Hauntingly beautiful yet sends a powerful message. The do remind me of a pipe organ. Good reaction. This was released on Veteran's day 2021 (aka Armistice Day).
This is actually a cover of a cover. This five part harmony arrangement is from the Finnish A Capella group Club for Five. Tim asked Tuukka, their bass, for this arrangement. Tuukka sent it, then later highly praised and loved the "echo" sequences Home Free added to make it theirs.
As I am a %100 disabled medically retired US Army, this song brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it. It makes me slip back to the time I was Enlisted and all the people and Brother in Arms I had.
Tim and Avi sing together in the Home Free cover of "Ring of Fire" and I think Geoff from Voice Play helped set up the arrangement. Small community at the top of the game. Glad they get along since we all win from that.
"Mary, Did You Know" is also SPECTACULAR! I would love to hear your reaction of that! Please Do! I have followed HOMEFREE for twenty years, and have yet to be dissapointed!
Tim Foust is involved in fund-raising for U.S. veterans charities and is often joined by Austin Brown. There is also a video of Home Free "God Blessed Texas" from which all proceeds went to relief efforts following a natural disaster in Texas.
One thing I appreciate about Home Free is their respect for veterans. They can be very funny and lighthearted, but they know when it's time to be serious and give respect.
Adam Chance, often called just "Chance" to help keep him and Adam Rupp separate, the 2nd singer in this song was the BASS for his previous A Cappella Band. Street Corner Symphony. So HOME FREE is currently very equipped in the BASS area. LOL. Great Post.
Home Free released this for our Veterans Day last year. They are unapologetically patriotic and never shy away from sensitive social issues. Everybody Walkin This Land is a phenomenal message song. Make sure you listen to Tim's message at the end. One Voice ft Billy Gilman, and People ft Jeffrey East are 2 others. Great reactions!
TIM FOUST, the bass in the beginning, has a 5 octave range. Believe it or not, he can sing tenor as well as bass! He also writes and has written several of their songs! Thank you for your
They really are the masters of using sound AND silence to convey emotion. Their cover of “Helplessly Hoping “ is another great example of this. Glad you guys did this one!

Couldn't get here fast enough, as this is one of my favorites from HF. Yes, those chords! They did Mark Knopfler proud. I feel like they raised their own bar on this one - thank you!
This is nothing short of a masterpiece. Everything they put their hand to is elevated to gold standard. Perfection. Home Frees' musicianship is unparalleled. The more you delve into their body of work, the more impressed you will be. We promise.
“As a Human Race, We’re All God Damn Stupid!!!” Yup, we are! Please react to Home Free’s “Everybody’s Walking This Land.” And make sure you watch it all the way to the end of Tim’s out-take message! It was appropriate at the filming of the video just as it’s appropriate now and will be again tomorrow!!!!
FYI. This is actually not a cover of the Dire Strait’s original. Rather, it’s a cover of the version by Finnish group, “Club for Five”. Their bass is also a basso profundo, like Tim Foust. His name is Tuukka Haapaniemi. It’s that version that begins with a very deep bass solo. When HF decided to do this, they called “Club for Five” for permission to cover THEIR version.
@@colingreengrass6751 yes. But they really covered the CLUB FOR FIVE rendition. The one thing that stayed the same from the DIRE STRAITS original was the lyrics.
The guys from Home Free are masters of harmonies. It's fantastic how they recreate the mood of the song - a masterpiece. And Tim's fantastic bass voice is in my eyes the best there is at the moment, so powerful, expressive and flawless.
Having had a lot of family serve in some branch of the military this really hit home for me. Not all of my family made it home from war. They did a wonderful job on this master piece. ✌🌎✌🌎✌
You are right, I think they paid respect to the original song while doing it in their own interpretation. The song itself is iconic. This version is full of hauntingly beautiful harmonies and the lyrics takes you on a disturbing last journey of a fallen brother. If it doesn't make you think twice about the wisdom of war, you have no heart. When HF gets serious, you feel it to your very soul. You might enjoy 'In the Blood' or 'Helplessly Hoping'. For another style song you might check out HF's 'May Day' or 'Bless the Broken Road". For a Pentatonix flavor 'Ring of Fire' featuring Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix might be your cup of tea.
