I travel to Japan frequently on business. Told wife how nice these things were, and got the ‘not interested’ stare. Bought the C5 and now she complains I didn’t get this earlier. The warm water and warm seat wins the gals over on first use, but overall cleanliness is what makes everyone enjoy. Savings on TP along pays for itself. No brained.
I visted Japan for the first time a few 4 years ago and fell in love with these toilets. They are common in South Korea too. I ended up taking a risk and purchasing a panasonic one two years ago. I didn't want to spend too much just in case there were any issues as I live in the UK that has different voltage so I'd keep to a modest budget. I got it working and now I can't live without it. The only snag with these toilets is the cost of installing. Therefore, making water and electricity connections in a safe way and in my case the added cost of a voltage converter. However, now that it's done it will be easier to upgrade in the future. I recomend anyone purchasing one if on vactaion in Japan. If you show your passport you don't pay tax. The electrical store will stick on a plastic handle to the box and some polystyring straps. The airline can mark it as fragile too so it will pop out on the carousel in good shape when you get home. However, just be ready to explain to Customs that's it's a toilet seat and not a DVD player. : )
Traveling in Japan from 1990-2010 (50+ visits), I can say Toto is the high quality brand. Knowing where the water sprays and how it adjusts is a mystery seldom addressed - -you did a great job in this demonstration-it is the most important thing about the function of the unit and why it exists. Walking in Japan in the summer humidity is punishing, and to have unpleasant things happening down there after eating delicious food of unknown origin, the bidet came to a true rescue. These are much more affordable than 20 yrs ago - -and much better features.
Coming back from Hawaii, we fell in love with the Toto bidet! It was the major takeaway from the trip in which hubby and I both agreed it was a must-have. One week later upon our return home, the bidet was purchased! We got the C5 wash let. Heated seats, remote, and deodorizing filter. We are VERY satisfied with our purchase!
We installed a very similar toilet when we renovated our downstairs toilet (in the UK) & we definitely plan to install something similar in our upstairs bathroom when we renovate that. Visitors are either very excited to use it or daunted by it! I had no idea you could get just the toilet seat & install it on an existing toilet!
Several years ago now I was lucky enough to go to Japan. I enjoyed the culture, the people, and their ingenuity. I loved using a bidet and questioned why we use so much toilet paper in the USA. I'm still living in an apartment but I will definitely be purchasing one of these eventually for my future house. Thanks for sharing!
Once you use one of those you will want one for sure. I bought mine after a trip to Japan. I the morning we have to fight in the family every one what to use it. More confortable, cleaner and much less toilet paper. I have my Toto for over 10 years now, never had an issue.
I had the downstairs bathroom stripped and a new bathroom fitted. I told the builder I wanted a Japanese style toilet and he had never heard of them! In the UK people have either tried one on holiday and are converts or know nothing about them! At the moment I was quoted 20 weeks delivery for a full Japanese toilet so I went for a Bidet seat matched to a toilet that all came as one package. The electrician, plumber and builder thought it was very funny, especially the nightlight! Works like a dream and I wouldn't go back to the toilet paper.
awesome vid thank you so much for tackling this issue in the most natural and techical way. My husband and I had the opportunity to experience those Toto washlet in 2010 the first time we visited Japan, higyene is so important that this alone can make you feel safer and cleaner obviously.
Tara...you--and your hubby--are naturals at putting these types of videos together. I appreciate that you provide very detailed information on all of the important points, and in a very concise manner! You're factual and cover the practicality of the product in a very fun and pleasant manner. Great job! Having worked in the electrical world for the past 35 years, I would just offer words of caution to anyone thinking of getting one of these fabulous seats. As you noted, the U.S. is way behind countries like Japan when it comes to providing the proper accommodations by default for toilet bidet seats. The truth is, you have to make sure the available electric source can handle the demands of these seats. My seat, for example, can use up to 1,800 watts of power. That draws 15 amps of current. A "normal" AC outlet in the U.S. has a 15-amp rating. If my seat alone didn't trip the breaker for this circuit, powering-up an additional electrical device on this same circuit would. Fortunately, most electrical codes in the U.S. require the use of 20-amp circuits in bathrooms, which you most likely have in your apartment. 20-amp circuits can handle 2,400 watts. I didn't look-up the current draw for your bidet seat, but I'm curious if you can use your seat at full current draw and run the hair dryer at the same time without tripping the GFCI outlet? What can become a fire hazard is when you have to run an extension cord to the toilet. Using a cord that is too long and/or rated too low for the job could cause the cord to overheat, potentially causing a fire. I would use the shortest cord possible and nothing rated under 20 amps. When my house was built 20 years ago, I didn't think to run dedicated 20-amp circuits to each toilet in the house (or future toilet locations). When the pandemic hit, I had the same thoughts as you. I ordered 3 bidet seats, but I also had to run a dedicated 20-amp circuit to each toilet to make the seats functional. Only the toilet seats are plugged into those outlets...nothing else.
