    I love these little tin boats, especially the older Lowe's! I like your idea on an external battery. I always keep a cheap booster pack with me. I bought mine form Walmart and it has all of the plug in's and lights but it can also jump my cranking battery off in a pinch. I'm currently building my 14ft v-hull and will be uploading my first videos here shortly.

    I run a tracker 12 ft. deep V, before that I ran a 10 ft. Sears. years ago. Here are a few suggestions from experience older than you are. First suggestion…..put a stingray Jr. fin on your engine (Bass Pro). It will jump it up on plane quickly and really add to stability. I actually run a 25 hp. Yamaha electric start on mine…..27 mph with just me. I have a Motor Guide X5 with remote and transducer on the front with anchor lock. Improved my fish catching by 50% (12 volt Lithium off Amazon 22 lbs), LED Rigid Industry headlights, and red/green led permanent running lights, carpeted floor, Ranger style bass seats, Lowrance HDS 9 on front and back, a all aluminum custom drive on trailer, and finally a custom towable custom cover. I get 26 mpg towing it with the Subaru. I’d suggest stop drilling holes in the boat. I glue most everything to the aluminum. Now it’s a pricey boat, but I’ve made improvements starting with it new in 2002. I started with a 7.5 Eska, then a 15 hp Mercury, and then the Yamaha. The fin on the back was the best improvement and cost $60. I’ve fished from Erie to Ochachobee in it. I can fish a month on the 3 gal of gas in the tank, while the bass boat in the garage takes that to idle out of the marina. If you want message me and I’ll send you a photo. You’ve made a great start.

    Nice set up just one tiny thing. You might want to set up a chain or heavy duty wire with terminal end to snap on to front recovery eye in case your winch attachment point, rope, terminal end or winch it self fails.

    Sweet rig bro, I just did my 1965 Mirrocraft 12 foot V-hull with an extremely similar setup. I purchased the hull with trailer for $1000, then the bass boat deck style diy build was a extra $1000, now i’m on the look for a 6-9hp motor and that will likely cost more than the whole project ($1,500-$3,000)

    Hey,, lovely boat,, especially like your anchor set up…. The only thing I don’t like is the vertical rod holder arrangement,,, vertical stuff can really get in the way if you hook a big fish that moves around quickly,,, even the vertical seat can get in the way…..

    Keep that little trolling motor. Everybody talks about bow mount so I got one but they suck on a lightweight aluminum boat. They are too touchy and the pedals over correct. A spot lock would be awesome and a remote might work well. Forget pedals though. Just keep what you have. You will have better control than with a pedal.

  • @kickedintheballs2000
    @kickedintheballs2000 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How did you figure out the level of the boat before installing the deck? Or did you simply just use the bench seats as your level? Aka how level is the casting deck when fishing?
    Also do you wish you would have mounted the casting deck seat closer to the bow?
    Sorry to hit you with some many questions, I’m just fixing to start a mini boat building myself and doing research so any info would be helpful.

    • @OutpourOutdoors
      @OutpourOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Aye brother. I just used the bench seat yes and the seats I installed were just plates that the seat can be placed in. So they’re removable. That’s the way to go so when you don’t want them there you can move them. Hope that helped

    • @harryduncan6699
      @harryduncan6699 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My fishing buddy is 300. Couple suggestions…..put in a floor not a deck (lower the center of gravity) being that high can really rock you. The floor is 5/8 plywood, with angle slluminum bolted underneath to stiffen. Aluminum doesn’t touch the boat but strengthens the wood. Carpeted the wood. Seat tops were reinforced with aluminum plating, then the seat mount plate mounted flush on top. Seat base is spring loaded with bass seat on top of it. Check weight rating on seat….they make big boy seats rated for 300 so you don’t break the back setting the hook.

    I’m disabled and this is as close as I can probably do to my own. Does the boat “feel” much heavier from using 2x4 instead of aluminum bracing? The heavier, the harder for me. It would probably never leave the lake it would end up in. Thanks and good job.
