I love the Federalist. I see tan but I have other tan micarta knives that say they’re green. I took mine apart once reassembled I got mine to be tighter alleviating the easy closing feeling. PS, I was disappointed it had a plastic back spacer.
This is on my long list of knives to get. Will try to get one soon, we’ll see when lol i do see a tan/brown color in the micarta. Thanks for the look JB

I have noticed this as a widespread problem with knife manufacturers - color blindness. So many manufacturers call tan - green, green - black- blue - gray etc. I have been thinking about starting a Go Fund Me for a project to help these poor blighted manufacturers. My goal is to buy enough color charts for every knife manufacturer on the planet. That way all they have to do is take a knife, hold it up to the chart and match the color of the knife handle to the color chart. Brilliant right? Who is with me on this?
I would say it's definatly tan but it's possible when you get some oil on it the green may come through. This is one of the first double detent knives I've seen that wasn't a fidget knife so it seems like it would be safer with that stronger lockup and not be prone to snapping closed on you with minimal pressure. Price is ok for being USA made with good quality materials. Looks like a great knife overall. Thanks for the look see JB and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

I'm going tan Micarta, all the way! At $105-ish, it's not too bad for a knife made by my home team. CIVIVI's are in the $60-$90 range; so, I don't have a big issue with the current price, and it's a great looking blade. Thanks, JB!

Tan but can look like a hint of green in certain lighting, I would definitely cut up my fingers with that non locking slip joint, but classie looking piece...well done review brother 😉
I really like the looks of this one! I see tan also. I’ve seen other companies list their micarta as green also even though it looks pretty darn brown/tan to my eye. Not sure what qualifies as “green”, but it’s apparently different than what I would’ve guessed.
Lol I see so many tan micarta scales that the knife company calls green, it's unreal! Being color blind doesn't help lol but I'm red deficient not green, so I'm glad someone finally said it! 😅 I like this knife, it's a looker!
Just bought one today. I think it’s tan. My Hinderer Emmett has green micarta which almost looks like this but you can see the green hue in it. The Federalist doesn’t have that hue. Otherwise it’s a fantastic knife.
That micarta looks tan on my screen but maybe it reacts differently to different oils or amounts of oil that it might absorb? Great looking knife either way. Thanks for the review!

I like the lines on the knife, which I didn't care for when I first saw it on release. KAI always seems to have problems with their grinds and edges. I had a similar issue with my ZT. Also, it looks like a washed out green.
Looks tan to me, but I'm colorblind (I can distinguish colors but some confuse me). This looks great, JB! I have a couple of Kershaws, an Emerson CQ6C and a Concierge, and both are very nice; the Emerson is a sturdy tool and the Concierge is a gentleman's carry.
I’m not too surprised on the price point. I’m sure the CPM154 is a good part of what drives the price higher - think how the Benchmade Proper priced out with S30V. From what I can gather, CPM154 is often put in the same category with S35VN and Elmax. Those are some pretty respected counterparts.
Where's the green? I see Tan. Is that a Star Wars rebel or resistance logo on the blade? Like the size better compared to the Benchmade Proper. Great job JB.

I’m definitely a slip joint kind of guy, more old school but I really like them micarta. Definitely pretty cool knife but I think a bit out of my price range for that style a knife. This and the GM Farley are some of the best looking slip joints! The price…eehhh sure it would be cool to see it under $100… BUT the matierials are great and if it’s TRULY USA made (seems like “fake news” at this point) then ok it’s not awful.

Tan with a slight hue shift toward green…lol. I like that steel but If you are going to make a knife with this construction it may as well have a liner lock or an axis lock. JMHO, people in Europe May disagree.
What you see is a low chroma green. What does chroma mean? What it means is that the intensity of the color. Grey is all the colors mixed together. When you darken grey it becomes black. When you brighten gray. It becomes white. So what happens when you mix grey with green? You get what is known among artists as low chroma green. Which works with all colors. For example you can have a low chroma red, blue, purple(gay purple), and etc. Green on the rgb scale is R0 G1 B0. Has a higher chroma than what you have in the scales of this knife. RGB is a tangent so lets not go down that rabbit hole and confuse you even more about color theory. You are confusing green with brown, tan is a type of brown, because when all the colors loose their chroma. They start to look like each other.

Right on my friend! Oh yeah....A few stokes on a ceramic rod and it had a very workable edge. a true sharpening would have it tuned up nice!!
