yeahhhhh! Dang ol mccurdy dirty dirt bike dang ol adventures! It's about time! I have been staring at my screen for weeks waiting for another mccurdy outdoors.
Hi Doug, just found your channel. You are doing a good job showing trails. I have rode (ATV) all over the areas you show. I live out of state now. I like watching your videos and remembering the rides. I will be coming back this coming summer and bringing my RZR XP . maybe I will cross your trail somewhere.
I was up at the north fork of Boise river above Idaho city a few weeks ago.. was really cool. I'm headed up to Atlanta from Idaho city on Monday the 6th...going be awesome. Idaho is such a great place to own a sxs!
I wanted to ask you, do you recommend anyone local for rzr work (top end rebuilds for example). The farther out into the hills I go the more I think about my high miles... I was hoping you knew somebody you think is reasonable. Thx
@@iggykoopa7756 A lot of local shops will do services and upgrades but beyond that I'm assuming you'd have to visit a dealer. Could ask 208 Offroad or 208 Performance but I'm not 100% sure.
We just ordered a criterion cargo trailer from kaveman trailers out of Kuna/Nampa. We'll be able to haul our sxs and camp out of it. Definitely worth looking into. We were able to special order it with an RV door and additional windows to accommodate more of a "camper" feel. Thanks for the video! Can't wait to get our trailer so we can do some exploring
Thank you! That's awesome I'll have to look into them! Have my eyes set on ATC / Colorado Trailers thus far. I like the idea of storsge/bathroom but not in a 30+ foot toy hauler.
I went the enclosed route with RV door for the same reason, I failed to get a window though 😩. I'm going to need to do that for sure. They also sell a big zip up screen that buttons up at the back of the trailer to keep bugs out while the ramp is down that looks very handy.
Wow! Nice video. I want to go out to idaho this summer for tent camping and four wheelin. (ATV). I want to hit Island Park, and Stanley and now you have me interested in this area. Do these places have trail maps like they do for snowmobiles? Any info or advice would be appreciated.
I've only found Forest Service maps. But you can find anything on the www.trails.idaho.gov website. Shoot me an email and I can send ya in the right dirrction.
Hi Doug, what do you use for trail maps? I'm from MI and plan on taking a trip out in the summer - trying to map out an overnight or two. I want to start out in Boise and head to wherever! Looks like you have a good amount of experience in these trails, any insight is greatly appreciated!
Awesome you picked a good place to visit! Most of the area is covered in forest service roads - there really isn't a "trail system" per say. I'd look around Pine/Featherville or Idaho City - lots of area to explore. Also I'd recommend google maps and parksandrecreation.idaho.gov/motorized-trails/
Question for you, why do you run a GPS behind the steering wheel when you have a ride command equipped buggy? I just got the turbo r with ride command, are they not reliable GPS systems?
My phone gps has a better maping system and I can take it anywhere, whether hiking, boating, or in the pickup. Has tons of camping locations, hotsprings, hunting areas, etc. The ride command is useful for not getting lost, but I just don't use it.
@@McCurdyOutdoors ah I gotcha! What mapping system are you using on the phone? I have onx on mine. May start using it as a back up on my ride. I’ve noticed my ride command likes to erase my ride from time to time.
Used OnX but didn't like that I couldnt import my maps/rides. I use Backcountry Navigator because I have several state wide maps and older forest service maps loaded into it. It's also very user-friendly with plotting markers and whatnot. Been using it for years and not willing to change haha. I've had the same thing happen with Ride Command erasing stuff and I'd rather monitor temps and whatnot on that screen anyway.
That looks really fun....the title says "200 mile loop".....how are you managing your fuel?....I've got a 2019 Turbo S4 (only about 300 miles on it) and first ride I realized it was very thirsty, I figure about 95-100 miles with no reserve....Thanks!
We got about 140 miles with about 1 gallon still in the tank. We knew we were stretching it though and were cruising about 40 most of the day. We grabbed fuel in Featherville and looped back. The Turbo can get descent fuel mileage but its all right foot controlled 😉
I always rely on my trip meter to know my gas level rather than the Polaris fuel gauge. If you're not familiar, they're rarely very accurate, just my 2 cents.
I've heard others use the tripmeter, which is what I use also..I did a poor job asking my question..for a 200 mile loop how much extra fuel did you bring and how do have it in your car.
@@Titantramp4u We didn't bring any extra fuel on this trip. I use Google maps and the Idaho Trails website to preplan routes and figure out mileage to avoid carrying extra fuel. In the rare cases we do bring fuel, its generally on the passenger floorboard/seat or in the backseat of a 4seater. Just my 2 cents but never put fuel in the bed or above the bed in any UTV. We started with a full tank in Idaho City.
Hey, how do Josh and Rachael like the spare on the roof? I'm considering doing it because we carry so much stuff in the back. My concern is that it will make the RZR too heavy and want to roll easier.
Hey Rocco, can't decide on what type of spare tire carrier I want yet. I like the tire on the roof just fine, haven't noticed any negative to the weight up there on the roof. low-hanging limbs was my only concern on the East coast trails that I ride, but never had an issue last time out. Definitely love having room for 2 dry bags, cooler, tool box and chainsaw in the back.
@@joshuabright547 thanks for the reply. Good to know that you haven't noticed any negatives. I guess the nice thing is I can test it by straping it down before doing anything permanent. The only other option I can think of is getting a rear bumper and mounting it there but that's going to be like 300 bucks whereas mounting to the roof is pretty much free.
I looked for this comment too. Too Dangerous for people going the other way. We have kids that ride these trails, they’d die if they ran into this guy.
We started from Grimes creek but if you want to start from Idaho City unload at the Granite Creek parking lot just past Idaho City heading towards Lowman (Granite Creek Road FS327) and follow 327 all the way to the North Fork Boise River. There's tons of trails and side roads in that area if your wanting to get off the main road and explore.
Doug, I was just above Pine the other weekend on Trinity Mountain Rd. and saw a doe with twin albino fawns. Let me know if you'd like the gps coordinates and I'll reach out to you on Facebook.
Awesome vid! Bout time we see some more videos without music and speeds above 2 miles an hour on flats driven by gramps and his buddies that can’t find the gas pedal

Dong ole weather needs to start cooperating! This rain every week is nuts!
Can't wait to get out that way! Thanks for the videos.
It's worth it! Thanks for watching!
Great driver 👍🏻

I will! Never been happier owning a 4-seat RZR, its like a station wagon for camping gear lol ... Can fit a week's worth of stuff in the back seat

You guys ever ride up in north idaho?
Never rode up there, it's beautiful though. Lot of 50" only stuff I've heard.

For Real. I went thru the whole comment section looking for someone else to say it to. Over 30 mph on that road is a death sentence. I mean wtf?!?