Thank you guys for reacting to this beautiful song! One thing I love about Home Free's guys is that when they're harmonizing together, they blend so perfectly BUT you can hear every single voice separately. They don't just sound like one big ear piercing noise like some other a cappella groups! Whether being serious or goofballs, their vocal quality never suffers one bit!😊
Hi there, I love this song, and Home Free more than do it justice. The switching between the action in black and white and the group in colour is really powerful to the message they are telling. Thanks for another great upload 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Home Free absolutely crushed this song. I've always been a fan of Dire Straits and Home Free did this so much justice. I think I saw BP1 a little misty-eyed 🙃 Thanks for the reaction guys!
Thank you for reacting to this song. It has become one of there signature songs along with MAN OF CONSTANT SORROWS, TAKE ME HOME COUNTRY ROADS and UNCHAINED MELODY. Tim Foust got this arrangement from a Finnish acapella group called Club Of Five and made some small changes to it (mainly added the echo sequence). When you get a chance you should listen to Club of Five’s version. This is very powerful moving version of this song. You are one of the few reactors to mention that they were sounding like a Pipe organ. As you are starting to find out these guys can sing any style and make it sound fabulous. Looking forward to your next Home Free reaction. You Gentlemen have a great day.
Fantastic harmonies as always by home free. Brothers in Arms is one of my top 10 ten tracks ever, a real classic and a true masterpiece by Dire Straits and the whole album is brilliant. All credit to Home Free for taking on such an icon track.
This is such a haunting version. They recorded an entire patriotic album and released this for Veterans Day in the United States…thank you so very much!
@@patriciamcl54 Agreed, I said it was included on a patriotic album as a descriptive because giving the name of the album would be meaningless. It is on the album out of respect and gratitude for those who sacrificed to protect their country. That theme is throughout the album, certainly use whatever word you feel appropriate. 🤗
Their amazing musical skills and the range of genres and emotional tone they cover, all without celebrity shells makes them unique in my book. This piece has the reverence of Taps or bagpipes at a funeral for me.
Such a genius touch to show the silhouette of the fellas in front of the window. I know some see it as a "ghost"y reference but it strikes me as a reflection of the POW/MIA flag. We'll never know just how many of those met the same fate as the soldier of this song. 😥
Home Free did a great job again. They just give it their own twist, but still respect the original.. But I think I've already seen and heard all their videos and of course not one has disappointed me. Because you can sing a song well, but if it only reaches your ears and not your heart and soul then it is not complete for me. But HF reaches me deep inside so they are perfect for me. I really listen to HF every day. Not only because of their great voices, each with their own specialty, which makes the harmonies so phenomenal I think. Not only by the inhuman mouth artist Adam Rupp, although I do think he is the glue of the group. But for me it's their great personalities, the love for each other and the fun they have together that makes it complete for me. No egos, no rivalry.
Give “Sea Shanty Medley” a go and “Amazed” as well as “Dreamer” which is an original HF song that is live with Texas Hill from Roman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. There are so many good ones to choose from, you can’t go wrong with any of them.

THANK YOU! You are the very first reactors I have seen who recognized the pipe organ. I have sung with pipe organs, and they have really captured it...especially the last 2 chords.
Just an amazing job by Home Free. On your journey another serious one of theirs is "Everybody walkin' this land" a cover of a Mark Cauthen song...it was Home Free's response to the terrible Civil Unrest in 2020 after the death of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis. Tim has an awesome message after the song is over, please listen to it
Thank you so much for reacting to this sing. Home Free did this song so hauntingly and ghostly. Maybe try...In The Blood...What We Ain't Got. If you have time. Thanks again.
