Total build cost was under $250 usd. I’ve even seen a couple 1080ti’s sell for as low as $100-$120 on my local markets
I have been rounding up my supply of nuts for the winter here in Japan. So many 3060's on the used market that 1070/2060/2070/2080 variants are popping up like it is cool. Still not as cheap as I would like to see them, but way better than say 3 months ago. Great Video, and very accurate list from the Tech Yes City Man!
only concern with it is the vram. some newer titles even go above 16GB at 4k. Not that I'm playing to go 4k anyways at this point. Even the best GPUs at the moment hardly get 90fps at 4k right now on newer titles.
I'd take a 2080ti (Samsung memory) over a 3070 or 3070ti even , let alone a 6700xt - the 2080ti can often be overclocked to run faster than all three cards in many titles! , and doesn't run out of VRAM quite so quickly as the Ampere files.
Picked up a used 3070 about 6 weeks ago in my small town for approx $280USD (technically $375 Canadian), and I'm very happy with the performance. It allowed me to pass my 6600XT down to my son for his rig. Price was easily the lowest I'd seen around this market. That price point is usually occupied with 3060s around here.
Same here, a couple months ago bought a Colorful Battle Ax 3070 triple fan with Samsung memory for 280US, my 6th GPU this year, much cheaper and cooler than the 2080ti I've sold, didn't notice any difference in performance, a hell of a card.
@@Chomta I think a 3070 or 6700xt under $300 is a good deal. The 4060 ti barely beats the 6700xt and the 4060 ti costs $400+ and the 3070 blows the 6700xt. I got really lucky and bought a new 4060 ti for $330, I upgraded from a 1060. Once in a while you'll find a great used deal, recently bought a fairly new but used 6750xt for $250 for a friends build, INSANE DEAL imo!
heck yeah, 260 US for a 3070 with warranty is an awesome deal. Personally, I stay away from used AMD GPUs without warranty as I've seen they die way too often, their construction is just subpar, especially MSI. Depending on the manufacturer, Nvidia cards with Ti memory chips, tend to die much faster as well, I wouldn't touch one with Hynix chips.
One of my fav overlooked old gpus is the 4GB R9 380 (or 380X), which here in the States can be had for $40-60. Still capable in a lot of games at 1080p with reduced settings. GCN3 can handle DX12 feature set 12.0. And it's good in Linux too if you're just trying to throw together a cheap gaming system to mess around with Proton.
Updated my oldest’s 1080ti which I bought used at a great price for a EVGA 3080ti used. Both awesome cards. Can’t wait to buy a 4090 used in about 3 years time.
Still pinching myself over a Strix RTX2080Ti purchase last year for $220, net price (i.e., it came with a Strix waterblock, adding another $50, which I sold off for that price). It was clean and had been used by its original owner in a gaming PC. Mint condition save for a loose fan plug connector, which I easily repaired. As it came with the waterblock installed, the loose fan connector wasn't noticed by me until the OEM fan assembly was reinstalled. In any event, the repair was minimal and it has run like a champ since I installed it months ago. I do run it with an UV, just to be on the safe side.
Alan Wake 2 is the first to require mesh shaders on a GPU and many will follow in the coming years so NO the GTX10 series should not get a better ranking than the RX6600 which supports the technology.

Just picked up a 6700XT which was used for mining for less than a used 3060, tested it and other than some coil whine (which is mostly unnoticeable when I undervolt a bit), it runs stable, silent and cool. I took a gamble on it because it's an ASUS Tuf Gaming OC, and their cooling solution and build quality are top notch. I'm giving my wife my Palit 3060 12GB which I got new for twice as much last year, because she need the CUDA cores for work. It's built like a plastic toy when compared to the 6700XT and easily runs up to 10 degrees hotter under load.
Got a 6800xt Sapphire pulse for 300 American. It's sitting on a table cus I have a few PCs and haven't gotten around to that build but I'm pretty happy with it.
