I love how that melody is a recurring motif in other parts of the OST, too. That's great songwriting, especially for a game.
The background effect in the beginning at 0:11 and in the end at 2:11 make this track somewhat of a magic experience. 10/10 would go down by the river again.
Nothing immerses me more in a fantasy world than a ethereal soundtrack. Definitely made me stay in character creation reading all the text whilst the music kept me curious for everything this game can throw at me.
I absolutely love this. And I love how the “down, down, down by the river” part of the melody is in so many of the other songs. It really adds to the game!
This is already but will be ultra nostalgic in 5-10 years. We had no idea what adventure lays ahead of us when we heard it on a character creation screen for the first time.
Look after 25 hours of getting used to the Combat system , the partys strengths and weaknesses and finally beating the Goblin Lords, I can understand all the praise for this game is getting, its a masterpiece. And I havent even reached Baldurs Gate yet! You can see how much love and attention went into making it. The music just adds to it.
@JaceareenoThe only disappointing thing is you being a little gatekeeping shitstain. Imagine feeling superior because you played a game faster than someone else. Actually pathetic.
You guys did it again. Divinty Orignal Sin 2 blew me away with it's soundtrack alone, but BG3 upped the bar by about 10 levels. Can't wait to experience the rest of the game!
After I quit the character creation screen it felt wrong. Like I lost something. It's only after listening to this song again outside the game that I realised I had developed a mild case of nostalgia for a song I had just listened to. It's fascinating... It captures this feeling of melancholia, but also pushes you towards leaving your cherished home and going on adventures in the green meadows... Thank you for this, it's a great piece of music that I keep coming back to

I heard one line from this in the menu and immedeately knew I had to listen to it in isolation. Your work is wonderful, and whoever sung this did a fantastic job as well. Such an excellent game soundtrack.
No surprise these compositions knock it clean out of the atmosphere with how amazingly well done they are. Even after the hours of character creation, my party and I will still hum and sing this and I want to live as we explore and adventure. Between Divinity and Baldur's Gate 3, the music has never failed to evoke emotion and grip you into the adventure. A true harpy's song, if you will. One that I will gladly fail the wisdom save for.
I thought this was going to be Neil Young. Both your soundtrack, and Starfield's, are some of the best of 2023. Going head-to-head against Inon Zur and the London Symphony is going to be some kind of wonderful. You'll both be nominated for Best Score and Music at The Game Awards in December. See you in Los Angeles at the Microsoft Theater. May the best man win.

The background effect in the beginning at 0:11 and in the end at 2:11 make this track somewhat of a magic experience. 10/10 would go down by the river again.
It gives it a very mystical vibe
Nothing immerses me more in a fantasy world than a ethereal soundtrack. Definitely made me stay in character creation reading all the text whilst the music kept me curious for everything this game can throw at me.
I absolutely love this. And I love how the “down, down, down by the river” part of the melody is in so many of the other songs. It really adds to the game!
Especially when it is the tadpole telling you to just give up and give in. Cause that's what this song is about.
This is already but will be ultra nostalgic in 5-10 years. We had no idea what adventure lays ahead of us when we heard it on a character creation screen for the first time.
I was sitting in the character creation screen for hours, just vibing.
You're a legend, thank so much for music that you made! Today I'll start playing and I know that your music will give me unforgettable fellings!!
This is a top tier soundtrack, and the full version of this song does not disappoint. The covers are nice, but this is the GOAT.
The stuff of legends. Right Boo? 😁
@@auomi8762 *squeak*
@@jorvach9874 Haha!!!
I'm glad they made this song a leitmotif throughout all the game. It conveys much emotion through your journey.
@Jaceareeno To be fair he probably did Goblin camp after finishing everything else (without counting Githyanki Creche, it moves the story forward)
@Jaceareenohow is it disappointing?
This song is so romantic, and yet so mystical.
This one will age well. Thank you for sharing this with us all Borislav!
You guys did it again. Divinty Orignal Sin 2 blew me away with it's soundtrack alone, but BG3 upped the bar by about 10 levels. Can't wait to experience the rest of the game!
How did it go?)
Masterpiece. I have my complaints, but overall, game of the decade imo.
It's like they knew we'd spend hours in character creation, and this song on repeat is perfect to pass the time.
This song is stuck in my mind for days now, because I took like 4 hours to create my character with this song in the background. I love it
After I quit the character creation screen it felt wrong.
Thank you for this, it's a great piece of music that I keep coming back to
The character creator alone is better and more entertaining than most 2023 game releases.
So true my dear - Asterion
Facts
Starfield cough
Starfield is mediocre at best, lol.@@NecroMoz A big disappointment for a Bethesda game.
@@NecroMozStardated lmao such ass game i regret buying that...
I hope everyone involved with the creation of this song is able to realize how truly special it is.
This one is staying with me for a while...
(EDIT: I somehow missed that this seems to be the composer's channel! Incredible. I hope you and your collaborators are proud of what you've achieved with this game, Mr. Slavov - and thank you for sharing your outstanding talent with us all.)
Knowing that originally... this is your brain worm crooning to you to give up, give in, and lie down to await the transformation.... twists this song into something far FAR darker
That tadpole isn't the only thing stuck in my head
they have created a game, that is not gonna be matched ever, they just really created something, that is hundred times better than their competitors, this is just insane actually, usually you see a little improvements here and there, but this is just art in every way possible.
I like how throughout all the song there is this calm ambience, but in the end the sudden dread of the mindflayers come to light.
