I am Chinese living in Australia. I just went back to China in Dec 16 for a visit. What surprised me was that, these days, even in China, there are lots of electric taxi and share bicycle everywhere in the City. However, on the other hand, Australia as a developed county, has non of these. Whats more, government keeps pushing up public transit cost, giving less incentive for people to use these public transportation. Shame

burtlangoustine1 I wish my comment is state sponsored. I have to agree with you that suppression of freedom of speech in China is bad. However saying so that is entirely another issue. I have not been back to China for six years. It has really changed and to be better. That's why more and more overseas Chinese is moving back to the country. Hahaha indeed, if the Dutch government had put all the money from the selling of their natural gas in a fund (like Norway did), the yearly interest on such a fund would be larger than the current revenue of the gas fields. Actually Norway doesn't use the fund itself (or at least not to a great extend) but rather uses the interest generated by the fund to subsidise these projects.
On this day Norway is exporting their carbon footprint to fund their (actually very expensive) green conversion. When other countries finally catches up and the oil sales wanes the Norwegian green infrastructure will be already in place, and now they license out their technology to fund an even greener conversion. Smart move really.
Instead of spending our oil money directly, we put all the profits into a state run fund called "Statens pensjonsfond utland". We have a rule where we are allowed to withdraw 4% of the profits of this fund every year to spend on infrastructure. The reason for the 4% rule is to avoid inflation and keep the market stable.

Don't take too much of what we norwegians say seriously. We are spoiled to the point of delusion, with only 5 million citizens spread out over the landmass equivalent to Germany lol. No matter where you are in Norway, you can just walk 1 kilometers in any direction, and you're in some small forest, park or hill, we probably have the largest amount of national parks as well relative to a country's total landmass. The political debates are exaggerated and petty, because everyone knows there aren't any real problems, all the parties basically say the same things framed differently and get along with each other like friends, even if the are "supposed" to being in opposition. Just the sheer amount of people living in USA, India, China or even countries with lower population cause problems we don't even taste because we are so few. The average norwegian knows very little about how hard life is elsewhere in the world and the solutions they need
That's a nice problem to have..... i come from one of the most populated countries in the world and tbh most of our problems stem from the fact that we are so many. free education and healthcare are almost impossible! plus not everyone can have a job.
Yeah it's not like Norway brings in migrants cuz they how hard it is *Cough cough*. Like dude Norway had way harder times then the U.S. before the oil came. Many died at a too early due to poor life conditions. But then the oil came and we became one of the wealthiest countries.
@@LukeWR No. Almost everyone in Norway is quite rich. Like most of them earn $80,000 a year. And the Norwegian Government is favoring electric cars using their policies which makes Norwegians buy electric cars. So, any Norwegian can afford a Tesla after 2 years worth of savings.