Love using small cards like the 960 and 1650 in budget ITX builds where a 400W psu doesn't weigh it down and it actually makes a sweet portable classic gaming build.
Picked up a 6700xt for my mom's new build. She was still rocking the over 10 year old PC I build her back in the day. So I bought a b650m mobo, a 7700, 16gx2 DDR5 6000MT/s, and an RX6700xt to top it off. She doesn't game, but I'm sure it'll last her another 10 years meaning I don't need to play tech support for the foreseeable future.
at first thought I wanna buy a used rx 6700xt but after watching this vid, I've change my mind and picking rtx 3070 instead... thanks, and a great vid btw.
What are the memory issues you mentioned with the 2080ti ? It occasionally comes up for good prices and I recently got one for an upgrade from a 1080. For flipping I agree the newer 6700(xt) is better. Unfortunately haven't come across any good deals on a 3070 in my local area (Southern UK) yet. Thanks for the vid, keep up the great work.
@@Technocrat. Ti cards are not just overclocked non-Ti cards. They will also have the better coolers in many cases. The performance jump is not just from higher speeds and power draw. The specs of the 2080ti is significant over the 2080 super (eg. cores etc.). I think it's something to bear in mind but definitely no reason to blanket ignore Ti models. I would personally always go for a 3060ti over a 3060 for example.
I have cleaned and repasted so many cards over the years, if they needed it or not. The 2080ti is like the only card I would have stress over taking apart. It is like so cringy pulling apart the layers. There is just an insane amount of components covering both sides of the pcb. Should be prepared to swap out the pads, there are allot on this card. The 3 memory chips closest to the PCI fingers have a tendency of just throwing in the towel. It was a problem from the get go, so yes a gamble on longevity.
the rx580 8gb is for sure worth getting it was my first gpu and still is my current gpu it runs almost all games at 100+ fps at 1080p and 90+ fps at 1440p
Got an RX 6700XT and is waiting for the end of the year when I have enough money for my build. Although I bought a used GPU but it has a two years warranty so I'm probably ok but man I can't wait to build it.
I was able to sell my personal gaming PC here in California for $550, that had an i7 7700 and a MSI GTX 1070 Ti Gaming X. Paid $70 for the CPU, and $120 for the GPU. I basically got all my money back. Prices here are all over the place. Holiday season is the best time to sell here.
Got an RTX 3080 for £380 with a years warranty and ability to return. The cards a monster, plays most games at 4k60, and can still play harder to run games at 4k60 if you just drop the settings from ultra to high. £380 for a card that outperforms a 4070 comfortably in 4k is great value.
I bought a back of new and sealed Sapphire Pulse and Nitro+ Rx580’s during crypto boom (8x gpus) for $130AUD each from a reseller as a bulk lot and sold 4 of them for $360 AUD a piece and people were happy with the price. I then sold the last 4 gpus for $400AUD during crypto and they sold out quickly. I also purchased an AMD Reference model 6700XT during crypto for $689 AUD and onsold it for $1300 less than a week later. Also during crypto I purchased a mining setup with 9x Rx580 (2x were DOA) (5x 8gb models and 2x 4gb models that were working) for $130AUD total for the entire setup. I cleaned all gpus, put new thermal paste and replaced a handful of thermal pads on sold each GPU for $280-300AUD and sold them all in a few days!