Being completely new to the series, just listening to this in the character creation menu made me realise a masterpiece of a game is coming up
Song brings tears to me with every listen, thank you
Man Borislav deserves soo much more recognition!
All the soundtracks from BG3 and Divinty sound amazing and fit their games soo perfectly!
I won’t be suprised if we hear his work in Cinemas etc in the future, great composer
You have no idea how happy I get whenever I hear that leitmotif elsewhere in the soundtrack. Good shit
in divinity original sin 2 lohse song made me instantly in love with the game, baldurs gate 3 is this one, instant chills when you hear it, Borislav you create the most magical OSTs that i have ever heard
The vocals made this song magical.
i come back to this song when i have a lot on my mind and well, in it.
The tadpole in my head keeps replaying this song over and over
And I love it 🎧🎵🎶❤
Fine work yet again, Mr. Slavov. I was so captivated by this beautiful piece when making my character, and I'm looking forward to what else I'll hear while playing. Hat's off to you, and keep up the good work!
Magical. That vocal performance is mind boggling
This song really got stuck in my head! Great melody, beautiful singing and great atmosphere.
This song has been stuck in my head since I started playing this game. Character creation section makes it so relaxing
Dev 1: Hey man, this is a pretty awesome song. We should probably save it for like, a super special emotional moment in the game.
Sven: Put it on the Character Creation menu.
What incredible songs this game has. Kudos to masterwork, after masterwork! Thank you for all the wonderful emotions you awoke with your tunes!
When you get that sting of this melody after downing an enemy in combat it gives me chills.
Best game of the decade. God bless everyone who contributed to the creation of this game.
I think a certain composer will get a *BIG* boost in popolarity thanks to this game.
Congrats Mr. Slavov and thank you.
почему в игры играем а не на фронте
I thought this was going to be Neil Young. Both your soundtrack, and Starfield's, are some of the best of 2023. Going head-to-head against Inon Zur and the London Symphony is going to be some kind of wonderful. You'll both be nominated for Best Score and Music at The Game Awards in December. See you in Los Angeles at the Microsoft Theater. May the best man win.
Starfield blows, beth fucked up by not having jeremy soule be the lead composer
I don't need some stupid event to tell me what's good in gaming or music.
Game of the Year and rightly so now to add this to my best video game music playlist.
Probably my new favorite leit motif to date. It just has such an emotional range from being soft and sweet in character customization/camp to loud and powerful during the main act bosses. Its just *chefs kiss*
Years from now I am going to hear this song again and I will cry for all the memories this game and your music has given me. I already cry now from the impact this music and game has had on my life. Thank you for your incredible work on this game and I am in awe of your musical genius.
I am a firm believer that music can make or break ANYTHING from movies, to games, and even life. This has only solidified my belief further that music speaks to the soul in a way that spoken words can't. Again, I applaud you and Larian for making art with a project that will continue to breathe and grow from the love and life put into it that it's seen so obviously in every aspect. I bow in adoration and respect. I am so thankful.
Character creating hasn't been this delayed since Skyrim. I like this song and esp the heroic instrumental version during combat situations.
this songs already nostalgic
I was about to say I hope it comes to Spotify soon, and I just saw that the whole album was added recently! Thank you for such an amazing soundtrack.
y’all are so lucky! i’m patiently waiting for it’s release on apple music.
Your music is just on different level.... mystical, enchanting, heart-touching.... could listen to it all day
This is unbelievably good. Thank you for all the feelings.
Sing for me touched places in my soul that I didn't know existed and you've done it again with Down by the river. Absolutely amazing.
I get chills every time i hear the melody. Thx larian
Yeah especially when you find out the meaning 😵
Game is a masterpiece, soundtrack is just amazing…
I will never forget these
I stopped what I was doing in my character customization screen, and had to just take it in... this is beautiful...
You did an amazing job on this and OS2.Thank you!
Really hope they do a live version at The Game Awards this year
This game is a masterpiece and one that will survive the decades most games will live in obscurity.
Listen to this made me play this game again & again😭
Damn you larian😭😭
.... i love this game so much! Larian thank you so much!
Because of this song when I ask my friend to play I just say “do you wanna go down by the river with me?” Don’t even need to say anything else 😂
This game is up there with Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect 1 for most memorable first time character creation experiences.
Amazing! Love the arrangement, the vocals, everything! The harp, especially!
3 Hours later: ''Ok, finally I'm ready to the adventure. Let's go, baby!''
Game: *''YOU NEED A GUARDIAN''*
''Wait, what... ?'' 😐
This is the main reason that keep me in the character creation menu for hours and never wanna leave... Thank you very much for this amazing creation.
This song is already super nostalgic and it's only been a year.
I fell in love this incredibly amazing song, I can't make to stop myself to listening. The rhythms of this song and the harmony of the instruments used to make it happen is like a vortex, an extraordinary magic that pulls you out of reality and into the world of Baldur's Gate 3.
After 3 installments, we finally found where baldur was keeping his gate now we just need him to open it.
This song makes character creation even more fun and is satisfying to listen to.
This song is so beautiful. The instrumental, the wonderous vocals, and the harmonies as well. Easily one of the best character creation experiences because of this beautifully crafted song that captures the mystical nature of the game.
Most definitely in my top 5 all time “songs from a video game OST”
Gaming Soundtrack of the Year! This version seems to be sung by a different vocalist, but both are equally awesome!