I've had my Toto C5 for a year now. Am I in love with it - not really. It's such a process and I still use TP or a small washcloth to pat myself dry. No way that blower will dry you completely unless you have plenty of time to sit there. I watched many videos before purchasing, what most don't mention is the smaller opening than a standard seat or the slant of the seat. I'm glad that I was able to find a brick & mortar store to see one and talk to a person about it. Is it better than a regular toilet seat, I suppose, it's nice in the winter.
Great coverage on this Toto Washlet! Does everything the interview spoke of, we purchased the exact model she covered and are very happy with the results
Hi Tara I'm way ahead of you I have known about this for years: no paper adjustable water from a hose / nuzzle, I move by hand where needed, and I never 'force' evacuation as the jet does all the work, drying by a separate towel. from Canada
I’ve considered installing the same since my travels in Japan several years ago...the most civilized society I’ve ever experience...right down to the most basic human task.
I just tried one of these in a nice Korean restaurant in Yucca Valley CA. I have to have this seat! I lived in Japan twice and I don't know why I haven't gotten one yet but will.
Freebie option works well too. Late at night go outside behind a bush and do your business, make sure to have the garden hose with a high pressure nozzle with you. A few quick blasts with the hose and viola!
Yikes ! Hi Tara I'm way ahead of you I have known about this for years: no paper adjustable water from a hose / nuzzle, I move by hand where needed, and I never 'force' evacuation as the jet does all the work, drying by a separate towel. from Canada
The Japanese Toto commode is top-of-the-line. Recently we bought a house with toto commodes in both bathrooms. We bought this washlet and are please with the Luxury and ease. We’ll never go back to toilet paper.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve been wondering about bidets, but didn’t know where to start. An install video would be amazing! Hope you all have a happy new year!
I wish I would have bought this brand/model. Instead I bought the Bio Bidet DSL last month. I wish I could return it because the seat feels too small (and I'm actually skinny). Great presentation BTW. I like the pacing of your video.
The carbon filter deodorizer actually works pretty well. We don't have to wait so long for the air to clear. The aerated water is also very nice and it gently and effectively cleans the specified area. It's amazing!
I have TOTO toilets, but after much research, I chose to buy three BioBidet Bliss BB-2000 Bidet Seats. Its controls are via remote control, which I leave mounted in its holder on the wall. I preferred this over having the controls on the seat to keep a sleeker profile on the toilet and so it would provide easier access for cleaning the outside of the toilet on a regular basis. It got great reviews and offers features like warm water (with adj. temps), variable-heated seat, warm air dryer, adjustable water pressure, vortex wash, adjustable stainless steel nozzle position, deodorizer and night light. And this model goes on sale for hundreds of dollars off fairly frequently. One common problem I read about with bidet toilet seats is that some will run out of warm water before you're done washing, causing an unpleasant experience when you suddenly start getting splashed with cold water. I've never had that happen in 2 years with the BioBidet seats. There are a number of good bidet toilet seats out there -- including TOTO! Do your research. Once you have used a bidet toilet seat for a little while, you start to realize that using just toilet paper is nothing but a big smear campaign!
Tara, thanks for sharing. I know the old bidets which some German households have/had. But this is quite a different thing and I like it very much. Not in my budget right now, but obviously something I would get in the future.
Thank you. Great video. 1:28 I agree that Toto is the gold standard, but they can be expensive. I settled on a seat made in Korea that was more than 50% cheaper and had more features, including a night light, remote control and stainless steel wand. My only regret is not getting one many years ago. When travelling (outside of Taiwan, South Korea and Japan), I try to find hotels that have a washlet. Amazingly, there is at least one website that has a list. 3:32 I think that for the larger person a remote control is more convenient than this style fixed to the side. 5:32 Would a non-electric bidet seat be more convenient to use than one of these sprays?
