I know this comment will most likely be deleted but I hope that if you see it before that happens it at least hits your conscious a minimum that you're advertising a SCAMMM to mentally unwell people or anyone for that matter.

Thank you Darienne for being so open and honest. I have never felt so seen watching an interview. It is really very challenging growing up as chubby and queer and I did not realize how my eating addiction/disorder was so influenced by being a closeted queer in an extremely homophobic environment. Eating and staying overweight truly was a way to hide from homophobic insults and questions about my sexuality, but it was also a way to cope with it. Darienne articulated this issue so well. So people watching this should give more grace to chubby people, especially those who are chubby kids. There is so much complexity into being overweight and it is a constant battle between yourself and society. Thank you Maddy for creating a space for this important conversation, and thank you once again Darienne for being so vulnerable while still being a great example of perseverance and self-love.

@@glampingoPlease stop spreading hate towards women. Both Darienne and Maddy are Drag Queens, and specially Darienne grew up in the old school of "female impersonation".
I've read a few of your hateful "battle of the sexes" comments here that have NOTHING to do with this interview.
This comment in particular it's quite ignorant, you have no idea what is like to grow up in a female body and no matter how you dress, you can't hide certain things after puberty hits and back in the day, yes most likely due to homophobia, sexual harassment in the streets even when people was around was directed toward us, no matter how much we covered our hips or tried to "pass as a boy" to avoid being groped in the streets by paedos, because no one cared if we were 14 year old girls, but if we were 14 year old boys other men (homophobic machistas) would have beaten up the sexual harasser for touching a boy, but they couldn't care less if it was a girl, because girls shouldn't be alone in the streets after sundown anyways.
I don't want to comment anymore about this issue because this is about what DARIENNE SHARED WITH US.

I don’t think people genuinely blame chubby kids for being fat, aside from other children I suppose who also require grace for being kids and not knowing better. It’s always the parents.

20:50 as an aromantic person, I love hearing Darienne Lake talk about her romantic life (or lack thereof). As far as I’m aware, she doesn’t use the aromantic label, but the feelings she articulates do resonate with me and my experience of being aromantic. Hearing someone with such a large platform talk about how platonic relationships are fulfilling and that friends can be soulmates is such a breath of fresh air. Especially when she talks about how society can be very romance-obsessed, which I don’t often hear being discussed outside of aromantic circles.
Wonderful interview as per usual, Maddy is very good at matching her guests’ energy and going above and beyond in her questions. I always feel like I leave her interviews actually knowing more about the guest than when I started, rather than hearing about if they’d rather hunty the boots slay down, or sissy the drop mama gorg for the seventy-thousandth time.

Wow. Over the months, it's been great fun watching Maddy get increasingly comfortable and confident in her show format and ability to balance humor with allowing the guests to really show themselves, but this interview is all together a different animal. Maddy, you did a really nice job making space for Darienne to share her at times very raw and painful story without it feeling like someone exploiting or wallowing in her trauma, nor trying to make light of it, nor treating her with pity or avoiding humor where it made sense. I also appreciate the pairing with the sponsor/sponsor's message and your own vulnerability there. For an interview that could potentially be very hard or even retraumatizing for some to watch, normalizing talking to someone before the interview even began seems a good move. Thanks Darienne and Maddy for such a sincere and open interview.

What I love about Darienne is that she does not hold back- for better or worse. She wears her heart on her sleeve and lets the world see her beauty and her ugly, unapologetically. Whereas you have like Bendela who, though I love her, is quite closed off and professional. She doesn’t want to be raw or unfiltered, she has a polished drag persona and that’s what she shares with the world. But it’s the queens that share their true selves with audiences and viewers that fans connect with beyond their aesthetic or catch phrases. An overweight queer person growing up lonely and insecure with parents that don’t accept them and works several jobs at a time to make a living- THAT is relatable content.

The French call it l’appel du vide, and it is simply a fear trigger in the brain when you have control in a dangerous situation, like looking out of a window and intrusively experiencing what it would be like to fall. It’s a lil psychological phenomenon, nothing more. x

Really enjoyed this one, darienne’s dark sense of humor never disappoints. I would like to point out that she absolutely did show she can deliver fashion on AS8. I was super proud of her entire package, even if she got shafted during the season.

Love you babe, keep in keeping on! Maddy rocks these interviews, one of the few interviewers who lets the guests actually speak and asks interesting questions.

I so appreciate a warm, open person in general, let alone in an interview. Nothing off limits, full of natural humor. Elder queer people had to have humor to get through the rough stuff but there's a peace to hers, so you're allowed to laugh with her, it feels like. Darienne is such an inspirational person just for being themselves and loving it. The puns and dad jokes hit coming from her, holy crepes. 😭 Love this, thank you for another one! 💗✨
