My riding buddy Robert has the S1000XR. It is definitely more comfortable on longer rides than my bike. He also has straight pipes and a tune. It sounds really nice. The issues I have is that it's a tall bike and it doesn't have much on the low end torque wise. You have to wind it out, it shines at the higher end. I personally love lots of torque. My RS especially with the new headers and tune is awesome in the 0-80 mph range. The tune has eliminated the limiter on the top, so I'm guessing it could hit about 140 mph or a bit more in the right conditions. Without the tune, it is limited to about 120-130 something like that.
The RT is a great bike, but like I said in the video It would be nice to have a second bike that has a different characteristic. Also the RT leg position is tucked up quite a bit compared to the K1600 or especially a Harley.
Thank you. I’m definitely not a sound engineer, so it took me quite a while of testing different settings, different microphones etc. to get it somewhat clear. I know some motovloggers do voiceovers which sometimes is OK but I personally don’t like that because it removes me the viewer from the reality of the ride. Just my personal preference. Thanks for checking out the video and commenting I appreciate it
Shouldn't you have done a upload after you installed the complete exhaust system? Your bike is a different bike before and after the installation of your titanium exhaust
Yes that would have been the best, but I was too impatient and excited to get the tune on. BT Moto said it shouldn't make that much of a difference. In riding it for weeks now, I don't think it made a difference. I'm experiencing all the benefits as outlined by BT Moto. If you hit this link then scroll towards the bottom, it shows all the potential benefits: bt-moto.com/product/2019-bmw-r-1250-gs-stage-1-flash-with-handheld-tuner
You really need to get the Tubular Handlebars from BMW. I have them on my 2023 RS and I pretty much sit totally upright. Touring for hours is a breeze. My only issue is my hamstrings after a couple hours. Too bad they don’t have a peg lowering and forwarding option. It would be a perfect bike then. 😉
With my Sargent low seat, my legs are a bit cramped up. Occasionally I get a knee and/or hip cramp and have to pull over. The RT riding position also tucks the legs up quite a bit. I can imagine the tubular bars with riser would be way more comfortable.
I put risers on mine and the difference is minimal. The handles come back and up just about an inch which only slightly changed the riding position slightly but enough to make a difference. Love my RS though.
Thanks for the insights. That's interesting to hear the risers didn't do a whole bunch. I guess an inch up and back isn't really that much. Also I guess it depends on how tall and long the arms are. My stock RS suedo clip on are a stretch for me a 5'8". I just try to remember to relax my shoulders and squeeze with my legs. That helps, but once I get into riding it's hard for me to relax, I'm too excited...LOL I've yet to talk to an RS owner that doesn't love their ride. It's such a fun bike. I like mine now even more that I've replaced the headers and did the BrenTune.
@@Texas2Tires Thanks for the reply. Love your videos and post on FB group. I'm a bit taller than you at 6' so that could be a difference. I have only been riding my 2023 for just under a year and love it. However, due to some circumstances I will be picking up a 2024 at the end of this week!! Probably not much difference though.
@@BimmermanF800GT Thank you for checking out my videos and for the kudos, appreciate it. Longer arms might help. Anyway, congratulations on getting a 2024. I'm thinking they might come out with the R1300RS in 2025, maybe you can wait?
@@Texas2Tires Nah, I don't think 50cc will make that much difference and I'm getting up there in years so I don't need the latest greatest to enjoy riding here in Japan. On a different note, I have a Givi Screen on my bike and was wondering about the extension that you have on yours. Would you recommend it?
@@BimmermanF800GT I’m excited about the smoothed out quick shifter on the 1300. The extra 50cc isn’t that exciting and with my tune and new headers I have plenty of hp and torque. The screen extension I have cost about $30 and really cut down on the buffeting. So for the price, I definitely recommend it. I wanted the option to be able to remove so the bike was more sporty when I want it to be. I mainly bought it to quiet down the wind when I’m motovlogging,
It might help you decide what you want to do with the second bike. For every day riding a light bike is the trick. The 1600 is a big heavy bike perfect for long distance comfort. Also the k1600 is easier to get on and off of. The Rt is somewhere in the middle from the bike you have now and the K1600. Its all about what you want to do and your expectations.
It would be nice to be uber rich, so I could buy one of each....LOL A new bike for each day of the week. The XR is a good option too. I have some friends that have those. It's essentially a sport bike with GS riding position. That K1600 inline 6 is crazy smooth like riding on a cloud. I really liked riding the Harley's too. The new ones are a big improvement over the previous years.
K1600 & S1000XR are what I have been looking into for long distance bike.
My reason- The R1250 engine is tamer than I would prefer.

I’ve looked hard at the K1600 also, can’t go wrong with that bike for sure. Ride safe my friend 🙏

I like the audio with a little wind and exhaust noise as well - sounded good I think.