You are basically making the traffic jams happen and you require valuable parking space in the city. people acknowledge that you sponsor the betterment of the service by paying for the bus ticket. in return we get safe, clean and friendly buses.
Go to a store in Norway, in USA a cola is like 1 dollar and in Norway it would be like 5 dollars. Welcome to Norway. Norway is a very expensive country.
@@nicolasmedina8207 Actually, in Norway, there is a publicly available database that shows who owns each car. You can look it up by the license plate number.
The fossil fuels don't cancel out this huge program done by the Norwegian Gov. Yes they do sell fossil fuels, but them using electric vehicles sort of reduces the impact of that.
+foreverseethe He was very clear about what he said, which was, developing countries need oil, all countries need power, our country can produce clean energy while others may not be able to right now efficiently. It's better to run your country on green energy and sell dirty energy than to run it on dirty energy and sell dirty energy.
Andrew De Jesus not really. Many countries use fossil fuels in exchange for just one country, Norway, to use green energy. I'm not criticizing Norway of doing so, as developing countries need an enormous amount of energy to become fully modernized.
As with any country there are political forces at play. On one side we are proud of trying to take care of our environment and pulling our weight, and on the other side most of the government here consists of economically conservative bureaucrats that are having a very hard time getting themselves to support other industries that will one day replace our dependence on oil income. One thing is clear: we can't suddenly stop selling oil. Economic conservatism is very good at building infrastructure that is expensive and requires little thought, and without having an income to support that infrastructure we will be set back 50 years. So we do intend to phase out oil, hopefully, and we do realize the irony. But things take time. We had our clean energy before we struck oil. I think most people here are relieved that oil is starting to become useless just by the advancement of technology and market forces, since that means we'll eventually have no choice but to adapt to it, which will force our politicians to actually act. All in all it boils down to: good people, bad corporations and politicians.
@@The_Horizon Here its mostly free, although there are some places where you need to pay for it, unless you have a tesla, and the tesla app. there a little screen on the charger where you can go on the internet and log into your tesla app, then chrage it for free. Just wanna clear 1 thing. It is actually not true that norways electricity comes 99% from Hydro its around 92% and the rest is wind, solar and biofuel.
@@danimy1 that's what it looks like... a trap. There is no information on the cost of consumption. Do you know for how long you are going to get this electricity for free?
@@freedomisbrightestindungeons No, we are rich because Denmark chose the wrong part of the sea when dividing borders, leading to us reaping the benefits of all the oil we found in the 1960s. And also because unlike Saudi Arabian countries, our government actually used the money to invest in stocks, and also to invest in the people. The government is also thinking long term compared to a lot of oil countries, there's a limit to how much oil Norway draws each year, and almost all the oil (if not all) is owned by the Norwegian government instead of privately owned companies. So yeah, it's because we got lucky, but also because we played it smart with investment and long-term thinking :)
No, no, no. If Norway would not exporting theyre oil, there will be definitelly some problem with democracy in Norway, some of these green men will not be happy with goverment becouse of that free electricity just like in Lybia.
If anyone did this in the uk people would just be trolls and unplug the cable or even worse just steal it and leave them stranded there would be a whole black market of tesla cables if there were enough.
When I was walking around Oslo two years ago I thought "this city is quieter than the public library". Only noise I could hear was a dude on a non-electric skateboard.
metaleggman18 would love to drive an old American car if I could afford it. We have American car clubs, with meetings and hang outs in the spring, summer and fall. In wintertime they usually stay in garages.
no, because it was a Tesla, you can't see the Camaro till he turns around. if that confused so many people it's no surprise America is in the spot it's in.
Yes, ironic, but could also be: sells oil, burns oil to power cars and power plants, does nothing at all about the environment. Oh, look, a description of the US!
America having lowered it's carbon footprint more than any other country is like a 350lbs man bragging about how he lost 150lbs and therefore lost the most weight...
I thought the same thing at first, but it wasn’t the Tesla that made that sound...it was the yellow Camaro sitting at the intersection that took off when the light turned green
So glad someone else thought about this too hahaha I assumed they dubbed in a V8 sound for the Tesla to look cool in the vid or something 😂 Like the Childish Gambino song where he raps about his electric Fisker while theres engine revving and then says in the song that fiskers really dont make noise 😂
Global warming is real. It is also real that fossil fuels has lead to a reduction of 99% in seventy years in climate related death. Fossil fuels make us safer from climate. Also car batteries are made from cobalt that is mined in Congo by children exposed to irradiation. How do you feel about that?
Bad vs Bad still Bad so Bravo ! We live in a terrible world where people seems to forget all the insanity arround fossil fuel and your use of number like magic sickens me.
Maybe after a point: electric cars will be so deeply-rooted into Norwegian culture & by that time, even if none of these incentives can be provided by the government, Norway will remain green. Solely due to the people being used to them & because a Tesla on its own provides incentives as well.
Free fuel should also help - or even if they decide to charge, electricity produced by hydropower is pretty darn cheap. As the cars get more common, their price will drop too, without any subsidies. Plus you will be more easily able to find them sold used.
That has always been the plant. To gradually reduce the benefits over time. They have already started that! They just use these incentives to kick start the electric car sales. Once Electric cars in general becomes cheaper (especially batteries, or better battery technology) The incentives will go away!
most young people like students and other young people who are basically all unemployed cant afford cars, not even crappy ones. We walk around, for miles. I used to walk around 20 miles each day for over a year during my second bachelors degree. We end up unemployed in the end. No work in Norway.
I could have sworn that V8 roar was coming from the Telsa. I was like how is this possible. Than I remembered that there was a Camaro right in front of it lmao.
the tesla make virtually no sound as it is electric. a new rule has passed if im not mistaken that demands every owner of an electric car to install a device that creates a fake engine sound