3:54 just to fix that. You don't "double click" you just have to click "once "to activate the mode. When in that mode, you only have to click "Once" to turn on the oscillating status, and click "Once more" to stop oscillating. So basically if you DOUBLE CLICK, it comes to stop.
Thank you for your video- I am interested in the TOTO SW3084#01 WASHLET C5 Electronic Bidet Toilet Seat . I already have a toto, ADA height toilet and we bought a TUSHY bidet. But Id love to have one of these and i would be very interested in an install video . Your descriptions were VERY helpful Thanks so Much
When TP first starting to run out in 2020 and out of stock, I purchased the hand spray bidet and am very happy with it. Living in the tropics, it would be extremely rare that the weather would be too cool to use it as it only runs off cold water. Thinking about the Washlet that uses electricity, it wouldn't be suitable if the grid goes down, a real possibility we may end up facing the way life is going. Hopefully the C100 can be used without power but I seriously doubt it.
What is the model # and where to order it from? I am currently using an American bidet (luxe bidet neo 320). But this Japanese basic one looks more effective with a much more and wider range of functions. If you installed it yourself, I would be much pleased to watch the installation video also. Thank you for sharing this amazing video. 👍
I'm dropping on this video because I bought a new toto c100 bidet thanks to you guys. I love my bidet but one bad part my toilet broke so I buy a new part for inside part of my toilet tank but after that it has been smooth sailing. I feel much cleaner and i love seat warmer and warm water and I got the seat at the right angle to clean my butt.
Here in the Philippines, we clean ourselves with water and soap and dry with toilet paper or a small towel. Americans using just toilet paper has always confounded me. Sprayers and bidets are a welcome upgrade.
@@TaraWhiteTalks Thank you for replying! I must say I am a big fan. You are one of the nicest and most sincere people I have come across on TH-cam. God bless you, dear.
At the start of the video I couldn't understand how you made the toilet paper math work, then I heard "$300" and nearly spat my coffee out! Sadly, in Australia, anything with the name Toto on it starts from four figures. And then you're looking at the same again to have a plumber legally install it with the proper backflow valve to eliminate the risk of 💩 getting into the drinking water supply.
We have a Toto bidet. We love it BUT, when we wipe after using the bidet, is our butt squeaky clean? NOPE. Does the bidet cut down on toilet paper use? Yes, but you still need to use toilet paper at the end of each use to make sure the bidet didn't miss anything. 9 times out of 10, it did. Just our review.
I think this is definitely worth considering as I like that it can eliminate the use of toilet paper, so much better for the environment! And I think it also keeps the 🍑 cleaner too! 😎
Costco and Sam's sometimes carries the Toto Washlet C-200 with remote for half the retail price $(179 versus $380-400). You have to check the home appliance section every now and then. They do carry them from time to time.
Interested in toilet for future. Have a question, has anyone who has one, had UTI's or anything similar when owning or using one for a few times. I am concerned with our family autoimmune conditions the water interaction in the toilet manner, may cause increased infections. Informative video about product.
Ours was around $300, I find the price varies a bit depending on sales. Shouldn’t ever be more than $350. Also, ours isn’t the most basic model. They do have more basic ones without dryers, etc.
No, there are different shapes bowls, round or oval so you need to match the right one. My husband explains that in his install video if you are curious =)
Our bidet at home are the same but except for one thing, our's are with a sensor that can define if your urine is healthy or not . It can also sense my grams sugar levels😊👍she's diabetic and forgetful about her meds, so my mom keeps tracking her sugar if it's okay or not( my mom can see my grams pooping and peeing data on her cellphone, it's all connected! But i think i don't want mine to be check 😱 it's just too weird and too icky😱😱😱
Our wand has water trickling out but not coming out the holes when pushing front and rear. Also, the dryer is not working. We do not have the remote control. Anyway to troubleshoot this? I am also noticing there is a STOP button but no power on and off. Is that right? Thanks in advance.
Including tax it cost $599.00 at Costco in Canada last week. I bought one and now looking forward to next week when a new electrical outlet is installed to accommodate the washlet.
