I think this interview had the longest uninterrupted answers by any guest so far. It was still a funny interview, but I appreciate the fact that Maddy really gave Miss Lake the space to share and get really deep sharing her experiences.
Darienne has said a lot stuff which is not really glamorous but it's still important to know how bodyshaming, homophobia and misandry hurts a lot of young boys.
Listening to Darienne makes me so sad, honestly. There's so much pain in her and she's obviously still hurting so much like so many of us are, I just want to give her a hug and tell her she's safe and loved!
It's was really underrated and it also called attention to "street drag" and what is considered that, since she wasn't wearing street drag but the "future fashion" like they were told. Very trendy and on the mark for the assignment I applaud her timely reference as well considering Ru is stuck in the mid-80s
Thank you Darienne for being so open and honest. I have never felt so seen watching an interview. It is really very challenging growing up as chubby and queer and I did not realize how my eating addiction/disorder was so influenced by being a closeted queer in an extremely homophobic environment. Eating and staying overweight truly was a way to hide from homophobic insults and questions about my sexuality, but it was also a way to cope with it. Darienne articulated this issue so well. So people watching this should give more grace to chubby people, especially those who are chubby kids. There is so much complexity into being overweight and it is a constant battle between yourself and society. Thank you Maddy for creating a space for this important conversation, and thank you once again Darienne for being so vulnerable while still being a great example of perseverance and self-love.
@glampingo Who gave you the idea that biological girls can wear anything, and get away with wearing anything without a challenge. You should /could probably challenge that idea / optional / progressive.
@@glampingoPlease stop spreading hate towards women. Both Darienne and Maddy are Drag Queens, and specially Darienne grew up in the old school of "female impersonation". 20:50 as an aromantic person, I love hearing Darienne Lake talk about her romantic life (or lack thereof). As far as I’m aware, she doesn’t use the aromantic label, but the feelings she articulates do resonate with me and my experience of being aromantic. Hearing someone with such a large platform talk about how platonic relationships are fulfilling and that friends can be soulmates is such a breath of fresh air. Especially when she talks about how society can be very romance-obsessed, which I don’t often hear being discussed outside of aromantic circles. Wonderful interview as per usual, Maddy is very good at matching her guests’ energy and going above and beyond in her questions. I always feel like I leave her interviews actually knowing more about the guest than when I started, rather than hearing about if they’d rather hunty the boots slay down, or sissy the drop mama gorg for the seventy-thousandth time.
I was feeling the same way!! As a new person entering in this journey of labeling myself as an aromantic person, I resonate so much of Darienne experience, but i didn't know why until i read your comment. Thank you so much for sharing c:

Wow. Over the months, it's been great fun watching Maddy get increasingly comfortable and confident in her show format and ability to balance humor with allowing the guests to really show themselves, but this interview is all together a different animal. Maddy, you did a really nice job making space for Darienne to share her at times very raw and painful story without it feeling like someone exploiting or wallowing in her trauma, nor trying to make light of it, nor treating her with pity or avoiding humor where it made sense. I also appreciate the pairing with the sponsor/sponsor's message and your own vulnerability there. For an interview that could potentially be very hard or even retraumatizing for some to watch, normalizing talking to someone before the interview even began seems a good move. Thanks Darienne and Maddy for such a sincere and open interview.

UGH this has done Darienne wonders! Thank you for creating a platform for queens to shed light on themselves in a positive, unedited and enlightening way 🎉❤

I'm from Western New York between Rochester and Buffalo, like Darienne, so I always gotta show love for her. Even if All-Stars wasnt great this season, I was still super excited to see Darienne on. ❤️
Darienne Lake is a legend and amazing. She is so friendly and fun, she could almost be Canadian. Love you both!!
Darienne Lake is one of the few people who feels the same way as me when it comes to relationships. That is straight up how I think about it. Even the friends can be your soul mates. She's one of the few people to ever say how I feel out loud about it.
Delta?
@@samforde29 lmao. Idk why I said that. I guess I was just thinking of her podcast as I typed this. Thanks. I'll correct it.

UGH this has done Darienne wonders! Thank you for creating a platform for queens to shed light on themselves in a positive, unedited and enlightening way 🎉❤
Darrienne has only gotten more beautiful as time has passed. I wasn't ready for her to go home on AS8 when she did. Love the interview Maddy! Knocking it out of the park as per usual!

She’s talking about the High Roller at The Linq. Maddy, you are a definite asset to our fair city!
as a rochester native ; i support this message ! & that darien lake story is very true ! he was my friends uncle & this happened when we were in either 9th or 10th grade. the family was certainly fine with it bc he really wanted to ride that ride -ride of steel- we call it the superman though
A lovely conversation. I can only admire the resilience and depth (not to forget the comedy) of Darienne Lake. Thank you Maddy for the podcast.
