- After going unbeaten in their first nine games of the season, Liverpool began to stutter as they entered the autumn. Since their unbeaten run ended away to Manchester United in mid-September, they had won just two league matches.
The Reds sought to get back on track hosting Ron Greenwood's West Ham United at Anfield, who had seen a lot of changes since we last saw them.

There is some great detail in these videos. Amazing. What a nice, generous tribute to Peplow.
I have only just discovered this series today. It's an amazing labour of love and really takes me back. Thank you.
My first match was Manchester City vs Liverpool in 1968 at Maine Road. I think City were champions, it was maybe October that year, and we won 0-2, Bobby Graham with both. That's as far as I remember. I was with my Dad, my uncle and I don't think my big brother was there. I would have been 7. I might well be wrong on some of that, but I remember the occasion.
It was a midweek game. Beating the champions away that easily, I must have thought they were all going to be that easy.
@@mikewilliams9651 Based on what you've said I think it's actually from the beginning of this season, August 1969.

would you consider doing a video on Liverpool's 2008-09 team?
We'll be getting there eventually but it will probably be a long time yet. I did write a post on that side a few years ago though if you don't mind reading: www.holdingmidfield.com/rafa-benitezs-liverpool/
Lawler scored a lot for a full back, didn't he.
He really did. Kept so quiet the opposition never noticed him ghosting into attack.
Scored over 60 goals for Liverpool and none of those were penalties. Chris was the silent assassin.
