@@mjackson780Actually Bastien wrote it with some friends years before meeting his husband, then he and Jerome released a version of them singing it together in 2018. That version is also amazing!
No reason you can't start a Thanksgiving tradition of your own. We don't own the idea and we are willing to share things. I'm thankful for my daughter, her hubby is pretty cool. I'm glad our Country still has good friends like the Aussies. Home Free always makes the list. ❤❤
So many cultures have harvest celebrations, which is largely what Thanksgiving in the US was and is. Giving thanks for a bountiful harvest makes sense. Perhaps in Oz, the harvest is too close to Easter celebrations.
I just love the way they are all laughing at the end, especially Rob's big looking laugh, it just makes me happy. I hope you react to let me come home.
Yes, it’s a cover and the person wrote it over Covid. I’m so thankful for my family and friends and yes our kids are older now but they come home for the holiday. It’s always the 4th Thursday of November and most people get Friday off with the weekend so it makes for a nice little break before the Christmas holiday comes. Usually the host/hostess cooks a turkey, stuffing and gravy. Other family members bring the sides to eat like mashed potatoes or sweet potato casserole, green beans and cranberry sauce and usually pumpkin/pecan pie for dessert. It’s really good eating but the cooking is a chore. Covid was tough on everyone but especially over the holidays. Loved this song and the pause you mentioned when they all harmonized early on was fantastic. Watch the new song…Bastien wrote it. Beautiful!
I'm thankful for you, DJ, and all the other reactors who put in so much work to bring us their reactions. Yours are always such fun and full of honest feeling and respect for the artists. Thank you.
It would be wonderful if more countries adopted their own Thanksgiving Days, each according to their cultures, to take a moment to stop and remember what is good about world. Even in the USA where we do have a Thanksgiving Day, it seems to get lost in the rush from the wild Halloween excitement to the glitter of Christmas. I'm Thankful Home Free gave us this beautiful video and song to help us hit pause and really take the time to think about what we cherish. Thank you for sharing this with your viewers.
Christmas is coming and I don't think you've watched their collaborations with Alabama ("Christmas in Dixie") or the Oak Ridge Boys ("Beautiful Star of Bethlehem"). BTW, If you watch Austin's new video for "Hers Ain't Mine" have your fan handy.
As someone who was born on Thanksgiving, it's always been my holiday. There is not a lot of Thanksgiving songs out there. This just made my year. It's the first time since I was born that everyone i am thankful for will be elsewhere. I'm not sure i know how to cook for 2. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
I'm glad you noticed the Rob/Chance blend! They have a unique sound when they harmonize together that is different from other combinations of the guys. And I love how they brought Bastien into the harmony, where he's been rightfully featured in the two non-holiday releases prior to this to introduce him as a part of the band. This was written by Adam Sandler. Yes, that Adam Sandler. Get ready for tears and smiles and deep thinking for "Can I Come Home".
Such a lovely song and video! I know Thanksgiving is never anything to do with us Brits either but I always love the idea and the sentiment behind it! Thank you for this reaction DJ! I'm thankful for the joy that you put out into the world and the fact that you have created the Herd as such an incredible and friendly and safe space...
The song is maybe originally by Ben Rector. That's what I found when I searched for it. It is most decidedly NOT the Thanksgiving Song by Adam Sandler, which is....silly.
Love they included the gal signing "home free." Apparently this is Chance's formal stocking cap. Looks like the one he wore tonight to the Country Music Awards when they were all dressed up. 😅 I'm thankful for my family, scattered and small as it is. Our only childs will graduate high school in a few months so next year's Thanksgiving might be very different.
I saw them in October with Adam Bell-Bastien, great show, and he said his name Basteen and to call him that., due to there being three Adams. So, Adam, Rob, Tim, Chance and Bastien (pronounced Basteen).
"The Thanksgiving Song" (also known as "Happy Thanksgiving") was written by Sandler, Ian Maxtone-Graham and Robert Smigel It was first performed during the Weekend Update segment of the season 18 episode of Saturday Night Live on November 21, 1992, as a duet between Sandler and Weekend Update anchor Kevin Nealon; it was originally intended to be a recurring Thanksgiving tradition with other cast members debuting their own original songs, but the next year, it was again Sandler, doing another version of the same song in the style of Bruce Springsteen. A live performance of the original song was recorded at The Strand in Redondo Beach, California on July 25, 1993. It was also featured on MTV's Beavis and Butt-Head Do Thanksgiving in 1997. The version at The Strand was included on Sandler's debut album They're All Gonna Laugh at You! and was released as a single.
@@itzel1735I think HF is the first artist to record the song, but Ben Rector wrote it in 2020. If anyone else has recorded it, I haven't been able to find it anywhere.
@@tammymoseley1348 idk I just asked Alexa to play it for me and she played Ben Rector's version. Very nice. I am not sure if it was on any official album release.
When you listen to Home Free’s new song Can I Come Home (For Christmas), you will need tissues. It was written by Bastien and it’s stunning! ❤
Bastien and his husband wrote that one. It hits Adam hard. His coming out to his family and the emotions involved.

It’s “Let Me Come Home”, for the record. People may look for the wrong song. ☺️

Such a lovely song that Ben Rector wrote - and yes, it was in 2020. I'm so glad HF decided to cover it, and thank you for another great reaction.
Bastien did a good job on this ,beautiful words, beautiful melody, love this
This one made me cry when I first saw it.
Im thankful for freedom, and my brothers and sisters who gave their lives to provide and protect our freedoms.
I just love the way they are all laughing at the end, especially Rob's big looking laugh, it just makes me happy. I hope you react to let me come home.
I am most thankful for family, but also for the joy music brings.
I’m thankful for my husband and Home Free. Love this cover. Ben Rector is original artist.
The addition on Bastien has made the guys much more vibrant, joyful, happy. Thank you Bastien!
Right this minute, I’m thankful for the snoring cat sleeping in my lap.