No bad product per the price but there are bad investments. It’s nice when a computer meets most games recommended spec even though some are poorly optimized. I like the rule of doubling take whatever your initial investment would be and double it until you can’t reasonably spend more. chances are you’ll get more for the money if not in terms of performance; longevity and ease of mind
2 years ago I went from a 4 core 4690K/ GTX 1070 setup to a full AM4 setup with a cheap 3600/ B550 (bring on the 5500X3D) and luckily I found a Red Dragon 6800 at the end of crypto/ GPU travesty for the same price that a RTX4060 8Gb is currently retailing for in NZ. My 1440p UW gaming rocks "Ready or Not 1.0" with epic settings at 100fps average.... Xmas is good
I needed to get a GPU for a new small ITX build project so I bought a new Zotac Single Fan RTX4060 for $280 US before they jacked it up for Black Friday I tested it against my RX6600 for power efficiency and had a 20W to 40W less power draw from the wall on the 4060 coupled with the better performance I decided to leave it in my regular build, and I'm rebuilding my my old gaming rig with the RX6000 to sell before Christmas. I'm going to just wait for the new AM5 APUs for the ITX build later on next year.
A while back when 2070super was new I ordered it together with a 3700X instead of my 4790k with a gtx 970.. didn't even realize it didn't have DVI until I got the order home. Nvidia brand bias is definitely a big thing in certain regions. From where I'm from, you can get a RX 6800 for as low as $250 and RX 6800 XT for $290 and there are LOTS of them, they aren't just one-off deals. And yet the Nvidia equivalent, RTX 3080 (10G) is still selling at $350 at the lowest. One seller even said to me that they only accept trading as long as you're offering an Nvidia card. "Radeon is a hard sell," they said. 😬😬😬

6600 8gb, 6700 10gb, 6800 xt 16gb best I have experience with for used. All about the price though. Need to beating new price/performance by a boatload to put up with the odd dud.
Highly disagree on the 3070 . 3070 ti was the only GPU I ever regretted buying. I had to upgrade to a 6950 xt within a year of buying it. 8gb vram IS a major issue, I was constantly running into vram related issues, so much stuttering and textures flat out refusing to load. Not just in new games, even in old games like Control , Far Cry 6 , Final Fantasy 7 remaster, etc. You WILL regret buying a 8gb card. I refuse to buy another nvidia card because of how bad my experience with the 3070 ti was. It would have been a great card with 12gb, but they wanted to force people to upgrade.
Just thought to ask, but any plans on possibly doing something similar for CPUs and possibly what GPUs would be good to pair with them for example (like perhaps the i5-2400/i7-2600 & Ryzen 3 1200 or 2600/2600X for example & what GPU is reccomended to pair with those chips (1660 Super or perhaps something less like perhaps a 1060, maybe a RX 570)?)
If you're already rocking an AMD 5000 series CPU, wouldn't it be a better idea to use an AMD RDNA2 and above GPU to enable SAM, for just that little extra performance?
im still on 1060 6gb which i bought used in 2018, looking for something that will handle streaming well so i guess either RTX series or Radeon 7000 series with av1 codec
High end GPUs have gone up a lot. I would suggest waiting till the super RTX GPUs to come out and buying used 4080s, 4070s and 4070TIs. I am hoping to get a used 4080 for $750 USD or less.

It allowed me to pass my 6600XT down to my son for his rig. Price was easily the lowest I'd seen around this market. That price point is usually occupied with 3060s around here.
Same here, a couple months ago bought a Colorful Battle Ax 3070 triple fan with Samsung memory for 280US, my 6th GPU this year, much cheaper and cooler than the 2080ti I've sold, didn't notice any difference in performance, a hell of a card.
here in Indonesia people sell 3070's for around $240, most of the time condition is not that good, but i got mine in mint condition for the same price
I'm getting a used 3070 with a 2y warranty for $260 (used for gaming only) good deal?
Can’t wait to buy a 4090 used in about 3 years time.
gtx 980 ti is good too ! But TDP is outdated for performance but it's a legendary card !
Getting old like the 1070
agreed, nowadays with FSR, it can totally handle games like Horizon Zero Dawn at 1440p no problems, its 6GB vram is aging well
Still pinching myself over a Strix RTX2080Ti purchase last year for $220, net price (i.e., it came with a Strix waterblock, adding another $50, which I sold off for that price).
