Skull and Bones showcases Chance. He wrote the song for a game and it is pretty neat. You could also check out his and Peter Hollen's version of Take me home country roads
"Weirdly eerie while being eerily comforting" sums up Reilly (Hound) and McKenzie (Fox) perfectly. I usually say "hauntingly beautiful". They've been referred to as Hound +Fox + Wolf when Chance sings with them. Spooky folk is their niche, but they also have 2 albums of lullabies. McKenzie is a fantastic lyricist, and they have several originals. Reilly mixes most if not all of their music, and they do their own videos. I've become a huge fan since I discovered them.
Will look forward to your reaction to 'Sound of Silence.' Riley (Hound) and McKenzie (Fox) have a wonderful ethereal, sometimes haunting, quality to their vocals. Everything they've done with Chance is worth a listen. Also check out 'Whistling Lad,' 'Hurt,' and 'Soon May the Wellerman Come.' 'We Three Kings' w/Tim Foust also great. 😊
One of my favorite collaborations from Chance. The Fox and the Hound are really lovely in their harmonies and they work really well with Chanced. Thanks for doing this one
One thing I notice with these very skilled groups is their ability to LISTEN to each other as they sing. No one sings over the top of any other. Listening is a hugely vital part of singing.
I voted for this performance because I really liked it - the harmonies, the blend of their voices and the overall delivery - so soothing and yes - kinda spiritual. Thank you for your reaction and analysis Sir H - great stuff, as always! 👏🙏🫶💫
This was a staple of a group I was in back in the 70s. It was nice to hear it again. I love this rendition! Chance has such a nice voice and here he shows his range more than with HF.
I concur, another great collab from these three! (In fact, if you only did one more I'd go for this rather than _Sound_ _of_ _Silence,_ but both is preferred.)
This reminds me so much of the folk-rock music from the 60s when I was in college. Definitely watch their Sound of Silence. One of my favorite covers of that song - right behind the Tim Foust / Peter Hollens one.
I love this version of the song; their voices and energy blend so beautifully. Yes, please react to their cover of the Sound of Silence. It is just as haunting and breathtaking. Thank you for your reactions!
I remember that this song and their version of Sound of Silence came out right before I saw Home Free in concert. I was able to talk with the guys before the concert and told Chance how much I loved his collaboration with The Hound + The Fox. Their voices blend so well together.
I have loved this and also the following Sound of Silence since it first came out. Your analysis and reaction is perfect! Adam Chance also has out a version of "Far From any Road" (audio only) that I find mesmerizing and wonderful.
I really enjoy "The Hound & The Fox's music. They've done a lot of collaborations with different members of Home Free & other artists. Their voices really suit the older folk style of songs & Chance blends well with them. This is a very old song that has been covered by many famous artists such as Burl Ives, Emmylou Harris & Johnny Cash.
My mom used to sing this to me and I sang it to my son. So beautiful. I love the timbre of Adam Chance's voice. He did several collaborations with The Hound + The Fox, and they are all lovely.
I love this song since the first time I sang it in the choir... probably 20 years ago (gosh time flies...). This is a great version. I love Chance's voice, and The Hound and Fox always sound quite soothing. Definitely check out their Sounds of Silence! It's a good one!
This is the first song I’d heard from these three. Now I look for everything they put out. It’s all so pleasing to my ears! Thank you for finally breaking through to a new sound. The Hound + The Fox also did We Three Kings and All the Pretty Horses with Tim Foust, another great collaboration. Great analysis today! 🎶 Cyd
I love the haunting aspect of this song. There are quite a few of the Home Free members singing with the Hound and the Fox. One of my favorites is “ We Three Kings” with the Hound and the Fox and Tim Faust. Love your reaction breakdowns, btw!
Your R & A was great as always! Yes, please, to doing the Sound of Silence. And the Whistling Lad, which several here say is an original truly is stunning. Please do that one too!
Yes on the Sound of Silence and thank you again for another great reaction and analysis. This song is still performed here during church services, and there are quite few varying verses in use.