Thanks guys for doing the Home Free reactions! We fans just love these guys. They have so many styles of songs. Some that I love In the Blood, Mayday, End of the Road (Boys II Men cover), Workin for a Living, Everybody Walkin This Land, Sea Shanty Medley, My Church, doo-wop version of Blue Ain't Your Color, Crazy, Unchained Melody just released recently.. Fun ones, serious ones, fast-paced songs, old classics like American Pie with Don McLean singing with them. Thanks again! Take care.
Well, I'm a Pentaholic but love all things acapella. The human voice is totally amazing. Austin Brown's cover of Unchained Melody is amazing. When a Man Loves a Woman is also a mind blower.
I was really hoping you'd do this. I was looking forward to seeing BP1s face with Tim's bass! It's so haunting and beautifully put together. You're right, so apt right now. Thank you for doing this one.
A beautiful rendition of this song which, as BP1 said, with what's going on today, really drives home the message. It also shows their ability to take any type of song and do it justice. There are many great choices to fill out the month. You can't go wrong. Great score BTW.
Tim, Avi, and Geoff are often involved in each other's music. Avi joins Home Free in "Ring of Fire"' and Geoff arranged Home Free's version of "Elvira" which featured their musical predecessors, The Oak Ridge Boys. That brought another bass, Richard Sterban of the Oaks. Both of these are well worth your time.
This is what I love about these guys. They are quick to praise each other. I love how Tim bows to Richard. Such respect. Like we had The Three Tenors.. We should have the Three Basses. It would destroy all speakers :) I have read that each has helped the others out with things like singing, etc. And, each has their own tone..... I am partial to Tim and Home Free, though.
May I suggest "Helplessly Hoping" by Home Free, a Cosby, Stills and Nash cover. Unbelievable harmonics. Thanks for the reaction and look forward to more.
If you react to Home Free, the Home Fries will come! As a Home Fry, I recommend How Great Thou Art, Helplessly Hoping, Ring of Fire (with Avi Kaplan), Bless This Broken Road, Woman/Amen, My Church, Man of Constant Sorrow. Wait until you’ve become pretty familiar with the group to do Mayday (but it sounds like you’re pretty close). Winter Song is another of my favorites. Champagne Tastes (Beer Budget) is an original by Tim, and if you watch, you’ll see a cameo of Avi Kaplan. Enjoy the Home Free rabbit hole - it’s deep, but you won’t want to escape!
Love watching you guys react to acapella music. This is a really great song. A Finnish acapella band called Club for Five does a really great job with this. You can add Tuukka Haapaniemi to you list of unbelievable basses.
Enjoying your HF focus. Recent HF video to react to is Unchained Melody and not so recent is Everybody’s Walking this Land. Both are serious with excellent vocals and strong messages. Thx guys!!
Thank you for the Home Free reaction. Gotta go back now and see your previous reactions to HF. As a Home Fry, I appreciate you taking the time. Cheers!
Thank you for the reaction video. My parents immigrated to the US as children during WW2 from Ukraine. To see the destruction and death that is going on there now is tearing my heart out of my chest listening to this song. Thank you to Great Britain for all the help they have provided to the men and women fighting for their freedom right now. I stand with Ukraine 🇺🇦!!!!!!
Great reaction. My suggestions are for a Chance lead, “I Can’t Outrun You”…5 part harmony and Chance directed the video. “End of the Road”, Rob lead, shared with Austin. Rob’s soul just oozes with his delivery. “Champagne Taste (on a beer budget), Tim lead,he also wrote it, and it’s hilarious. “Blue Ain’t Your Color”, Rob lead, shared with Chance. It’s Motownesque.