Norway is doing it the exact right way, we should be using our fossil fuels to build renewable infrastructure while we still have them. It will be much harder once they are gone if we haven't built for it.
Grenherb Yeah, I'm also for things like biogas septic systems and more walkable cities to REDUCE the use of cars, encouraging people to buy localy grown food so that food doesn't have to be transported so far, passive housing to reduce unnecessary energy waste, among many, many other things. I don't beleive there is a single soloution to "climate change", I think the entire way we think about where energy comes from and how we use it has to change. But that's not to say that we will never figure out how to make electric vechles efficient enough to make a significant impact... Specifically, I'm not saying Norway has found the golden bandaid to "green energy", there is still a phenomenal amount of work to be done. I'm just saying they're way ahead of the game and at least they're making an effort.
they may that this time be producing twice as much as other petrol based engines but without people buying these cars there is very little R & D going into this area I'm not a big green person but one day fossil fuels will run out i don't know when or even close to know when, but it is a fact its a dwindling resource that we need to start coming up with alternatives because I know I'm not walking everywhere.
I totally thought that and then right after the clip he says "all electric" like he's being sarcastic. I almost believed that there are gas Tesla's in Norway.
In Norway there is this island called Finnøy located in Stavanger. This island is the place in the world with the highest amount of electric cars per citizen. The reason being to get to the island, you need to drive through an underwater tunnel. In the end of the tunnel there is a toll station which is super expensive (about 15$). But with an electric car, you don't need to pay this fee. Therefore almost everyone who lives on this island has sold their car for an electric car.
Ya Norway is loaded. I was in Oslo airport once and I realised after a minute that the floors were wooden. You know a country is minted when it has wooden floors in an airport.
ProGal is right. Resource costs vary by region. If you have a lot of trees, wood is cheaper. In Korea, where they are constantly building tunnels through granite mountains, you can find granite everywhere. Curbs are covered in granite tiles on many streets. The sides of many buildings are covered with granite tiles. Huge granite stones and statues are often used as decorations. Where I grew up, granite is very expensive. It is more abundant in Korea.
wrong, the wooden floors at the airport did not originate from the norwegian forests, but from eastern europe. very high quality put together by a company in denmark so you know its a fancy design. quite expensive at that. a floor made out of concrete would be cheaper, but we can afford it so why the hell not.
When a country is filled with smart people and run by smart people they make efforts to try to benefit them all. Yet we got stupid people fighting against each other on a drowning boat trying to figure out whose fault it is and who we should kick off the boat.
The cool thing is tax on everything is 50%, meaning that as an example a friend sends you 100 bucks too your bank, the government automatically deducts 50 bucks. Super cool! Btw the only reason there are teslas over there is because every normal costs 2x its normal price
Just FYI: The main political party leading this green shift is MDG, Miliø Parti de Grønne (Environmental party the green) But they are mostly referred to by the public as Miliø Parti de Galne (Environmental party the crazy) They want to stop all crude oil production today with no plans to replace our main source of income and the jobs it provides. They want to ban the sales of all non-electric cars today They want to prevent big trucks from driving into the big cities, and have the cago transported by bikes into the cities. Needless to say: They barely have any power within the government. They get less than 10% of the votes by the population.
Lance Wilson well gas cost a lot to tank a car and it’s bad for the Mother Earth, so electric car like Tesla is way more safe for the driver and doesn’t let any gas out, u can just charge free with battery in Oslo for 30 min and u can just drive for a whole day before charge. The only problem with Tesla is Tesla ain’t cheap but it has a lot of benefits
Not under a National government lol... They give close to 0 shits about the environment. All we do is produce emissions as normal and buy carbon credits from other countries. Our emissions are expected to increase by 2030, even though New Zealand’s pledge under the Paris Agreement is to reduce emissions by 30 percent below 2005 levels by 2030. There's even serious doubts about us hitting our 90% renewable energy target by 2025.
Oh may I recommend taking a look at The Opportunity Party's Climate Change policies then. It's surprisingly decent. Otherwise Greens are the obvious choice ahah ;) Super important to vote this election though. It's looking very close right now.
Yeah, EA through EU are still used on cars from Oslo. Originally EL (**El**ectric) was used, and then we ran out of numbers in the EL block, and are now moving backwards in the alphabet (EK, EJ etc). Eventually, electric cars will end up having ordinary letters when they become the majority.
EL, EK and EV are all reserved for electric cars. They decided to plan for a large amount of sales of EVs in the future, so they have 2 more "ranges" to go through.
Bjoern J I've seen one other in Europe. You could just export one from the US, it would cost you a whole lot less. The 2017 model is much better than older versions.
AlfBiology no, Tyler got it right. He spoke about more than one video. 'videos are great' is correct. "The quality of his videos is great!!" Would be wrong. S H A M E O N Y O U A L F
If we really want to get technical and nitpicky, AlfBiology is correct because the simplified sentence would be "the quality is great," since "of his videos" is just making the sentence more specific. Quality is singular, so you would use "is."
The videos are great, but i can say as a Norwegian that a lot of his facts in this video are wrong. Which may indicate that a lot of the other videos also have this. The Tesla model S can drive 0-100 km/h in 2,7 seconds not 3,1. We do not get tax deductions on our income tax by owning electric cars, we get tax exemptions on the purchase of electric cars. And these "subsidies" are not funded by the sovereign wealth fund.
Christine Luo By your logic one can say that both are right and both are wrong. "quality" is singular, but the rest of the sentnce is not singular. Really it comes down to the one interpeting the sentence. But as a final point I would like to make: The "quality" in the sentence is singular and then its followed by "videos" which isn't singular. And I would still argue that one should use the format of the lastly decided quality of said sentence when deciding to continue a confliting sentence. Aka, if the last noun which is being described by the sentence is singular or not singular, the sentence should remain as that depending on which it is. But I might be wrong, whatever, good day.