Alan Wake 2 is the first to require mesh shaders on a GPU and many will follow in the coming years so NO the GTX10 series should not get a better ranking than the RX6600 which supports the technology.
he is NVIDIA fanboy
@@asdbef3667I'm guessing that Remedy are.
@@asdbef3667Well his a PC flipper and the average consumers are more familiar with Nvidia. It's obvious he would like them for more availability to buy and recognition to sell.
1660 SUPER - great card. I bought it on realise and love it. For 1080p best card at it price
Top video as always. I just got a RX660 for Chrissie. Your video was made better by the T-Shirt. One of the best movies from the 90's.
Got a 3080 for £340 second hand and sold my 3060ti for £250 so that’s a pretty reasonable upgrade for the money
Go go yes tech city !! I prefer a cheap rtx 3060ti lhr bought for $190 last month :)
thats a shweeet deal brother.
Lots of great videos coming from you these days! Love it ❤
Got a 6800xt Sapphire pulse for 300 American. It's sitting on a table cus I have a few PCs and haven't gotten around to that build but I'm pretty happy with it.
Me too. I need to upgrade from 3600x cpu though...
6850xt here... i just love the fact that this is such a powerful card witch such a nice price to fps ratio
at first thought I wanna buy a used rx 6700xt but after watching this vid, I've change my mind and picking rtx 3070 instead... thanks, and a great vid btw.
I just scored a Strix 2080 Super last night for $200 USD! Upgrade from 1660 for my LANbox.
I believe any TI used version is a risk buy. Because the card was factory OC tho the maximum . The more overclocked, the shorter the lifespan.
I believe any TI used version is a risk buy. Because the card was factory OC tho the maximum . The more overclocked, the shorter the lifespan.
It's the micron GDDR6 variants, be careful of them, samsung vram ones are the go to.
the rx580 8gb is for sure worth getting it was my first gpu and still is my current gpu it runs almost all games at 100+ fps at 1080p and 90+ fps at 1440p
LOL! loved that not only that I love this channel but also the t-shirt that you're wearing. I used to watch that when I was on my early teens? hahah!
Yeah same lol when I saw that tshirt for sale (forgot where now), I just had to grab it lol.
Got an RX 6700XT and is waiting for the end of the year when I have enough money for my build. Although I bought a used GPU but it has a two years warranty so I'm probably ok but man I can't wait to build it.
Torn between the 2080 super and the 3070!
I am so against the 6600, it`s weak just get the XT version and the performance gain is noticable
Thanks for the awesome video.
Best used GPUs i have found:
Rx580 50$
1070 80$
5700xt 100$ (i love this deal)
6700xt 200$
3060ti 210$
6800xt 300$

I just bought the gtx 1660 super 6 gig and man its awesome it works really well with the ryzen 5 3600
Same choices in UK. Very good list.
The GtX 960 is a good choice for CRT PC gaming as the 900 series were some of the last cards to have an analogue DVI output.
I've got a GTX 950 chilling around somewhere, never thought to plug my CRT into it.
A while back when 2070super was new I ordered it together with a 3700X instead of my 4790k with a gtx 970.. didn't even realize it didn't have DVI until I got the order home. Monitor was an older 24" 144Hz and didn't have DP and I didn't wanna run 60Hz so I had to go buy a new screen as well. But now I can use that monitor at another house with a GTX980, all ends well
@@majjjk I had a similar experience when I got a PS4 years ago. My monitor only had DVI and VGA. My PS3 worked well with it using a HDMI adapter but the PS4 produced no signal with the same adapter. Tried a few different adapters and an HDCP stripper. In the end after many amazon returns, a simple HDMI to DVI cable did the trick.
Not just DVi output but they also were one of the last Nvidia chipsets to have Windows XP drivers for retro gaming.
@@rhuwyn Thanks for the info. I didn't realise they were the last Nvidia chips to have XP support.
