They're God level musicians. And super young. Last I saw the guitar player was only 16. The others about 2 years older. All I've heard them do Is instrumental songs. All very good. Take care brother. 😊😎🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘❤️‍🔥

Bootsie Collins worked with them to put out their first album, Ignition, while they were all still teens (Haruka was only 14 or 15 then). Buckethead also featured on it twice! Anyway, the point is that she’d gotten her first guitar only 4 years prior at age 10. Miyu, bassist, is only 8 months older and his brother on drums, Mio, is oldest as a ‘99er. 3 prodigies, 1 group.🤯💪🏻🤘🏻

The bassist miyu usually uses 7 strings bass, yes a 7 strings, he only uses 4 strings and 5 strings bass in a few songs, he's only 20 years old, but he is one of the most skilled bassist I've ever seen. The guitarist hal-ca is 19 years old, she is already my favorite guitarist, I recommend 《dawn》 live or 《then&now》live in studio as the next reaction🤘🏻

The members of Asterism are Hal-Ca on guitar, Miyu on bass and Mio on drums. Miyu and Mio are brothers. They are strictly an instrumental group. They met at a music competition in 2014. Hal-Ca was 11 and entered as a solo guitarist. She had been playing less than two years, Miyu was 12 and Mio was 14. They had entered as a duo. An official with the competition thought it would be good to introduce the young guitarist and the brothers. They immediately hit it off and very soon Asterism was born.
They have an 8+ minute masterpiece called Dawn. It is one of the best instrumentals I have heard in the last 25 years. Miyu plays a 4 string bass all the way up to a 7 string bass. On Dawn, he is playing a 7 string. Hal-Ca puts on one of the best live performances by a guitar player I have ever seen. She might not be EVH level yet (who I first saw live in 1977) but she is very close. I am a huge fan of the 5 amazing guitarists of Band-Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila. In my opinion, she is already better than all of them. You have to see this performance.

Well, you are very nearly 100% correct 😉 Everything but the Instrumental Only part. They have 2 of their own songs in which HAL-CA and Miyu sing ('Metal' and 'Risky'), but so far they have only been played live. They have also performed covers with guest vocalists. I would add that HAL-CA was 18, Miyu 19 and Mio 21 when the video was shot.
I totally agree that the Dawn performance you linked is a must watch. That is definately my favourite version of that awsome track. I would note that HAL-CA was 16, Miyu 17 and Mio 19 for that performance.
I would also add any of the performances from 'Welcome to INFERNO Vol. MAX' or 'Live in Studio' (same sessions as 'Gunfire') from their channel th-cam.com/users/ASTERISM2016videos Notably 'Church', 'Blaze', 'Light in the Darkness', and '155'.
Their cover of SRV's 'Scuttle Buttin' is also a must see th-cam.com/video/BtB_VrYLRaM/w-d-xo.html
Their performance at the same music competition where they first met, one year on (performing 'Rising Moon') when HAL-CA was 12, Miyu 13 and Mio 14 th-cam.com/video/BMMZB4U_mEk/w-d-xo.html

@@simno345 I would love to hear their vocals sometime. All of the performances I have seen from them have been amazing. Blaze was the first video I saw and I had to pick up my jaw from the floor. I also love their cover of Scuttle Buttin'. I have lived all my life in Texas and was a teenager in the 70s. I was listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan even before Double Trouble started. He was pretty much a god in Texas. I have watched the video of them performing Rising Moon a year after they met. Makes me wonder what they sounded like the year before. It is unbelievable that they wrote something as good as Rising Moon at such young ages.

@@danw6048 Takako, the person who posted the 'Dawn' vid has them on his channel. Unfortunately the quality isn't as good as the 'Dawn' vid. HAL-CA's voice is really nice, Miyu's not so much 😄.
I think they were persuaded to add vocals to be more appealing to the mainstream, but their recent success with the Anime covers may push them back to their original thinking, that without vocals they eliminate the language barrier. That's just my opinion though, don't take it as gospel (well, HAL-CA did mention the language barrier in an early interview).
      'Risky' th-cam.com/video/wp_6IHvvSWs/w-d-xo.html

@@simno345 I watched both of those videos a couple of times. You are right, the audio quality is not good. Hal-Ca has a good voice but she does struggle when she has to sing above the instruments. It looks like both of these videos were when she turned 19 or shortly after. To be successful singing over Asterism music, she would need Saiki type power who was 19 when she joined Band-Maid. To get that kind of power, Hal-Ca would need a year or two of vocal lessons just to find out if she is capable. I personally think she needs to concentrate on being one of the best guitarists of her generation. As for Miyu, it was really hard to hear him most of the time. Was he trying to do some harsh vocals? If so, he has a worse power problem than Hal-Ca. Bottom line, when they are stuck behind a mic singing, they sound like an average young rock band, but when they leave the mics, they sound like one of the best instrumental bands in the world.

