What a great adventure.. I’m new at jeep wheeling and many years doing atv / side by sides, there are many things you shouldn’t do while wheeling on any of these machines.. drinking is the worst.. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for backing that up. I've had plenty of good encounters with SXSs from folks who take it seriously. Unfortunately I've had just as many bad experiences from folks who don't. I think part of it because they are so easy to rent for the day..and they are so dang capable, that there are often beginners or very casual riders on tough trails. In any case, drinking and wheeling is just stupid.
That was a pretty impressive feat for Nick. He seemed like he was well outside his comfort zone, especially on the waterfall spot. You could tell his stress was at an all time high going up and down it because he wasn’t even able to focus on the spotter and follow direction. I think we’ve all been there when you deal with off-roading, and it’s a good lesson to push through and conquer. Hopefully it helps him in the future if he is going to keep getting off of the pavement. The entire episode was fantastic.
This is such a great comment. Thank you for pointing that out about Nick. We were all really proud of him, even if there were a few tense spots. What we didn't show in the video is before we left for Smiley Creek...we all sat down and toasted the day, shared what we learned, and generally debriefed.
Very well put together film I enjoyed watching. Rocklanding/ over landing sure is a cool way to get out and explore I’m in the process of a build, these videos are getting me pumped up
My in-laws have a place above smiley creek, milkshakes are great there. I have yet to make it up with my jeep from SD but I may have to find that trail when I do. Thanks for another great adventure.
I love Smiley Creek. It’s such a cool stop. The community of folks who live there are pretty great too! Hope you get your Jeep out there one of these days!
Awesome video man, looks like a fun trail! Seeing a traffic jam on a trail will hopefully shed light on why some of us don’t share all the locations of places we travel to make videos. I need to tag along with you guys and Nick, I feel like another Toyota with smaller tires will help him build confidence because traveling with a bunch of built Jeeps can seem intimidating.
Finally got a chance to see this video Will. Man that trail with the gate keeper section was amazing to see all those rigs get through, including your JL and the Bronco. Great video editing and drone shots! 👍
Love your video. I hate when I see multiple spotters giving direction at the same time. Land Cruiser had no business being on the trail with 2 wd. Going through the Idaho forests now I always bring a electric chains saw to supplement the hand saws I have. Last trip over Pinion Peak I had to remove 6 trees. With all the rain on the boulders I would always be afraid of slicing a sidewall as the water just makes a good lube for that sort of thing. Keep up the great videos.
That diesel swapped Cruiser was amazing!!!! So was the WAR PIG!!!! My favorite rig on the trail that day. It was actually sad and frustrating to see the Cruiser incapacitated due not having a front drive shaft (as in he came on the trail without a front drive shaft).
What a fun adventure! I wish there was more footage of that 4runner getting through the boulder sections--have a similarly sized rig and gives me confidence! Great fun all round!

Pretty sweet trail, and video. People running around in SxS’s drinking makes me so mad, one cause it’s the same type of people leaving bud light cans all over the trail, and they don’t respect it. I have both a SxS and 4Runner, and I’ve been on both ends were jeep guys are a$$holes, and SxS guys are a$$holes. Honestly, I’m glad most vehicles have plates, and those dudes should definitely be turned in for drinking and driving.
I’m glad you said it’s not just the SXS folks who do it…I’ve seen it just as bad with full sized rigs too. Bottom line is we have to take care of each other and take care of the trails.
Wait - you called me out for over dramatizing (which I 100% do so no argument)...then called this the wimpiest trail you've ever seen...lol. I think THAT's a little dramatic don't you think? Not saying it's the hardest trail you've ever seen...but it's not wimpy...come drive it before being so dramatic about it lol. Cheers.
Bagging on the side by sides, the peanut gallery, the guy going up without a front drive shaft. They were all there for the same reason you guys were. I love what you’re doing but off roaders need to stay united.
@@JasonJedry From my perspective, it wasn’t judgemental. We recovered those guys in the Landy. We didn’t have to do that…we helped them out because it was the right thing to do, and like you say..we stick together. I disagree with their choice, but that’s not judgemental. The side by sides showed up and I called them the Calvary, or the Peanut Gallery, or both. So I was saying they showed up to help (the Calvary) but a bunch of them stood around shouting things (the peanut galley). But I didn’t mean it as an insult..it was just what happened. I do take issue with drinking and wheeling though. That’s not a good thing to promote. It was a very tense situation. Hope that helps give context. It’s hard to get all of that in the video without it being 2hrs long.
Judgemental, not at all, this is why America is weak. You say what you want to say and f everybody brotha. Tell them to write a note on your suggestion box toilet paper 🚽 wheel on my friend
😂😂😂. I get that I have viewers that drive different types of rigs though, and honestly do not see myself as judgemental. I do disagree with certain decisions though… in the end, we helped everyone out, and even shared a camaraderie moment with the SXS crew.
I have a 98 xj on 33s with a 4.5 lift.. Rock sliders , Trans and transfer case protection.. and a manual 5 speed.. I trust my spotters to get me through the rough stuff.. this trail looked challenging but very doable.. with a beautiful prise at the end.. I also run 10 to 15 psi, no bead locks.. slow and steady wins the race everytime.. thanks for the adventure..

Dude. Americans are just all about the drama. Seriously the whimpiest trail I've ever watched with the most hyped up drama ever. Classic Americans.
Cheers.
Ah, I see Chris is a fellow MeatEater. 😉
Indeed.
A little judgmental in this video…
What did you find judgmental??
Thanks for listening. We’ve wheeled just about everywhere you’ve put out there and it keeps getting busier and busier here.
You guys are as nice as it gets...far from judgmental as far as can tell by having seen several of your videos...@@Venture2Roam
Should have bout a Jeep... Just sayin.. Its going to be really expensive to lift that thing properly.. Best bet is probably Portals... =/ cool but expensive...
He’s since moved on to a BRaptor. 🤷♂️