Circle Breaker people will always find something to complain about, even if that something is for free. just shows how ungrateful pieces of shits like you can be
In Norway, the tax on everything is really high, but normal cars have a tax almost as much as the original price of the car. (Essentially, you pay the price for the car two times) The electric cars, don't have as high of a tax, and end up ALL over the place, due to the way lower tax.
What you're saying is that it didn't cross your mind that we are living in one of the richest countries in the world and that most other countries don't have the same opportunities as us? *baffled*..
Norwegian government seems to be the smartest onу among other countries' governments. It really works to make sure peoples' life being better and prosperious. In terms of strategic thinking Norway has surpassed other developed countries like USA. Mainly, this achievement is due to well-considered policy in different areas from environment protection to elaborate distribution of financial incomes. It won't be a lie to say that Norway is the most advanced country when it comes to utilization of green technologies. By making its own country free of contaminations it much aids to the globe to become cleaner and people to live in the clean world.
Bektin Phail You are praising Norway for selling gas and oil to other countries so that they could use the money to appear sustainable. If every country adopts this practice, who would buy the oil and gas? Where would the money come from? Norway deserves no praise
Absolutely! It is ultimate hypocrisy! And perfect example how brainwashed people had become. And limited to... yet fell perfectly entitled to sit and speak all the big words.
Norway's policy seems to be like a drug sellers, don't get high on your own supply. Norway has an advanced enough infrastructure to make electric cars that run on green energy, it would be a waste to spend that infrastructure on producing better oil refineries, and definitely more harmful and unsustainable. Simply put investing money into green energy would cut the cycle. Meanwhile a lot of places in the world need oil and gas, simply because their infrastructure isn't developed enough. I'm not sure where else you expect to get that much cash from. After all they can only sell oil as long as they have oil to sell.
For a while now the Norwegian goverment has stared to export alot of our waterfall electicity to the European market, combined with less rain water and increased gas prices the wast majority of Norwegians except from in the north now pay a high price for electricity, and its not longer that much incentive to have Teslas as before.