Wow! Learn something new every day! I love that you open minded and adventurous💓💓💓Always look forward to your videos!!! Are you going to do a "updated" video on your organic clean makeup, please..!!????💯💯💯💯💯💘💘💘💘🍋🍊🍇🍍🍈🍎🥑
Thanks Kim! That would be a good video, the only reason I haven't yet is I'm still using all the products in the old video, only less of them lol. Just argan oil, concealer, blush, anti-shine powder, and mascara. Although I have updated my skincare and haircare so maybe I could do a video combining all three topics =)
I bought the Toto c100 as my first bidet after countless amounts of research with other different brands and I ended up settling with this one. I have 2.5 bathrooms in my house and bought 1 for all of them including new toilets the were high efficiency because I needed to solve my water problem and have had them for the last 3 months. When I say these bidets have changed my life and my families lives, I really mean they changed them!!! I will never go back to toilet paper as it cleans absolutely EVERYTHING and when you think your done it releases the leftovers after a wash having you wash a second time for a thorough clean and it doesn’t waste water because it only uses 0.1gpm of water!!!!!! Nor does it hog electricity especially when you put it in energy saver mode!!! And it’s super easy to clean and most importantly, NO MORE SLAMMING TOILET SEATS!!! This is definitely an awesome quality product that is worth the money to buy!
OK, I have a question. In less than one year of my purchasing my new Toto toilet and separate but attached Washlet model SW3056, the water flow started to weaken. Eventually, the wand didn't function at all; no water issued from it, not one drop. I live in a hard water area, but there was nothing in my instruction manual about hard water usage with a Washlet, let alone how to remedy clogging. I contacted Toto and since I was a month out of warranty I had to send them $175 to repair mine. I just got it back last week but am afraid to reinstall it, because it's clear that it will clog again. (While it was gone, I bought a regular Toto toilet set for the base, which cost over $100.) Sure enough, the problem according to Toto was the hard water and calcification. I still have no instructions for dealing with the calcification and do not want to be having to send in my Washlet each year to the tune of $175 per repair. I paid nearly $1000 for it and, with the Toto toilet itself, nearly $2000 total. I'm a retired teacher living on a pension, so this annual repair business isn't going to work for me. How do I keep the wand functioning with out build-up? It's like the elephant in the living room question no one is asking or providing an answer to. Is there a procedure I don't know about? A product I don't know about? Help! Thank you
Thanks for watching. Please leave any thoughts on Japanese washlets below! UPDATE: My husband ended up making an install video, so here is the link for anyone interested: th-cam.com/video/LJB7i1YNMrg/w-d-xo.html

Amazingly, there is at least one website that has a list. 3:32 I think that for the larger person a remote control is more convenient than this style fixed to the side. 5:32 Would a non-electric bidet seat be more convenient to use than one of these sprays?
Fantastic, what brand was that? (the Korean one)
3:54 just to fix that. You don't "double click" you just have to click "once "to activate the mode. When in that mode, you only have to click "Once" to turn on the oscillating status, and click "Once more" to stop oscillating. So basically if you DOUBLE CLICK, it comes to stop.
I have a standard Bidet, but I wanted to do some research on these Toto bidets. Great video, Tara. Thank you for a great review. Cheers to you
Thank you for your video- I am interested in the TOTO SW3084#01 WASHLET C5 Electronic Bidet Toilet Seat . I already have a toto, ADA height toilet and we bought a TUSHY bidet. But Id love to have one of these and i would be very interested in an install video . Your descriptions were VERY helpful Thanks so Much
Thank you so much.
This is sooo cool I'd love one :D how much was this one?
I'm dropping on this video because I bought a new toto c100 bidet thanks to you guys. I love my bidet but one bad part my toilet broke so I buy a new part for inside part of my toilet tank but after that it has been smooth sailing. I feel much cleaner and i love seat warmer and warm water and I got the seat at the right angle to clean my butt.
I tried this but it's not just for me. Using a conor handheld bidet helped me more . it's best bidet in australia. don't want to shade anyone.
Here in the Philippines, we clean ourselves with water and soap and dry with toilet paper or a small towel. Americans using just toilet paper has always confounded me. Sprayers and bidets are a welcome upgrade.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing =)
@@TaraWhiteTalks Thank you for replying! I must say I am a big fan. You are one of the nicest and most sincere people I have come across on TH-cam. God bless you, dear.
