You can't blame the Lurmen for hiding from the galaxy and war though. They're so small and vulnerable. As you say, they probably learned a lot of their fighting (or dodging) skills from the Amanin.

I don’t think Star Wars was criticizing pacifism. I think the general theme which Star Wars tends to address at times is that sometimes, fighting is just an unfortunate inevitability and that we all have the choice to remain seated or stand up against those who might as well take everything from you.
Pacifism is admirable and takes more strength to uphold than people realize, especially in the most difficult of times, but there comes a day where you will decide whether or not to take up arms and defend yourself and your home. Either way has a cost, so you ask yourself which price you’re willing to pay.
The things I mentioned aren’t even new. We’ve seen many of them in the Battle of Naboo. Besides, sometimes those who live for peace are the most dangerous when they put themselves into battle.

    • @madhatter1057
      @madhatter1057 ปีที่แล้ว

No pacifism is not admirable. Any person that can look at someone torturing and murdering a child and not be driven to fight is not a even an animal as even a beast defends its young. They are a bug not to be mourned when stepped on. They are allowed to live only through the actions of their betters or by being benith the notice of preditors. In short pacificts are wormy little cowards that should be kicked out of any civilized society and never defended. They are unwilling to protect the most vunerable then they dont deserve the comforts that such protection brings.

While Ti-Watt Kar is kind of stupid to just let his people die, I have to admit someone willing to stick to their guns and beliefs even if it leads to their own death or something has my respect.
This actually reminds me of the character of Villimax from Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. Yes really, and I am going somewhere with this. In the finale three parter, the main villain Trakeena had started losing her mind in her quest for revenge to the point when her loyal general Villimax turned on her and refused to follow her orders. So she started attacking him, but despite getting wailed on Villimax refused to fight back, because despite not agreeing with Trakeena's actions, he's still loyal to her, like a knight is to their queen, unwilling to raise their weapon against her, and if he did raise his weapon then he would lose his honor and beliefs and have nothing left to live for. So I find it admirable and honorable for a character like that to not sell out their own beliefs and stick to them regardless of what happens to them. Now, I think he could at least defended himself a little bit more instead of just getting wailed on, while still trying not to attack, so despite admiring and respecting Villimax I still think he was a little stupid here. The point is, there are simply certain things everyone has that they absolutely cannot compromise about themselves, and if they do then they are no longer themselves they have lost themselves and at that point victory and survival become meaningless because there is now nothing worth fighting or surviving for. So those that are able to stick to their guns and beliefs like that earn some admiration and respect in my book. Ti-Watt Kar is still stupid for trying to bring his people down with him, since she should bring others down with you because of you're beliefs, like Anakin told him, "You can stand by you're beliefs, but let us stand by ours."

@@randycheow4268 Yeah, he is a lot like Ecliptor in that they are both dark knights, they're evil, but they have standards. Although, in Ecliptor's case it's more out of fatherly love for Astronama, whereas Villimax is more just actually noble and honorable in general despite fighting for the forces of evil, since he's not really a father to Trakeena he's just a mentor. Although, I guess one could argue he's kind of like a father to her, since he stays by her side to assist her after the Rangers kill her father(the previous main villain of Lost Galaxy) when she becomes the new main villain and begins her quest for revenge.

I like this exploration of the Lurmen! Their spiritual aversion to violence and certain types of industrial development makes sense given their history.
Exploring pacifism through the Lurmen gave Satine Kryze's introduction some deja vu, but she became a much more complex character later. It would've been interesting to see the friction between Mandalore and the Republic if Kryze's pacifism was more active -- like taking in refugees from both sides, or sending aid to devastated Separatist and Republic planets who were ignored by their governments. They would've been doing what the Jedi no longer could, and that would've made for some fascinating interactions.

If the Lerman didn’t want to fight, that would’ve been fine if they had just, I don’t know move to another side of a planet I mean they’re on a planet not an island. Surely they could’ve found some other place. I mean granted the CIS would’ve followed them, but it would’ve come across a slightly more reasonable than “nope we’re just gonna stay here and die.“ it was almost like the Mandalorians. The later seasons were sort of a bottle to that. Yeah, they were pacifist, but they were willing to defend themselves to a certain degree as opposed to just lie down and say “that’s it we’re dead and we’re not gonna do anything about it.“

The Kipu-Men are a Race of small Human-looking people. Their Home world is unknown (because it’s not from the Star Wars Universe (but I won’t go into it)), and they usually live very nomadic lives, traveling from planet to planet, and system to system.
They, like the Lurmen, promote Pacifism, however, their approach to being Pacifistic is different to the Lurmen. While the Lurmen have permanent settlements, the Kipu-Men are always traveling, always on the move. This constant movement lifestyle is what allows the Kipu-Men to escape cataclysms like War and other horrible events.
The Kipu-Men do partake in Galactic Trade, as they hunt for minerals in Asteroid Felids of some systems, and using their large home ships, which serve as bulk cargo carriers, they collect enough minerals to sell to other businesses and firms, and they get lots of credits in exchange. Then they use the Credits they gained solely on Food and Fuel, and then the cycle continues.
Kipu-Men, when faced with danger, their main tactic is to Run away, however, if they find themselves cornered, then they will defend themselves. They have retractable Ion Blasters on their ships, which are designed solely to stun enemy ships, and not destroy them. The Kipu-Men will defend themselves by stunning their enemies, and after the enemy is stunned and cannot attack, the Kipu-Men will proceed to Escape.

Switzerland takes a very neutral stance in every war and refuses to fight. But they offer something back though. They offer a zone of medical treatment and quiet banking for everyone. This is why Switzerland is a good place as those who can help in battles can but those who can’t can do something useful. @@astercat49 The ultimate fates of Even Piell, Barriss Offee, and Adi Gallia, the characterizations of General Grievous, Quinlan Vos, and Asajj Ventress, when vehicles like the BARC Speeder and the Venator were unleashed into the war, the sheer strange variety of humor or the lack of it from the Sepper droid armies, and how the clones are bred for Order 66, for some examples.

@michaelandreipalon359 ok, but unless I’m mistaken, very few, if any, of those comics/books were directly made or influenced by George Lucas, so the Clone Wars is by default the actual canon. For example, the Grievous we see in the 2003 Clone Wars miniseries was created before George Lucas had actually decided on Grievous’s character, so the varying characteristics of Grievous we see before are the contradictions, not the clone wars version.

I respect not wanting to get involved in someone else's fight. Refusing to defend your people against attack, on the other hand, is utterly contemptible. Some consider defending those that won't defend themselves noble. I do not. Let them learn, or serve as an example to others.

There's a huge difference between neutrality and extreme pacifism. Jainism is the most pacifist religion on the planet, and even they permit self-defense when no other options are available. Tee Watt Kaa is a lot like Gandhi in that regard. During World War 2, he actually preferred Britain let Germany conquer them rather than fight back.

No offense to any pacifist around the world for they have very admirable traits and goals, but one must remember that there are individuals and group that do not care for their ways and will crush them for their ways for they are easy to crush. Many in pre-WW2 were pacifists for the trauma of WW1 and had many ideas of how to prevent future wars, and as Nazi Germany started to conquer their neighbors many of these pacifists from other nation refused to fight against Hilter egotistical and maniacal dream of creating a superior race. Sometimes, individuals must fight against evil for if they do nothing Evil will always triumph.