As a fellow norwegian, I think Tor summed it up pretty nicely, without being too political about it.
Holm55 but he bullshitted his way through it though he didn't say a damned thing.

Maybe after a point: electric cars will be so deeply-rooted into Norwegian culture & by that time, even if none of these incentives can be provided by the government, Norway will remain green.
Solely due to the people being used to them & because a Tesla on its own provides incentives as well.
it's actually already happening, the government in Norway has had to significantly lower some of the benefits, especially in Oslo.
Amen! Its probably what they where after from the beginning.

Yeah, I'm also for things like biogas septic systems and more walkable cities to REDUCE the use of cars, encouraging people to buy localy grown food so that food doesn't have to be transported so far, passive housing to reduce unnecessary energy waste, among many, many other things.

24mrdanny Hmm Tru tru, not sure who I'm voting for but National sure as hell ain't gettin my vote!
Oh may I recommend taking a look at The Opportunity Party's Climate Change policies then. It's surprisingly decent. Otherwise Greens are the obvious choice ahah ;)
Super important to vote this election though. It's looking very close right now.
24mrdanny Thanks I'll check them out 😃
CandL Nah, New Zealand Is Already Car Heaven..
Same here in Fremont California where the Tesla factory is. There are Tesla's here everywhere.
If DJ Khaled was in this video every time he saw a tesla he would go ,"Another one".
Sayon Palit Best Comment Award.

Sayon Palit I like that!
Actually, only EL and EK plates mean the car is electric, not just all E plates.
Currently the only E-plates are EL and EK. So he's not wrong!
EK stands for "Elektrisk Kjøretøy", or electrical vehicle. The next on the plate(pun intended) is probably going to be EV
EL, EK and EV are all reserved for electric cars. They decided to plan for a large amount of sales of EVs in the future, so they have 2 more "ranges" to go through.
E-lluminati.

0:29 Wait what? Someone has a Camaro in Norway? That's actually bigger deal to me.
And that Camaro owner probably paid twice the price of a Tesla for it.
Rashad me in my camaro acctually! Haha Thats right. 165k dollar in norway... but so more fun! Only 3 of the bumblebee over here :)
Bjoern J I've seen one other in Europe. You could just export one from the US, it would cost you a whole lot less. The 2017 model is much better than older versions.
Rashad bumblebee is only made in 2010/2011. Will be much more worth in the future
Rashad well Cars costs about twice as much her in norway comperd to the USA
The quality of his videos are great!!
is* great.
If life is a game, my favourite region would be Norway, because of the soundtrack. These basslines man...
What the hell was the pitch for this series?
Johnny: Hey Vox Boss, pay me to fly around the world, where-ever strikes my fancy. I will vlog interesting stuff I find.
Vox Boss: ... ... Ok.
Circle Breaker Lol, yeah. Also wondered wtf he was doing.
nice work if you can get it
Circle Breaker people will always find something to complain about, even if that something is for free. just shows how ungrateful pieces of shits like you can be
Miloš Sinđelić Don't think he's complaining thoug
How is he complaining? This is awesome
In Norway, the tax on everything is really high, but normal cars have a tax almost as much as the original price of the car. (Essentially, you pay the price for the car two times)
The electric cars, don't have as high of a tax, and end up ALL over the place, due to the way lower tax.
Norway will be all Electric cars (no gasoline allowed) in a few years!
Heja Norge!!
That`s not correct
wrong
What about Ethanol, love? Brazil will be running on Ethanol when the gas prices soar for good, not eletrics.
Lorenzo Bolla de Oliveira nossa um brasileiro
No one noticed how this guy 4:20 looked like elon musk😂😂
Lol, i didnt know that Teslas was that wierd outside Norway!
Christine Grunert there not.. Everywhere in sweden to.. England 2
What you're saying is that it didn't cross your mind that we are living in one of the richest countries in the world and that most other countries don't have the same opportunities as us? *baffled*..
It's not necessarily that they're weird, it's just they're notably pretty rare compared to most other car brands
Christine Grunert They aren’t rare at all
I live in Denmark and they are freakin everywhere
okay Tesla and Norway obviously loves each other buT CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE AWESOME CAMERA STABILIZER/GIMBAL
Might be an osmo, really expensive but really reliable.
The share of new cars that are electric was 29.1% when this video was published. In 2019 it was up to 55.9%.
And limited to... yet fell perfectly entitled to sit and speak all the big words.
news flash: oil is not only used to make cars drive.
Arend Stompels At the end of the day the fossil fuel is used
Norway's policy seems to be like a drug sellers, don't get high on your own supply.
*Casually walks through graveyard*

For a while now the Norwegian goverment has stared to export alot of our waterfall electicity to the European market, combined with less rain water and increased gas prices the wast majority of Norwegians except from in the north now pay a high price for electricity, and its not longer that much incentive to have Teslas as before.