These three always remind me of a melancholy Peter, Paul and Mary. Very folky. They even released “Puff the Magic Dragon” on the last H+F lullabies album. Their harmonies are quiet, but lovely. Hound = Reilly = he Fox = McKenzie = she
Thank you for this reaction. I’m a longtime fan of Adam Chance AND The Hound & The Fox. This is a beautiful performance. BTW, I adore the song “The Parting Glass.” Please check out the Peter Hollens cover featuring The Hound & The Fox. It’s one of the best renditions of this very old folk song.
What is the Chance a gentle hound a sweet fox should meet a singing man inside a storm drain. The way- faring trio quietly blending ascending creating heavenly peaceful harmony. Beautiful. My vibe. Great analysis.🌹 PS eep! forgot. yes for Sound of Silence I did a cursory listen. It's a beauty. 🌸
thank you for reacting to that song. I love, love the Hound and the Foxes cooperations especially with Chance or Tim Foust. Chances soothing voice goes so well with them both. Have to agree with @starcarm, the are "hauntingly beautiful" and such lovely people. Yes please do the sound of silence too. Always great to listen to your reactions 🤩
Adam Chance with The Hound and The Fox sang this so beautifully. I appreciate the respect they showed the Source combined with their harmonies. My Nana who was born in 1895 used to sing this while knitting by the large fireplace in the farmhouse kitchen in winter. Emmy Lou Harris’ version is lovely. Her voice is both earthy and ethereal. It is closest to how it is sung here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Folk learned to sing harmony at Church or when Shape Note leaders would have “Singings”. I have two of her Shape Note Hymnals although she played classical piano well. Sweet, sweet memories. It makes my heart sing to hear this generation preserving traditional music
Thank you very much - and yes, you got the names right, both their real names and the nicknames, though I completely understand not being sure. Chance did say that the Longest Johns version of Wayfaring Stranger, from their Smoke and Oakum album in January 2022, was one of the inspirations for this. I'd love for you to react to Sound of Silence as well - as you picked up, they're supposed to go together, they were released on the same day, one on Chance's channel and one on H+F. Reilly is the producer, and has worked out a lot of Chance's solo music. (As well, of course, being part of FifGen, that made videos for Pentatonix, Peter Hollens and Home Free, among others.)
Eva Cassidy‘s version of Wayfaring Stranger is one of my all time favorite songs! ❤ I‘m a little sad you already heard it, so you can’t react to it anymore. 😅 But thank you for this performance. It’s still very beautiful in this version as well. 😊❤
Yes, The Sound of Silence, you will love it. And yes, you are right, both of them start where the other one end, endless loop! :) They have done quite a few together, and all of them are obviously really good. My favorite is "Hurt" or "Whistling Lad"
I for, well, more than one from the looks of it, would love to see/hear your reaction to the Sounds of Silence. They're meant to sort of loop around and one go into the other into the other visually and audibly. Chance has done a number of things with the Hound and Fox, but Wayfaring Stranger I have to admit is my favorite. They're all well worth hearing though. For their separate stuff, The Hound and Fox do both a lot of lullabies and a lot of eerie songs. Some of their covers I've particularly liked are Kiss Me and What Was I Made For, and they released an amazing (IMO) original about two months ago called Wicked Women (where I had forgotten, but Chance and his wife Sami provide some of the additional voices). Chance has been ramping up his solo releases in preparation for his first album release coming up, including some amazing originals. His songs are pretty far ranging in styles, but a cover I love is Far From Any Road, while the originals Song for Home and Ancient History (the latter of which released about 3 months ago) are amazing. (Edited because I mixed "Far From Any Road" into "Song from Home" as I was typing and somehow typed out "Far From Home")
Also I realize you're not gonna have a chance to listen to/watch all the videos that people are throwing you, and they may not be your style if you do. I guess this is as much a way to throw out my own likes as much as anything. But at the very least yes, please do Sound of Silence! (Which I always want to pin an extra "S" on Sound, I need to stop that.)
I saw you posted this while I was at work, but couldn't watch it until I got home. It was worth the wait! Beautiful song and great r/a. Yes, please r/a The Sound of Silence.
Great review. This song has so many verses, people kinda pick the ones that speak to them. I love how these guys selected ones that tell a story of making peace with end of life. My father at 89 brought me this song and asked me to put it on his phone. It was the last one I ever downloaded for him. It will always hold a piece of my heart. 🥰. Be sure to check out their song Whistling Lad. I was amazed to find it is an original.
