Any drama with girls on your season???????” WGI national finals ‘19 was the best weekend of my life and it’s so inspiring to see someone talk about guard with the same reverence I have for the sport (of the arts☺️).
Maddy's clearly genuinely interested in her guests as a person. As a gay man, I admit that if a gay person conducted the same interview, he would focus all about himself and ways to get the dish or the tea or whatever it's called.
This one was next level though. Maddy got someone to track down their yearbook from decades ago to get those two pictures. And that's not even all of it.

Listening to Latrice describe how she was treated by society after her time is prison is SO important. All our talk of “debt to society” and “rehab” means nothing if that same society makes it next to impossible for a person to get even the crappiest of jobs to take care of themselves. I think I was always aware of this sad situation, but hearing from someone who DID manage to recover, the story is much more impactful.
I got caught up in the system when I was younger and I'm a pretty little white girl with a family who supports me and it was so hard to get out. I can't imagine how impossible it is for people who don't have "pretty privilege" or stable family (I always thought we were kinda poor until I realized how privileged I was to grow up with a family home and car) I have every privilege imaginable and it was extremely difficult so definitely props to latrice ❤
I found this very moving. Latrice went to jail for a really minor offence which shows how corrupt the US justice system is when it comes to the incarceration of African Americans. Thanks for sharing your story Latrice. I'm on your side.

Even in the Farrah Moan interview, and that one was so emotional, she gave Farrah the respect and space that was needed, but there were still some really naturally funny moments in there from both of them. Like when Farrah talked about getting stuff from guys on Facebook in your hidden messages, or Maddy asking her if she made the awkward "Hmmmmm, huhhhhh" noises from her roast when Farrah got stabbed. It was an amazingly dynamic interview.

As a first gen boy color guard member, I relate so much to Latrice. I fought my director tooth and nail and was able to do winter guard but was never able to do marching band guard. So many boys started doing it in the years after I graduated and it warmed my heart they were getting the chances I was never given.
Maddy is so professional, so personable and not scared to crack a joke in amongst the more serious topics. Literally 10/10 host. Always listening, stopping to expand on things but also some how moving everything along.... everything is YES!

The amount of research and just straight-up PASSION for these queens is obvious. Maddy knocks it out of the park each and every time, and I'm always amazed. Maddy is usually able to stay in her character in these (which I looove, she’s so quick with her cold reads) but you can tell that she was genuinely excited to talk to Latrice. You can tell she keeping it professional, but really respects and looks up to her ❤❤❤

As a first gen boy color guard member, I relate so much to Latrice. I fought my director tooth and nail and was able to do winter guard but was never able to do marching band guard. So many boys started doing it in the years after I graduated and it warmed my heart they were getting the chances I was never given.

I used to think "he's prob gay" then thought "nah, he's str8 and stealing an art form from gays" now I'm like "honestly... I don't care if Maddy is gay, str8, bi... it's none of my business nor does it make a difference to the art form of drag." I'm a gay dude who's been tortured by str8 men and now, as an artist / story teller I find how much my own judgements have lived inside of my (self) while holding others to a higher standard. We all have this kind of wack perception of boxes and legit: Maddy is like Gottmik in that it really just doesn't matter dude. Girl, boy, gay, str8, old, young, trans, sis, bi... blah blah blah.. who cares. Just give your craft your ALL and be kind. Be conscious of others and be open to growing. The amount of research and just straight-up PASSION for these queens is obvious. Maddy knocks it out of the park each and every time, and I'm always amazed. If there was hot sauce involved, I swear I was watching Hot Ones with the level of professional questions and deep dives into the queen's background there are.

I saw her in a haters roast before ever even exploring drag race or drag in general, with jinx and a few others- it totally changed my perspective on comedy, community and at the time gave me something that felt like I belonged. it’s the first time I ever wore a dress, and the moment that set off everything for me. I started watching drag race during her season so she's a fundamental part of my upbringing. You are so talented in revealing the birth of such talented queens. I adore Latrice with all of my heart, this interview makes me love her even more, seeing her with her mouth wide open, after Maddy showed pictures of young Latrice, just made me giggle.
That was probably one of my favorite episodes so far. Maddy keeps getting better with each interview. I laughed through the whole thing.
I saw Latrice this summer on her “Life goes on” tour this summer in DC and she was fantastic. She opened up about her life, sang, had beautiful costumes and opened her heart to us. I have been a fan since day one. Long live the Queen!
