      It’s only happened one other time for me. I have a friend in Houston that has an RS. We met up for lunch halfway between Austin and Houston. But you’re right, very rare to see one on the road let alone two.

      @@Texas2Tires In a crazy twist of faith I was at my dealer when another blue RS rocked up, a 2019. The rider was trading in his bike but before he did I made sure I bought the bar risers, GPS relocation bracket, some SW motech tank bags, and Puig rear hugger from him. Opportunist ha! The hard bags I could not take though - the look is too bulbous although I see the utility.

      The RS is pretty sharp in that white color. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, my friend Chico traded in his RS for a K 1600. I have another friend that has a white RS but his had the red frame which is really interesting. And another friend just bought a 2024 RS triple black. From 2020 to 2023 I didn’t know anyone that owned an RS in my area. Now I know at least five people that have them. It really is an awesome bike And highly underrated

    My '20 RS has the "sport" dash mode. It's just a firmware update from your dealer. Dealers only update it when it's needed to support an OEM accessory that requires it (like the OEM alarm), or when you specifically ask. Reason for this is that It can take an hour or more to do, depending on how behind you are in updates. BMW doesn't announce when updates are released or what's in them, either, because then owners would fill their dealers' service bays with owners requesting them.

    • @Texas2Tires
      @Texas2Tires  ปีที่แล้ว

      Figured that was the case. At some point, I’ll ask the dealer to update my TFT with the latest firmware. Thanks for commenting

    The Core Screen Sport is just a software update. I have the 2019 1250RS and when I talked about the sporadic bluetooth connectivity issues with the dealer they updated the display. The problems with bluetooth are rare now and I got the Core Screen Sport with the update. So perhaps you can let your bike updated to get the new screen, too.

    So nice to hear the reasoning to buy an RS. Many of us had this Boxer dilemma, and it's clear Chico likes pretty things as he too had an R9T beforehand. I'm just home from a morning ride on mine and a lady at the gas station remarked "that's a beautiful bike". Enjoy Chico!

    Excellent and surprising video. I was wondering about the differences between a 2020 and a 2023 RS. Coincidentally, I test drove a 2023 RS today because that is on of the bikes that I am looking at right now. I was surprised at how smooth the 2023 RS was during the test ride. I rode one with tubular bars and it had a different look and feel. I think I want one with the traditional bars and I might put a bar riser on it if I get it. Do you have an opinion about tubular bars and do you have bar risers on your bike? Is there a chance you would get a newer model of this RS 1250? Did I hear you say you have a garage opener on your bike? If so I would like to know how you did it or where you got it? How nimble is your bike around town in tight spaces given people usually say the RS is heavy? Also, when you were looking at bikes did you look at the Moto Guzzi 100 Mandella ( I think that is how you spell it) did you consider that bike and what do you think about it? Or Adventure bikes like Triumph 900 GT Pro? I am curious about your selection. Thanks for this video!

    • @Texas2Tires
      @Texas2Tires  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment and glad to hear you enjoyed the video. In advance, good luck on your decision to buy an RS. They are amazing bikes. I have the stock pseudo clip on bars with no bar riser. I didn't want risers or tubular bars because I like the sporty look of the stock bars and riding position. I would most likely buy a new version of the RS if they come out with a 1300 model or make some significant improvements to the bike. For example, I'd love it they could have the TFT split to allow for Apple Carplay, that would be awesome. With that said, I'm very happy with my 2020 RS. It's HP and Torque are plenty for me. It is a bit heavy at around 534 lbs., but certainly not heavy when compared to a bagger. I find it nimble enough for getting around on city streets and parking lots etc. However, it took me a bit to get used to its weight and how it likes to move. My inputs have improved over the years and practicing slow speed maneuvers in a parking lot a few times a month helps. I was going to buy a Harley Davidson Sport Glide, but after reviewing the costs involved for the HD and the lack of modern technology that came with, it was a very easy decision to go with the RS. I didn't look at any other bikes once I sunk my mind into the BMW. It was hands down the best bike I could get when comparing cost to the amount of tech you get with a bike. Adventure bikes don't have a place in my heart as I never go off road and never plan to. GS bikes far out sell the RS. However, more than 70% of the people that own GS never go off road, so why buy one? They're not a particularly good looking bike....of course that's my opinion. If I was planning to go off road and hit the trails, I would definitely buy a GS or other Adv bike for that purpose and the fact that they are comfortable to ride on the street as well. Hopefully I answered your questions, if not feel free to shoot me some more questions.

    My 2022 RS Sport in light white has the sport dash but not the heated rear seat, or the USB port, but in Australia when would you need it. I just got the luggage pack fitted so panniers, top box and tank bag. I haven't bothered with the tank bag yet as it's a bit of a pain to fit.

    • @Texas2Tires
      @Texas2Tires  ปีที่แล้ว

      Here in Texas there’s probably about three weeks in the winter that get cold and a heated seat and grips are useful. Outside of that not needed.

      @MR-vt3np ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Texas2Tires I am getting the tubular bars after riding the two demo RS bikes. In town filtering is more comfort, you still have a bit of forward lean. The bars are described as Sport bars (special order on the the R1250R and standard on the R1250R in Sport colours, in UK) good to have a choice from factory. Mine is arriving next month in Sport colour. The metallic blue and metallic white reminds me of my old K100RS SE.

    Interesting how different countries pronounce English words. I notice you pronounce the ECO Mode as ‘echo’ whereas in the UK we promote ECO Mode as ‘eeco’. To me the UK way of pronouncing that mode make more sense to me as ‘ECO’ is an abbreviation of economical. But then I realised that lead to another pronunciation difference as in ‘eeconomical’ as apposed to ‘eckonomical’, Who cares whose right eh, we all know what we’re on about. Mind you I’ve seen so many forum arguments between American and Brits over the correct way of pronouncing and indeed the spelling of ‘Aluminium’. The Brits have assumed that it’s an English word therefore the English use the correct pronunciation and spelling. However I read an article some years ago about the origin of the word Aluminium and although I don’t recall the exact details, it turned out that in actual fact the American way is the correct way. As a Brit myself I found that so funny after having read so many heated arguments from other Brits demanding their way was correct. Anyway that went off topic, I just thought I’d slip that one in. I have to say you guys do have some awesome roads to ride. The canyon roads look epic…maybe one day.

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Actually ECO is a word that I pronounce sometimes as eeco and other times as echo. Same with Data sometimes I say Dayduh and sometimes Daduh. As you may well know, Americans pronounce our “t” as “d” when speaking quickly.
