- This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences.
As an exchange student at a high school in the United States, Nahomi Aso had an experience that left a lasting impact on her life. As our world becomes globalized, there’s an increasing demand for strong communication skills. But is it just communication skills that we need in order to thrive in an international environment? Nahomi shares her insights into what’s truly important for us, and the cultural identity we should embrace.
Underrated Ted talk…
People usually don’t value their own culture, thinking that it’s so basic there’s nothing interesting there.
But when you look at other cultures, you start to see just how beautiful the culture of where you came from is. Even to something so simple as using chopsticks to eat instead of spoon and fork.
Absolutely agreed!
Thank you for your requests for the English subtitles.
We are currently working on the English subtitles; however, they will take some time to publish as they require approval from TED as well. In the meantime, we will create a summary of the talk in English to be shared with you shortly. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your kind patience.

It's very inspiring.
Should have subtitles in English for the wisdom to be understood by more!
