My 1990 RamCharger..(sat for 12yrs).same thing, I had to rebuild the fuel pump, new plugs, new wires, new coil, replaced the injector o-rings......had it going in a month and a half I bought it one year ago yesterday for $500.......I DIDNT GIVE UP
These are the stories that give HOPE! To the needy..such as myself. One day I’ll mess with it some more, just lost patience and ended up buying that other one anyway 🙄
I just rescued an 88 ramcharger from the junkyard. Man good luck with trying to find a fuel pump assembly for that..they don't make it no more but luckily I was able to find one from a 90 Dodge truck lol. Now she runs great
One common problem I ran into with the throttle body style 318 engines is that the cam sensor that replaced the electronic pickup would corrode causing rust to collect on the sensor and preventing it from reading.
My 89 was garage kept by the original owners and the 2nd ones had it sitting in their back yard almost has 60 thousand miles didn’t have to do a thing but after having it driving it daily it has minor issues I mean its 35 years old so it’s bound to happen
Well, that was one hot engine there. Like the old Kenny Rogers song goes "You got to know when to hold them, know when to fold them. Know when to walk away and when to run." I'm sure a little more digging, ok, a lot more digging would've gotten the other Ramcharger in line... but in the end, you still won. Great video my friend! Blessings and respect!
That throttle body injection sucks my old 88 Dodge Dakota had that and that's what eventually killed the truck sits in my yard I actually mod is a carb onto the engine and it runs but it's still ain't on the road I just want to see if I can get it to run with a carburetor modify it on to it
Looks like the condition and the location I found my 87 in (you out in Bandera?) - the fuel sender really is the Achilles heel on these things, I had to get mine rebuilt by some old timer up in NY. The 5.9 magnum swap w/OD tranny does seem like the play with these though so that you can actually drive them around Texas with out a second mortgage.
As a matter of fact yes. Bandera, Pipe Creek more specifically yeah that thing is probably my issue. I need to ditch it and throw a carb on it. True. This other one is 100% better being a magnum motor.
@@tcfinds right on - you're right next to the best biltong on this side of the Atlantic - Brett's, if you're not already familiar I strongly suggest a visit. I'll keep an eye out for another RC next time I'm at the ranch. Enjoy the spring and keep up the great work!
*Whoa! Look at that sludge in the tank!!* 😧 Crazy to see! That's cheating Tyler, you can't replace the whole vehicle! 🤣 Only kidding, I don't blame you for trading it off. The new Ramcharger is pretty sweet and sounds good. It'll look pretty sweet painted up and lowered too. Enjoyed the video my friend. Take care, be safe and happy wrenching 🔧🔩
I can't believe you gave up on the Ramcharger just because you couldn't get it running. Im redoing a 1991 Ramcharger that was burnt from the dash forwarding to the grill. But i don't like the plastic 91 grill so I'm putting a 89 grill in it and a computer delete. And a 360 small block. Everything will work even after the computer delete and the a/c will be in it along with the overdrive.
I struggled through watching this video and at the end, you can't get it running and do a bullshit switcheroo to a different car. What a waste of my time watchibg this crap.
She’s got the jack….Bon Scott would be proud.

I also have a 1990 ramcharger i am rebuilding. rebuilt all the fuel delivery system. it's running great now. only took a year haha
Right on *

Wow you got lucky! I had a time trying to get this work..didn’t happen.
One common problem I ran into with the throttle body style 318 engines is that the cam sensor that replaced the electronic pickup would corrode causing rust to collect on the sensor and preventing it from reading.
Good to know. I may mess with it again some day. Just got so tired of it.

Yes, if too much gas goes into a cylinder, it can bend a rod!

I still one year may try to get it going, I parked her in the back 40 to maybe wait for it’s way if it doesn’t become a parts truck first.
Definitely a southern truck, Ramchargers in my area rust completely out.

And I had a 90 dodge Dakota Long bed regular cab sport which had the odd am fm stereo radio with no clock or tape player lol
This is a good one

They old Ramcharger "Magnum" swap. haha I do love the Magnum in my '93 half ton.
It’s so nice having the “older” truck with more modern power.
I thought the issue was it had corn thistle hung in the codgulator valve😂
You know it still might have one clogged up in there!! 😆
Fix air intake plenum gakset on that magnum

Thank you partner! It was an easy trade off lol.
Can’t wait to find myself a older truck everyone wants a arm and leg for them😂
Both are beasts
Incansable la Dodge, saludos desde nuevo Laredo México
The multifunction channahammer lol
y’all have ram chargers in your areas?
A few
Motors were so simple to work on back then. You didn't need a degree in engineering to figure out your problem.
U could of just put a carb back on it make it easy just saying I don't like tbi

Gave up to get an episode. No time to keep digging. Maybe one year it’ll re-appear.