One of my favorites of theirs. Dire Straits is guitar driven where this is voice driven. Yeah Tim can get down there. It’s hauntingly beautiful. Loved Tim’s low notes. Loved the echoes. Loved the almost black and white film. Tim and Chance looked ghost like in the windows. You’re not the only guys to say their singing sounds like a church organ. Yes, Home Free is all those things….silly and serious, they can make you laugh or cry. Their harmonies are so good. Try Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, One Man Band, In the Blood. Good reaction boys!😀
Yeah this is a pretty heavy track. I remember being in high school when this album came out. Shiny new LP jacket to sit on the living room floor and read while you're listening to masterpiece after masterpiece. And the message never get's old.....it's the same the world over. We go out, cause harm and suffering to our fellow humans all for what? Land? Resources? For "things"....life isn't about "things". Theres so much more than enough for it to go around if we'd only just listen instead of turning a blind eye to this kind of wealth mongering. I truly do well up whenever I listen to this, either version to be honest, because of the unrelenting HOPE for that day that we'll no longer yearn for it. Keep on the Home Free search gents, its well worth it. Man of Constant Sorrow is a true must, before you move on. And you HAVE to end with Mayday LOL
@Daniel O'Sheigh Hi Daniel, I missed a few of your comments and replies, I do apologise. We have finished our Artist Spotlight for Home Free but will be returning to them more often and will add your requests to the list of ones to give a try. As for the LP, it was a great album and as you say just filled with great tracks and this tune is still so relevant today as it was back then. We never learn. Hope the move is going well. Oh, we are starting to add a new "Britpop" section, looking back on some of the great bangin songs from back in the day. Cheers for now
How many men throughout time have always thought they'd live out their lives in their hometown. Then answered a call to arms and fallen halfway around the world. "These mist-covered mountains are a home for me now, but my home is the Lowlands and always will be.

Nice rendition, respectful and well done. B1, you hit the nail on the head about the human race!! Amen. B2, did you like the Mark Knopfler/Emmylou Harris All The Roadrunning? I really liked that one. Chuey sends both his favorite Brits love, furry little kisses and blessings of peace, he senses your pain. We all need blessings of peace........
@Chuey's Mama The guys really did a very respectful version and I was a bit worried as the original is one of my favourites. I have watched Mark with Emmylou and they sound great together. I doubt it would be B1's style but I certainly enjoy it. We should get more furry kisses sent out all over the world, it would be better than what is going on at the moment.
@@BritPopsReact Yes my dear B2, the world could use all kinds of love and peace, or at least a really really accurate sniper. I hope you and yours are all well and safe, with all the heavy shit going on. My 1st husband was a military man, Gulf War veteran. I know all to well how that can screw someone up. Furry kisses and love to all.

There is a video of the three bases you mentioned, and they can each out do each other. The three of them are not of this planet, amzing.
Thank you for the Home Free reaction. Gotta go back now and see your previous reactions to HF. As a Home Fry, I appreciate you taking the time. Cheers!
Love home free; you've got to listen to Do you hear what I hear! Brilliant arrangement.
Excellent reaction, guys ! Nice rendition :-)
Great song, great performance.Thank you, friends.Wonderful reaction!👏👏👏🇷🇺
If you want another song to show their harmony (and a very rare chance to hear Adam’s sweet tenor, check out How Great Thou Art.
You're Hongries too...and we love our cousins!... everyday!
Homfries...sorry
Great reaction. My suggestions are for a Chance lead, “I Can’t Outrun You”…5 part harmony and Chance directed the video. “End of the Road”, Rob lead, shared with Austin. Rob’s soul just oozes with his delivery. “Champagne Taste (on a beer budget), Tim lead,he also wrote it, and it’s hilarious. “Blue Ain’t Your Color”, Rob lead, shared with Chance. It’s Motownesque.
❤❤
So I've never looked at this like the Monty Python skit where the captives are played as a human organ. Now I have that image stuck in my head
@Mike the Dad Crosby
That is very funny and now you mention it, we can't un-see it either.
Thanks for the comment
You should really check out Home Free's When A Man Loves A Woman-it's amazing.
@Daniel O'Sheigh
Hi Daniel, I missed a few of your comments and replies, I do apologise.
If you want to hear Tim and Avi singing bass together...try Home Free's cover of Ring of Fire..Great Johnny Cash song and the cover is great with both bass voices.
@Chuey's Mama
The guys really did a very respectful version and I was a bit worried as the original is one of my favourites.
This song by Homefree reminds me of the Gregorian monks chanting in the medieval castle chapels.