Loved the Cruel Intentions tshirt.
i got a used RTX 3080 for 375 USD, and it was a great bargain once i repasted it. but now the listings for 3080s and 6800 xts are mostly gone, with only the inflated listings left
i did do some window shopping and found a 4070 for 375 USD though. it really depends on your area
This is my fave channel for used tech deals and flipping advice/info cheers on 580k subs, hope ya hit one mil soon!
Which one of these cards would be best to pair with an i7 8700k?
I would pair it with a 1080 Ti but this isn’t on the list for some reason. The 3060 Ti would also work well.
3060 or 3070 and it makes an easy flip, have done a few in the past month.
Watching your channel is giving me a lot of knowledge on starting my own flip business here in Kanuck Land, when I retire soon.
Was supposed to retire past July, but looked at inflation and my savings, and could see the lifespan of my savings shrinking fast. Same or more money in savings, just the value of how far it goes is reduced a lot.
Yeah inflation is rediculous in aus. Give it another 2 years and fiat will be hot potato in the west.
I picked up a Zotac 3080 for USD $370 and am happy with it.
Back in the day right before the 20 series launched, I bought a brand new Strix 1080 for $200. About 3 months ago I bought a Strix 3090 brand new for $600. I'm giving my old 1080 to my nephew for his rig.
I got my used RTX3080 on November 2023 for only 300 usd here in Malaysia. Been using it since and it's very goodd with my Ryzen 5 7500F
Got a used Radeon 6800XT for around 220€
;its the ASRock Phantom Gaming modell
**got a used Samsung Odysee G7 Monitor for 170€ (27" 240hz)
Ryzen 5800x 100€ used
kept my x370 board with 32gb 3200mhz .
best upgrade ever
I bought gtx 1660super only 99$, good performance and condition max only 76°c , im really happy with these gpu
Should I go for a low profile RX 6400 for my tiny PC or just get a used Quadro P620?
(It's a Lenovo P330 Tiny, i5 8500T)
P620 used is around $50 converted
And the RX6400 is $120 new
I will need to save up for the RX one most prolly.
I bought the 6700XT brand new unfortunately it was back during the GPU supply "shortage" so i paid far more than current prices even at retail, but it's the perfect card for 1440p and 4k gaming
I got gtx1660 ti last month, get the job done in playing warzone above 85 fps++
Nvidia brand bias is definitely a big thing in certain regions. From where I'm from, you can get a RX 6800 for as low as $250 and RX 6800 XT for $290 and there are LOTS of them, they aren't just one-off deals. And yet the Nvidia equivalent, RTX 3080 (10G) is still selling at $350 at the lowest. One seller even said to me that they only accept trading as long as you're offering an Nvidia card. "Radeon is a hard sell," they said. 😬😬😬
Ah yes, the brand bias. But its a good thing, keeps prices on good cards low.

Hi Bryan cex Australia is selling rx 5700 xt for 285 aud with e 2 year warranty, what do you think?
Highly disagree on the 3070 . 3070 ti was the only GPU I ever regretted buying. I had to upgrade to a 6950 xt within a year of buying it. 8gb vram IS a major issue, I was constantly running into vram related issues, so much stuttering and textures flat out refusing to load. Not just in new games, even in old games like Control , Far Cry 6 , Final Fantasy 7 remaster, etc. You WILL regret buying a 8gb card. I refuse to buy another nvidia card because of how bad my experience with the 3070 ti was. It would have been a great card with 12gb, but they wanted to force people to upgrade.
my boy always throwing down gpu buying experiences
Just thought to ask, but any plans on possibly doing something similar for CPUs and possibly what GPUs would be good to pair with them for example (like perhaps the i5-2400/i7-2600 & Ryzen 3 1200 or 2600/2600X for example & what GPU is reccomended to pair with those chips (1660 Super or perhaps something less like perhaps a 1060, maybe a RX 570)?)
what are your thoughts on the 1080ti? that should of been on there haha or do a vid on it :) love your vids
