Love your videos Kent! I grew up in Texas and now live in Colorado. So many of your stories of family remind me of mine. So sorry you lost your house in the South Fork/Salt Fire. I was down there for a week working with Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief back in June. Hopefully, you got a chance to be blessed by that organization and volunteers. Keep the videos rolling...I'm cookin' a roast this Sunday for sure!!!
Thank you for volunteering with Samaritan’s Purse! They and Mercy Chefs were the two charities we saw serving my community best after Hurricane Michael. One of the most surreal moments in my life was watching Operation Christmas Child boxes being handed out in my hometown, after we’ve filled shoeboxes as part of our family tradition every year, for as long as I can remember. I still get teary remembering it.
Kent I will forever be gratefull. Years ago I watched a video of you cooking beans and I had never eaten beans before, so I tried and got hooked! Meanwhile I started a permaculture on my property and now heirlooms beans growing all over the place, waiting to be eaten in a warm nutritious soup this winter. Thank you !!!
It's amazing the emotion I felt when you talked about gathering with your family around the table. These aren't just cooking videos, Kent. You're taking us back to our youth, when times were hard, challenging, and rewarding. Thank you for the trip.
Please don't forget that you can take the leftover pot roast, dice it up with the gravy to make a hash that you can store in the fridge overnight, THEN bring it out next evening and heat it up, slop it on tortillas with cheese/salsa/sour cream or however you like it, to make one of THE BEST leftover dishes that is HASH BURRITOS.
That's what I do after Thanksgiving. Take everything leftover and throw it all together in a skillet. I mean everything lol. Turkey mashed taters gravy stuffing green beans cranberry sauce. Heat it all up to a slop and dig in . Fantastic
I absolutely love that prayer at the end. My grandmother, being 97 years old, we still pray this on Christmas Even to this day. Looking forward to December to thank Jesus again.
Kent that's a good looking camp wagon and the place y'all are at now. Really enjoy y'all's videos and the yummy food. God bless you and the wife and pups
Kent, WOW you brought back so many memories of Sunday dinner after church. Also of neighbors and friends who were there to lend a helping hand if you needed anything. This is what is so very wrong with America. NO ONE CARES ABOUT ANYONE ANYMORE< THEY ARE TO BUSY LOOKING OUT FOR THEMSELVES.
I miss the America we grew up in. We weren't republicans, or democrats, we were neighbors and friends. If you seen your neighbor out working on a project, most of the neighbors would show up to lend a hand, and it always turned into a bar b que, or large dinner. It seemed like we had a slight reminder after 9/11, but we soon forgot.....
I wanted to write the same exact thing. I´m turning 61 this year, but the memories of sitting around my grandparent´s table on Sundays after church here in the piney woods of East Texas are still very fresh. Maw-maw was a great cook and baker.
Nothing wrong with a splash of red wine in your pot roast or beef stew. It's good to mix up your recipes a little bit so that you can eat the same meal and have a different flavor the next time. Example: Add Thyme to you recipe. Next time, add Rosemary instead. Next time add some Paprika instead. Its the same recipe with three different flavors.
This has been one of my favorite videos you’ve posted because of the family connection and photographs! Please…more about your mom and everyone who helped steer you through cooking! And Especially thank you for sharing the prayer that was said by your family before eating! May the Lord bless you and Shannon, Sir! 🙏🏻🙋♀️❤️
I am 72 now and still never forget those sun. Dinners. My grandma always had a couple loaves of baked bread ready for the meal. Loved that bread with the gravy…..mmmmm. Thanks
I so agree with you, I wish we could back up and raise my grandchildren in my youth's time, I am 68 and so miss those days. I love your videos and have bought 3 of your books and some seasonings-thank you for not changing and keeping our old ways.
Oh wow it’s beautiful there, Kent! I love the relief of the cool mountain air during the hot summer. You just appreciate it so much. Pot roast looks amazing, BTW and the new/old wagon is gorgeous. God be praised you and your family are doing well. ✝️🙏🏻
Another great show Ken! Love your camp and wagon and you including your 4 legged pals. Thanks so much for sharing them & including your witness and your love for our country. We really appreciate you!
People say life changes and forget about what used to be, but I can't. I love the old videos . Those were the best times of my life. No matter how hard I try to fill the emptiness I can't replace the happiness that the elders brought me, and nothing in life now makes me smile like they did. I feel lost as a blind man in a rain storm nowadays😢❤
God bless the Rollins family. And the old fashion cooking always takes me home. The wagon is awesome Mr Kent. Thank you Ms Shannon for your awesome videos. God bless everyone in this beautiful world we live in
Kent I doubt you know how much people love and respect Cowboy Kent. Your attitude and personality just make people feel good about living and happy to know there are folks like you in the world. Bless you and your wife for making us all feel welcome and hungry! 😊
@@CowboyKentRollins my dad was an auto mechanic and my mom did upholstery work in the living room. My dad brought home about a hundred dollars a week in the 50s 60s. Mom and dad are gone now for some years, but the memories will live as long as I do. Thanks for this Mr. Rollins. From one old cowboy to another, you nailed this one.
My parents, aunts, uncles and my grandparents were around in the Great Depression era. One of my maternal aunts, who is in her 90s, told me once that long ago, people did a lot of sharing. I’m 68 yrs young next week but had to tell you….if you were my neighbor, we’d be hangin out often. We aint that far apart distance-wise as I’m just barely south of the red river. Love you and your family, your humor and your patriotic love if man and country. May God continue to bless you and yours.
