    I get a lot of questions about Washlet+ toilets. At Many Bidets we sell over a hundred different skews when it comes to Washlet toilets, so it can be overwhelming. Today, we're going to simplify things for you. We're going to talk about One-piece, versus Two-piece, skirted, versus non-skirted. Also, about multiple different flush variations, from side flush, to top flush. Stay tuned to learn about all of this. My name is Daniel Johnson, I'm your bidet expert, and I'm the owner of ManyBidets.com, where over the past eight years we've sold over 10,000 Bidets.
    Before we talk about how to pick a Washlet+ toilet bidet combination, it's important to know what a Washlet+ is. Here, we have two Toto toilets. Along with two Toto Bidet seats. In fact, these Bidet seats are both S550e’s; same feature set, same internals, but one's Washlet+, and one's not. On this combination, we can see the cord and the hose. On this combination we can't. Why do we see it on one and not the other? Because this unit is a Washlet+ unit. If we take this seat off, we can see that there's a hole built into the porcelain. This hole allows us to route the cord and the hose through the hole, in order to keep them concealed. The position of the cord in the hose on this seat is also designed in such a way, to make the process of sliding it through the hole seamless. The one other thing to note here is that, with a Washlet+ unit you can also add in an extra adapter that gives you auto flush capability. A unit like this is sleeker and has the ability to offer auto flushing, where it flushes when you stand up; versus a unit like this, you see the cord in the hose and you don't have that capability.
    From an aesthetic standpoint, one of the main differences between the Washlet+ lineup is skirted, versus non-skirted.
    Here, we see a non-skirted toilet. We see that the trap and the entire waistline, if you will, is visible, because of the way the toilet's designed. The other thing that you'll notice is that while it has a hole to hide the cord and the hose, it's not quite as hidden, because that hole is still visible from the bottom. It's not going to be quite as sleek as a skirted toilet.
    Here, we have a partially skirted toilet, so the side of the toilet does not expose the drain, and does not expose the pipe where the waste goes through. It's smooth. Along with that, we have a little porcelain plate that goes over the bolt holes, where the toilet attaches to the floor. This little plate covers up that hole and makes it so that the toilet is now fully skirted, and it just gives it a sleeker, cleaner look.
    Here, we have a fully skirted toilet. We can see the entire side of this toilet is completely porcelain smooth, no visible drain pipe, or anything along those lines. To connect this toilet to the floor, it uses a slightly different mechanism than the last two, which we'll talk about more in a moment. Now, there's more to skirted, versus non-skirted, than simply the aesthetics aspect. With a non-skirted toilet, these bolt holes go over where the flange is placed in the floor. Two bolts come up from the flange, go through these bolt holes on either side and a nuts put on top, that works just fine. The limitation comes from the fact that if we don't have 12 inches from the center of that flange, to the back...

    A good reason for a two piece skirted toilet is that in the Aquia line, you can order the shorter standard height, which can be of help if you are on the shorter side.

    I recently installed a non washlet + s550e on a new non washlet + Drake and wanted to let you know the autoflush kit still worked! Just wanted to pass along. It looks like maybe on the new drakes the internals are all the same. Good info for those that accidentally purchased a non washlet + like we did 9:20

    Hello Daniel. Great informative video. Am I wrong in saying that one downside of having a skirted toilet is that it makes difficult to spot early signs of a water leak that might be coming from the connections. After all, the hoses are hidden.

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends on who you ask. We’ve seen multiple respected professionals in the field offer different views on this. In my opinion, in the short term, it’s going to be easier to spot without a skirted design, but if there is a leak, even with a skirt, you'll know pretty quick. I have absolutely had some customers choose non-skirted for that exact reason though.

    @Many Bidets thanks for your simple descriptions.
    Question: I have a tile floor in the bathroom. Tile is 20 years old. Will ceramic tile break if drilled through?
    Thanks in advance, I now understand the difference in Washlet and Washlet +!

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You sure can! Just use a drill bit designed to drill into tile! We have also found that if you put a little painter's tape down before drilling, the bit won't move around, making for a much cleaner, easier drilling task. Let us know if you decide to purchase or have any other questions!!

    Love your videos! My legato only auto flushes if we use the cleaning wand. What is wrong with the install?

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it auto flushes with the wand cleaning, that would seem to mean it's properly installed from a functionality standpoint. Have you checked the flush settings on the back of the remote? If you have, and you're still having issues, we can reach out to TOTO on your behalf for further troubleshooting. Just email us the order number you have with us, and a description of the problem, and we'll run with it from there.

    What is the "rough-in" measurement required to be (or range it can be) for the Fully Skirted" toilet?

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the unit, but our most popular skirted Washlet+ units are:
      Nexus: 14 inch or 12 inch rough in
      Aquia IV: 14 inch, 12 inch, or 10 inch rough in
      Let me know what other questions you have!

    Thanks for a great video. Is Toto Drake MS786124CEFG a Washlet+ toilet? From the Toto website it looks like its is but it only shows WASHLET®+ S550e as compatible washlet. Will C2 or C5 not fit this toilet?

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the question! Any washlet+ toilet that the S550e fits on the C2 and C5 will fit on as well. Basically the breakdown is: Newer model washlet+ toilets work with the S550e, S500e, C5, and C2, older model Washlet+ toilets work with the S350e, S300e, C200, and C100 Thanks for asking! Let me know if you have other questions or concerns!

    My water supply comes up from the floor about 3 inches from wall and won't fit the skirted toilet. The toilet won't go back far enough towards the wall. water supply is in the way. Will any of the toto toilets work with a floor mounted water supply?

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for asking! Washlet+ units will work with floor water supplies, but because most washlet+ units are either skirted, or partly skirted, the water supply sometimes needs to be further out than another toilet might require. Your best bet would be a non-skirted washlet+ unit like this one: www.manybidets.com/product/toto-drake-transitional-washlet-s550e-two-piece-toilet-and-bidet-system-1-28-gpf-ada-compliant/ But in order to know if it would work, I'd need to know where your water supply is located exactly, both measurement off the wall (which you said is 3 inches) and ALSO the distance it is off center. With both of those measurements, I'd be able to offer some suggestions. Please feel free to reply to this comment with the extra measurement. thanks so much!

    I have a TOTO S500E that doesn't appear to be piped for WASHLET +. Is it possible to convert it to work with a new WASHLET + toilet?

      There may be a DIY way to do this but we have not tried it and TOTO advises against it so we do not recommend it.

    can you please mention the link or specific name of washlet plus bidet and autoflush adaptor that goes with one-piece toto washlet plus, fully skirted CST646F elongated toilet? This toilet came with TOTO Transitional SoftClose SS114#01 Elongated Soft Close SEAT, 18 by 14" which fits good. However, the reason I got this toilet was for bidet washlet plus. Will the Alpha JX fit on a bidet toilet? So the hose is concealed?

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the question! No it will not. The only bidet seats this setup works with if you want the cord and hose hidden are TOTO bidet seats (or washlets) that are designed to work with this setup. TOTO products are also much higher quality than the Alpha JX, and I highly recommend them:-) We're happy to hook you up with any of the washlet+ units on the market should you be interested.

    Are the skirted toilets more prone to plugging? Is there a 3” trap and adaptor skirted toilet available. Am I wrong in assuming everything in this video is 2.5”?

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  ปีที่แล้ว

      Skirted vs non-skirted really doesn't effect the flushing power. It's an aesthetics thing... That being said, all toilets are different. The Nexus it TOTO's strongest flushing skirted toilet in my opinion.