I love it! I’m a new user and it’s awesome!
Glad to hear it!
i find that product hillarious - maybe high tech but still insane price! bet m fine with the old styles one :p
what happens if you spill water on the buttons?
At the start of the video I couldn't understand how you made the toilet paper math work, then I heard "$300" and nearly spat my coffee out!
Sadly, in Australia, anything with the name Toto on it starts from four figures. And then you're looking at the same again to have a plumber legally install it with the proper backflow valve to eliminate the risk of 💩 getting into the drinking water supply.
INSTALL VIDEO PLEASE!!!
th-cam.com/video/LJB7i1YNMrg/w-d-xo.html
Thank you.☺
Tks so much !
Yes an install video!! Which is your husband channel?
He agreed to make one today actually, his channel is th-cam.com/users/amilliontoms
Thank you .
Here's the install vid: th-cam.com/video/LJB7i1YNMrg/w-d-xo.html
Great video. Thank you!
We have the butt wash in Thailand very popular but if you take the sprayer back to UK DIY the water is too cold has been tried
How did you install it
You should have done more toilet joke. South Park brought me here.
I think this is definitely worth considering as I like that it can eliminate the use of toilet paper, so much better for the environment! And I think it also keeps the 🍑 cleaner too! 😎
Totally agree! From a hygiene perspective, it is worth every penny =)
HOW DO u dry?
THIS IS LIVING!
Every time I visit Home Depot I wonder why they don't have a single Japanese washlet in their inventory.
Costco and Sam's sometimes carries the Toto Washlet C-200 with remote for half the retail price $(179 versus $380-400). You have to check the home appliance section every now and then. They do carry them from time to time.
What was the experience like when there was a breakdown or electrical issue?
Thankfully we haven't had any issues yet.
Hello, it's just a basic seat attachment. Use it as a regular toilet if the power goes out.
Interested in toilet for future. Have a question, has anyone who has one, had UTI's or anything similar when owning or using one for a few times. I am concerned with our family autoimmune conditions the water interaction in the toilet manner, may cause increased infections.
Informative video about product.
And how much does this basic model cost?
Ours was around $300, I find the price varies a bit depending on sales. Shouldn’t ever be more than $350. Also, ours isn’t the most basic model. They do have more basic ones without dryers, etc.
I've seen the Toto Washlet C-200 at Sam's and Costco here on the East Coast for more than half price ($180).
Is it compatible to all toilet bowls?
No, there are different shapes bowls, round or oval so you need to match the right one. My husband explains that in his install video if you are curious =)
Us Americans need to adapt to this.
Where do you get it?
I like your metaphor about cleaning the plate..the basic & best way to clean is washed it..that's also teached in Islam, how we used to clean our 💩 🤗
Our bidet at home are the same but except for one thing, our's are with a sensor that can define if your urine is healthy or not .
Wow 😮 that’s awesome 👏 which brand or make is that? Ty very much
You lying
Our wand has water trickling out but not coming out the holes when pushing front and rear. Also, the dryer is not working. We do not have the remote control. Anyway to troubleshoot this? I am also noticing there is a STOP button but no power on and off. Is that right? Thanks in advance.
so how do you do this in Canada I put in a bidet feature but it is ice cold water, saved on tp, but not nice.
Amazing that you got it for $300. It is now selling for twice that.
Not worth it.
This is definitely an awesome quality product that is worth the money to buy!
and the water tickles
Good vid!....thanks....david
I’m sold lol
I want this😃
Damn, I got a cheap one that just sprays cold water, I gotta move my butt around to get it on target, and still need to use toilet paper to dry it.
Help! Thank you
Soak clogged parts in regular vinegar or CLR.
Bum gun for the win!!!1!!
🙌🙌
Thanks for watching. Please leave any thoughts on Japanese washlets below!
UPDATE: My husband ended up making an install video, so here is the link for anyone interested: th-cam.com/video/LJB7i1YNMrg/w-d-xo.html
mine died after 2 years sw2014 toto washletn/ no spraying
What happens when the power goes out and paper wasn't stocked due to lack of use?
Kan-shiketsu.
Try it out.
When the lights go out, you will be glad you did.
Genial 👍👏