Asterism is basically an instrumental band. Although there are a couple of videos of Haruka singing, those songs have yet to appear on any official recordings. What you want to listen to next is probably "Dawn", which is a truly outstanding piece of music. Pretty much as good as it gets. You will find a "live in studio" version on their TH-cam page (similar to the one you just watched), but I would strongly recommend that you have a look at them playing on stage, in front of an audience. The sound quality might be less than perfect, but the energy and emotion more than makes up for it. Even though I own their albums, this performance here is what I have ripped and added to my playlists:
    th-cam.com/video/buQPvINJcA0/w-d-xo.html
"Dawn" is from their first full album (Ignition, 2016), but if you want more of their later (and somewhat more progressive) material, try "Church" after that. Same album as "Gunfire" (Guernica+a, 2021). Or if you want to go back to the beginning, I guess "Rising Moon" would be the one to listen to. There is a music video for it, recorded around Haruka's 15th birthday, but the song is actually a couple of years older than that. Here you have them rocking their asses off at the finale of Yamaha's 9th Music Festival competition in 2015. Haruka (guitar) was 12 years old, Miyu (bass) was 13, and his older brother Mio (drums) 15:

Almost all of their music is instrumental.
From what I have heard they have had a couple of tracks they did live that had vocals, but none of the recorded music is as far as I know. They might have some songs with vocals on their next album if they indeed did some tracks live with vocals. They might be trying it out live to see how it works out.
I personally love instrumentals (and instrumental bands), so I rather have them not turn into a full on band with vocals, but I'm all for a track with vocals every once in a while.
She does have a good voice from what I have read.
All 3 of them are playing together for quite a while (2014) even though they are still young.
Hal-Ca (guitar), born in November 2002
Miyu (bass), born in March 2002
Mio (drums), born in November 1999
    Miyu and Mio are brothers.
Asterism is certainly one of my favorite Japanese bands that I have discovered. It is incredible how talented they are even if you don't factor in their ages.
They recently moved to Tokyo because the music scene is bigger over there, so they are certainly taking it seriously.

Yes, Asterism, best instruMETAL band around. I now know of 4 songs recently where guitarist Hal-Ca sings, 2 of them are "Risky" and "Metal", but in it's core, they're an instrumental band. No official videos of the songs with vocals so far.
Hal-Ca (Haruka Noma) is 19 now, bassist Miyu 20 and his brother Mio on the drums 22 years old, but they started when Hal-Ca was just 11 or 12.
Your next songs should be "Dawn", a must see, "Light in the darkness" or "Church" from the same live studio recording you just saw.

Agreed, they are phenomenal. As explained in a lot of comments, they are mainly a 3-pieces instrumental band, and this is very unusual in this music genre.
But if you want to hear Haruka singing, just check out this one (th-cam.com/video/c3rsGBIQfPk/w-d-xo.html) and listen to her until the very end, because the last phrase reveals pretty much the potential of her voice.
And if you want to listen to another track of Asterism with an outstanding singer (PelleK from Norway), try this one: th-cam.com/video/NbsocuHnZZM/w-d-xo.html 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
    Enjoy!

Asterism is a UFO in the rock world. I would call them Prog-metal rock band...
Hal-CA (aka Haruka) (g), 16 YO at the time of this recording, plays in principle on Yamaha Pacifica or Yamaha SG1810 and more recently on ESP IIX...
    Miyu (b - 17 YO) plays on ESP 4 / 5 / 7 strings bass...
And his brother Myo (d - 19 YO)...
It is absolutely necessary to listen to "Dawn" or 'Church", but also many other songs such as the extraordinary cover "Scuttle Buttin" by Steve Ray Vaughan (monstrous tribute version to this immense bluesman...)

Sir, sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong spot, but I just got finished watching your Electric Callboy reactions. You asked if they have any "serious" type stuff. Oh boy, yeah they do
I've followed them since they formed. Everything before a few years ago Sushi was lead singer. Then they brought in Nico. Then they got huge
I highly highly suggest going to Electric Callboy's youtube channel and find them performing the live concert performance of "Prism" the acoustic version. It literally saved me. I had a syr inge filled with bleach and was minutes away from making a bad decision. Then that video happened to be next up and I stopped and Nico's performance saved me. You gotta check it out
