  • You have been wondering for some time now so I figured this video is long overdue!! Got outside and gave you guys a complete walk through of this little fish catching machine! to summarize it its a 1964 mirrocraft, 12', originally had 3 bench seats inside that have all been stripped out, and on the back is a 1995 johnson evinrude 15hp 2 stroke. its a simple boat but my main goal was to make it as functional as I could for the size. it has a total of 10 hatches throughout the boat and plenty of accessories. I hope this gives you some ideas or maybe a lead on how you can start designing your future build. I've fished it for a bout a year with this design and I am more than impressed!! Thanks for checking out the video I hope it helped!! As always I will see you in the next video!!!
    Hit me up in the comment section if you have any questions about S.S. Shkippin Shmelt!

    Wow. Really well done, congrats! I wanted a 12 ft v hull for a couple years...and in looking I ran across a crazy low priced 16ft '88 aluminum bass boat so I grabbed it...but I still say your set up would rival any boat for a single person to fish from most of the time.

      The 12’ are so fun but for our big lakes a 16’ would be more comfortable for sure! A deal is a deal! With one person my boat fishes really nice. I’ve fished two people on it plenty of times you just have to be mindful of your cast other than that it’s super stable and runs great! Thanks for swinging by man!

    Good video. I'm picking up a little John boat saturday. Was just wondering how to put a floor in it so it doesn't have the V design for more comfort. Keep fishing those Arizona waters. I personally live in North Phoenix. Thanks again for the ideas.

    • @desertbassin
      @desertbassin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching the video! The floor wasn’t too hard. After I made the front and back deck I took 3/4” ply wood cut it to where it would fit between the two decks. sealed and painted it really well because it will be the most walked on portion of the boat. Than added a piece of 2x4 along the front and back edge running width wise as well as one in the center running the length of the floor. The back of the floor was flush with the flat floor of the boat in the back but the front I added a short piece of ply wood coming down from the 2x4 that runs vertically to meet the v shape of the boat and trimmed it till it was the right contours.

    Definitely keep the power cables away from the transducer wire! You should definitely look into isolating the two circuits. A battery cut off switch before the accessories then I ran a similar trolling motor and used a 60amp breaker on the positive side, then ran another positive off the battery cut off to a fuse block for the bilge and graph. Boat fires are real and very scary even on small simple 12v systems.

    • @desertbassin
      @desertbassin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s an awesome setup man I appreciate the feedback. I definitely like the idea of having a fuse/breaker just in case. I ended up buying a separate small atv battery because I was getting a lot of interference from running it off the same battery. Now the graph and trolling motor are separate and work great however adding a fuse to both would be smart. Thanks again man 🤘🏼

I stole it for $100 does not leak it just has the usual scratches and paint fading no big deal. And it's 94 lbs empty. Winner winner chicken dinner.

    First, try separating your power cables for the two systems. Also, move any power cables away from any display cables there might be. You might want to look at a voltage isolator as well or you can look at a ferrite bead/EMI filter. I bet that trolling motor is letting off some EMI.

    I agree with some people. Separate your batteries. You could get a real cheap lithium or just small SLA battery that will run the graph by itself and keep the TM on the big battery. The small lithiums are what everyone uses in kayaks and runs graphs a long time. Good luck!
