I inserted not fully and got bloody hell issue. Thank GOD it got resolved.

      Lol that should be the first thing you should try, along with taking out and replacing other cards and battery, and doing the anti static power button press.
      And if none of that works you should try my method.

    for future reference you can actually pop the hard drive out of the computer on the left side without even taking it apart. you just have to remove one screw on the bottom. its located on the front left side of the computer. I popped my ine and put it in anothe rdell d630 and it ran just fun. so you can run the hard disk on another d620 or d630. and these days you can buy that computer for like 80-100 bucks. so worse case scenario you can get your data back for 80-100 bucks just buy a new d620-d630 ( used new )

    • @oraclescave
      @oraclescave  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      sahil tafseer I'm not sure, you could try...
      Pulling out your battery and holding the power button down for a minute.
      Or trying to log on in safe mode and update your date and time on the calender.
      Or your bios might need updated.
      Only take updates from your laptop's company, don't take them from any other sites or links.
      Dell has everything you will need.
      Try running with battery out and power supply in, to see if it works
      Could possibly be battery issue also.

    I’m having a similar issue with my old 2004 dell latitude. With my issue I plug mine in and it won’t turn on at all now. Just the battery light flashes in red. I keep pressing and pressing the power but as it used to eventually power on but now it just stays dead. 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @oraclescave
      @oraclescave  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @Our.Childhood.Commercials yes that happened to mine, it just refused to turn on and the battery was also red.
      The battery will be your new issue, so even if you got a new battery you might still find it hard to get going again.
      Unless you can find someone else with the same laptop to try and charge your battery, or borrow the battery to get your laptop going so you can save or transfer all your information out of the laptop.

Even the power supply led went out, only had the red battery light. Reconnected the power supply now the lights are green. Still shuts off on boot. Going to leave it alone for a bit and see.

    Dear,
    I have same problem with same model. Where is the problem? Is this Battery Problem or Motherboard problem ?

    • @oraclescave
      @oraclescave  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nobody has any idea, some say it's the power Jack in the back of the laptop, others say its the motherboard.
      I personally feel like it's a capacitor on the board somewhere, because doing this method seems to charge it up into working, sort of like jump starting a car.
      But the fact that plugging in the power cable can make it die, does point to the power Jack.
      Unfortunately I font have a solid answer for you, best thing to do is try this method a few times in the hope it will turn on so you can retrieve any stuff you have stored onto a flash drive or something.
      But as far as I know nobody has a fix for it, and the price for a computer technician to check it out, you would be cheaper buying a brand new high spec laptop.

      That's what the video was for, it shows you what to do, just press the power button to turn on, and when the light goes out, just press the button again.
      Make sure your battery is fully charged, and do not leave the power cable connected when trying to turn on, make sure only charged battery is connected when trying to turn on.

    Still on d830 xp original... I could guess what it could be but it would only be a guess... anyway, if your drive is not encrypted, you can slave your drive by another computer directly or by dongle to access your data... if you have a 2nd laptop you maybe able to swap the drive. Killing the laptop with power supply means you have a short on the board ... usually a capacitor.. considering the other symptoms it's probably a can.. too late for you but someone may need the info.. ebay sometimes has cheap motherboards you can swap... just be careful of static.. other videos can explain

    It looks like the laptop is a bin job but all your pictures and files etc will be stored on the hard drive which simply slides out the laptop Base. Plug this into a hdd/USB cable then plug it into a working computer and retrieve your files. A ten minute job that won't cost you more than a £5 for the connecting cable.

      @SeanChrist-i5e not sure if you need a new battery, my computer had a blown capacitor on the motherboard that caused the problem.
      Charge your battery then check power level on battery pack by pressing the button on the battery.
      If your charger is not working try changing the fuse on your charger.
      But if you have the same problem as me, you might have a damaged capacitor on your motherboard.
      The only way to fix is computer repair shop, my one was going to be too expensive to repair so I just bought a new laptop.

    • @oraclescave
      @oraclescave  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you mean.
      I didn't notice any heat while doing this.
      But it is suspected that a capacitor is being charged up on the motherboard, allowing the start up of computer, but no heat or dodgy hot parts.
      Perfectly fine to try.

      Full battery is the only way.
      Maybe you could make a battery, possibly find a battery with similar power and use wire to connect the terminals.
      But buying a battery would be much better idea, I can still order and buy anything I want from Ebay, this may not be an option for you depending where you are located, it could become very expensive to have delivered.
      Which means you might be stuck until you can get hold of a battery from your nearest seller when possible.

    Follow the steps below:
    Turn off the machine and remove all attached accessories.
    Make sure there is no power supply connected to the machine (if the battery is removable, remove it as well).
    Press the on / off button for about 1 minute (nothing will happen to the device during the process).
    Reconnect the device and turn it on.
    Soon, the power drain process will be completed successfully.

      I did not need it after this, the point of the video was for people to be able to access the computer and get to important files or school work that was lost when machine stopped working.
      Or priceless pictures and videos stored on device.
      Just a lifesaver, not a permanent fix.

    Hi there, a quick note in the hope that it helps someone out there - I had a D620 with these exact symptoms, tried the method here and unfortunately it didn't work for me. So I opened it up and determined that the SMD capacitor labelled PC252 had shorted (the tall one near the power inlet, you can see it poking through the palm rest, next to the CMOS battery, with just the keyboard removed). PC252 is a 100uF 25V electrolytic, in case the markings aren't clear. I replaced that with a new capacitor and the D620 burst back into life :) Hope this helps!

      @@tomaspena56 Hi, not specifically, no - I got hold of a schematic for the D620 and followed the 'power path' (page 46). Fortunately for me PC252 was pretty early in the chain so I found the problem quite quickly. Good luck!