Yess!! Please do the Sound of Silence (although I prefer this one more. They’re both amazing)! So happy you finally reacted to these three together. They blend so perfectly due to all three have the same type of whispery, soft voices that lend so well to Folk music. I hope you look into this couple more. When they go into the progressive notes after Mackenzie’s part, I always get chills! Love that part!
🧞🧞🧞 ,.. I am always staring at Chance in any video that he is in. There is something very special in his voice. I am glad you reacted to this. Beautiful indeed Now ................. 👏👏 Emmylou - Emmylou - Emmylou - Emmylou - Emmylou !!!!!!!!!! Please react to an Emmylou Harris song Sir Hairless 🎀 "Even Cowgirls Get The Blues" or "Making Believe"
Great 🎉🎉🎉🎉 thx Sir 😁😁 Another spectacular one, and i have to say that i love to rewatch your videos again and again 'cause they are sooo good. You're the best 🤩
I especially like this one on my Lakotah bird flute or my steel-tongue drum. Wish my flute were still playable. I need to have the fetish replaced. The trio looks to me like they''re standing in a large, corrugated drainage tile.
Yes, please do Sound of Silence. But you can't go wrong with a song done by these three: Whistling Lad, Hurt, A Christmas Song... And Reily(Hound) and McKenzie(Fox) have many more wonderful songs - they manage to do haunting songs in the most comforting way. An original written by McKenzie I love as an empowering anthem is Wicked Women (with background vocals by Chance and his wife Sami [among others] and Reily gets to dig in his rock roots a bit). I'm happy you got to discover H+F
I just saw you for the first time and i can say you are one of the best analysis TH-camrs ive seen. You actually listen to the songs and dont pause it every 10 seconds and i dont get bored listening to you ❤ If you read this i would love if you could do a reaction to the song: "La poderosa muerte" by the group los jaivas. Thank you 👍
Thank you so much! Hopefully I've done some other songs/artists that you like - all can be found in my various playlists www.youtube.com/@SirHairless/playlists
If you take notice they are performing this inside a storm-drain. The echo or reverb that's heard could be from that. I don't know if you have ever yelled inside one of those storm-drains, it has that effect. Good reaction, Sir.
I've actually never seen one in person! Maybe they're not very common where I'm from 😅 The reverb is definitely applied in-studio, but perhaps to mimic their surroundings in-video as you point out
I know this song, but I haven't figured out how I know it. I even know most of the lyrics. Maybe we did a version in the choir. I hate that it doesn't come to mind. I do like this interpretation. It sounds like country music, but the second singer sounds like a folk singer ❤R/A🎼
Here's my Home Free playlist if you want to see Chance doing his acapella stuff! th-cam.com/play/PL-tAjLxAAkA8tke9U4syn9TZIPAHIOrnN.html

with the holidays coming up, both Tim and Chance have done Christmas songs with H&F - "We Three Kings" and "The Christmas Song".
Whistling Lad is stunning!
Outstanding! @@nancyholter5646
SH, both of these are great and well-worth doing here!
the more I hear Adam Chance the more I appreciate him. The other two are also superb
One of my favorite collaborations from Chance. The Fox and the Hound are really lovely in their harmonies and they work really well with Chanced. Thanks for doing this one
My favorite with these three is Whistling Lad. My favorite they do with Tim Foust is Rock -a -Bye ( All the Pretty Little Horses.)
This is hauntingly beautiful! My favorite version by far! Thank you for analyzing this one, your analysis is always awesome!
Yes, please do Sound of Silence!
One thing I notice with these very skilled groups is their ability to LISTEN to each other as they sing. No one sings over the top of any other. Listening is a hugely vital part of singing.
Ahhh Chance. 💖💖💖
With that voice like smooth whiskey

Fantastic react, Sir! xx
My favorite colab with these three is an original "The Whistling Lad", I get obsessed with it at times.
Understandable.
I voted for this performance because I really liked it - the harmonies, the blend of their voices and the overall delivery - so soothing and yes - kinda spiritual. Thank you for your reaction and analysis Sir H - great stuff, as always! 👏🙏🫶💫

I agree on the sound of silence or any other song they do together.
Yes, The Sound of Silence, you will love it. And yes, you are right, both of them start where the other one end, endless loop! :)
