    You’re the first guy I’ve seen say stuff like you have so many ratchets because you collect them and don’t act like you use them all all the time lol

    • @TxToolGuy

      lol i mean come on, who can actually use all those ratchets 😂 granted i have used them all at least once to see how they feel. but i got 2-3 ratchets that are my daily drivers

      I can't believe how people uses ratchets having cordless ones. I really use the cordless ratchet most of time, i use the regular ones for higher leverages and such, but that's like 15% of the time.

    If I could have a dream setup it’s this. The black and green is sick and I am trying to get everything in black and green but for now just starting out in the dealership (Chevy/Cadillac) been here about 6 months and I am digging it. Never worked in the automotive field because I didn’t want to turn my hobby into work and then lose the interest of working on my own stuff. I should have done this sooner not when I’m 30. But we all live and we learn.

    • @TxToolGuy
      @TxToolGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      i was in the same boat man. i turned my hobby into a career and was afraid of getting burnt out, and i eventually did. but what saved me was simply changing who i worked for. i went to a different dealer and found that things were better elsewhere. and now working on all makes and models helps keep the job interesting and different everyday

    • @TxToolGuy
      @TxToolGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      there are 2 reasons i do those combos. 1) i started with snap-on power tools when i was an apprentice, and i already had the battery line. 2) i had dewalt at the house for home stuff so it made sense to go mac/dewalt at work. everyone who says “milwaukee is better or more powerful” doesn’t realize that you don’t necessarily need all the beans. living in texas and working on toyotas you don’t need 1000ft lbs. sure it’s nice, but my stuff works just fine lol

      ROFLMAO I ve spent less than $200 for tool storage over the last 15 years. I use plastic tubs with separate ones for metric and U.S. wrenches and sockets. The ratchets are in a Christmas popcorn can
      I have MORE tools than this guy does, and well over 400 pounds of fasteners, metric U.S. and screws arranged by size in coffee cans and occasionally a bucket.
      I dont understand anyones mentality of paying such ignorant money for a toolbox. I could restore an older car for less money.
      Ive been repairing vehicles long before this kid was born......1972

    • @tommyk1073
      @tommyk1073 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@donreinke5863 well,there are professionals and those DIY’ers..if you desire plastic tubs, more power to you. But any mechanic whom I saw working out of a plastic tub, well I think I’d just walk away. Some of us like to have nice toolboxes because we care…BTW, I was also born in 1972, age has nothing to do with one’s ability.

      And yes, I still do it for a living.
      Care about WHAT?....Spending a ton of money for no real benefit? Im not..and never have been....a tool worshipper.
      Ive made my own automatic transmission clutch piston return spring compressor instead of buying one for too much money.
      Can YOU even rebuild transmissions?..because the vast majority of those who do general repair wont go near a transmission, automatic OR manual.
      Ive ALWAYS done things MY way, and Ive repaired vehicles others could NOT.
      I would WANT you to walk away, my services are reserved strictly for those with some common sense and those who are seeking someone who isnt part of giving mechanics a bad name.

    Your right about having so many pliers. I have a drawer full but I work industrial maintenance. That’s also the reason I have the much hated adjustable wrenches but I deal with alot of bigger stuff. Capri is a good brad but their ratchets suck. I tried them out and then took them home and threw them in a drawer never to use again. It is nice having a drawer full of ratchets even though we have our favorites. Funny thing is I only thought us maintenance workers owned so many toolboxes at work. Lol.

    • @TxToolGuy
      @TxToolGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      so the icon handle is slightly larger than the snap-on so you have to drill the grip out slightly. all you do is put the ratchet in a vise and use a lady foot to pry the old handle off. then use a rubber mallet and tap the new one on. sometimes they are stubborn, i’ve heard of guys getting boiling water and dipping the handle in there but never personally done that method. usually just beat the crap out of it lol

    There will come a point when you need to take the tools out of the socket, screw driver, plier, and any other thin plastic it came in. I kept mine in them for a while till I kept running out of room in my box. I have a master triple bank with hutch and overhead locker. 3 large roll carts.

    Just getting into the profession and am a little confused about the difference between a certified master technician and a certified expert technician if anyone could explain this difference that would be much appreciated also sick box and love the honesty of "I just buy this cause it looked cool" gotta respect that as a newbie.

    • @TxToolGuy
      @TxToolGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so as far as ASE goes. there’s ASE certified and ASE master certified, and ASE master diagnostic certified. but when you work for a dealership like i did, there’s levels. Maintenance, certified, expert, master, master diagnostic, as far as toyota is concerned. and those certifications are based off a combination of ASEs and manufacturer specific training. So you can be an ASE master but not a Toyota Master until you complete all the toyota specific classes that the dealership will send you to
