I'm glad this clip is here. I remember listening to this episode back when it first came out, and thinking "yeah, this guy seems cool, but I have no interest in Broadway musicals". Then I kept hearing about this Hamilton show, and I kept thinking "yeah, sure, whatever". Then that cast album came out, I listened to it, and I felt like the world's biggest idiot for not taking it seriously sooner. HOLY SHIT that thing is mind-blowing.
I love this so much because it is the McElroys and their best friend future-tony-award-winner-Lin-Manuel Miranda operating on some deepest level omega injoke shit that has transcended reality itself into a special sweet boy realm. Bless the McElroys and bless Lin-Manuel Miranda
Everything just came full-circle. When Hamilton hit it big, I thought for sure I had heard this guys name before. Now I realized that I had heard him, and loved him, on this show like a full year ago! Awesome!
There’s the “unless” bit in We Know, of course. I like to think the “King Louis’s head… super dead” bit in Cabinet Battle #2 is also inspired by MBMBaM. It sounds like something they might have said.
i love love love that the brothers early on had a celebrity among their listeners, and I'm so glad it's this celebrity and I'm so glad they became friends. honestly what a power friendship.
I cannot believe Griffin McElroy thought the Guys and Dolls version of "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat" was going to get people in a karaoke bar amped up.
Most people: The McElroys are so lucky that they got to hang out with Lin Manuel Miranda! Me: Lin Manuel Miranda is so lucky that he gets to hang out with the McElroys!

I gave myself a concussion by falling down the stairs at Hamilton. Why didn’t they advise me not to do that?? Also I really like the mbmbam references in Hamilton
I remember seeing a college production of Carrie the Musical, I don't recall a "hip-hop" number but the show was actually extremely good-I'm not usually one to cry at movies or plays but I was very close to tears by the final scene! However, it did strike me as a show that would be very difficult to get right-the iconic scene with the pig's blood being dumped on Carrie at the prom and the ensuing massacre via her telekinesis alone would take so much practice and thought to execute in a way that looked good and to make sure nothing went wrong, especially involving tech (I believe I read somewhere that in the original run there was a constant issue with the blood clogging up Carrie's mic?). The only disappointment I remember actually was the blood-the bloody look was mostly achieved through red lighting, but the actress also must've had some fake blood packets hidden on her that she opened/popped-but the disappointment was mostly because I'm such a fan of the movie and the book. I mean, I'm aware how difficult and impractical dumping an actual bucket of fake blood on her would be. So long story short? Great musical with great songs (my favorites are the opening song "In" and "And Eve Was Weak"), but very difficult to execute well-and even if the execution is okay, the audience still has the movie to compare it to.
this has nothing to do with anything really. but. the german Dance of the vampires is different from the broadway one. Not saying it is not over the top and ridiculous but apparently the broadway one is way more comedic but in a non funny way. And the story is not meant to be funny anyways so it does not really fit? Anna Fish “oh yeah, I’m working on this little musical called Hamilton.” Little did they know.

I agree with you but Lin had already won a Tony at this point.
YOU CANNOT IMPRESS JA'AM
God the disrespect towards In The Heights is palpable here
Lin was already just one award away from egot before Hamilton lol (he still doesn't have that oscar by the time I'm writing this comment and Im mad)
"You can come see Hamilton" yeah Lin, that sure is a funny joke.
@Aspiring Marauder it was popular then too, thats what I was talking about in my comment

Am I the only one who really wants The Adventure Zone The Musical???
Can it be like a 9 act musical because thats how many arcs are there in balance
Ah yes, with hit songs such as ‘what the heck is dnd?’ And ‘deep fried unicorn dick’
lin has to write it
but like,,,in the starkid avpm style it would be incredible
Holy shit, yes!
