I am very proud of you, for exposing that beautiful girl to listen to music with meaning and with a true message, since these days songs are no longer made like this. congratulations friend!
Lilly, you listened to the songs message and got it, hope you remember it. Good reaction. Steve, this song still makes me tear up a bit, powerful message. Sorry to hear about your brother. When my father passed, not sure if the last thing said was an argument, I look after my mom now and try to never let things she does and say get to me. Nothing worth an argument. Enjoy your day both of you.
Fantastic songs, amazing words obviously mean more the older you get! It was great that our favourite "mad Nigel Benn" year old listened and knew what it meant, she's a fantastic girl xxx
I remember this as big hit in the late 80s. "It's too late when you die." After my Dad died in 2015, I regretted that I hadn't asked him more about his time in Royal Marines (after the info was de-classified). In fact, I learned more about that during his funeral from a close friend giving a eulogy. I also knew nothing of his parents, whom I have no memory of, and who probably never knew my brother and I ever existed. I don't know why, but apparently, Dad lived with his grand parents before he joined the Marines in 1942. After the war, Dad didn't go home. He stayed with the Marines until he was married in 1957, until he was formerly discharged in 1967 aged 40. So many questions I wish I had asked Dad in The Living Years. BL. PS If YT takes this comment off, it'll really take the cake!
Its talking about the generation gab of us and our parents as teens and adults....the world changes so we may not agree and it puts a rock a ga0 between our forefathers. Never let some words thoughts divide you. Because its to late after we die to say we may have been both right ... Listen to your father Lilly. You are lucky to have him. This is what matters in life.
I love the fact that you shared this with Lilly. It's a song we should all listen to and take into our hearts - would the world be a better place??

Great tune but a little too heavy for a child to really understand.
