Does it help to self-report an accident the same day voluntarily vs being found-out involuntarily if you may have been seen by a camera/witnesses, and to maybe ask officials if they could help you exchange information with the other driver(should they be aware of who that is)?
Keenly, anything you say if you get a form letter or a detective calls you - may be incriminating. Get a lawyer first before saying anything to the police when investigated. If the police do come and they threaten to place obstruction charges on you in an investigation, best to say "I cannot say anything without my lawyer" - aka take the 5th. And of course, never lie to the police. They will arrest you on the spot. So when you are criminally investigated, if you are about to be arrested or prosecuted even with a lawyer you have, the best bet is better to be arrested later - than earlier, and let the lawyer of yours do the talking. Who knows - the lawyer might even get your hit-and-run charges (if any) dropped.
Had a TX semi truck driver hit my son when he was driving my Truck. Pulled over did not provide my son his insurance information even after my son gave him his. Then the guy has the nerve to shake my son down for 100$ via a cash app. My son is young and did not know what to do. No police were called and from what I heard about the truck driver, he prob would not have stuck around. So what do you do when you have the persons name, (he used the cash app to get the money from my son) and the trailer license plate. My insurance company is waiting for the semi driver to file a claim but I do not think that is going to happen. And of course the plate comes back to a company that is not responding to my insurance company. And the name of course that comes back is not the name of the driver or at least the name he used for the cash app.
If a commercial truck driver stopped , let you see him and even pressed your kid for money ANDDD your kid paid?!! That means both that driver and your kid knew it was your kids fault. Take it as a blessing his driving record wasn't stained with this and he didn't end up having to pay that much more every MONTH on his premium for an at fault accident. Truck driver did your kid a favor to help himself as well. Even if an accident is no fault for a commercial driver it could tarnish their careers and make their insurance go sky high. Some trucking jobs require no accidents to apply at all. Rendering even the not at fault truckers virtually unemployable. Take the blessing, leave the guy alone, get your kid driving lessons and stop coddling him. No one sane and over the age of 5 is going to be willing to pay off a truck driver who hit Them!
I have been watching your videos and very helpful. I ended up hitting rear of another call while changing lane on a freeway and I couldn't really stop because there was lot of cars and I couldn't move out of the lane. Though the damage looked very minor for my car and their car am sure has very little damage as its minor hit, what can I do now? I am fully insured so even if the other part want to claim for property damage they can as they clicked my license plate. I dont have their details unfortunately. I am confused what to tell my insurance company if they call me, I would really appreciate if you can please guide. Will this be a serious problem from other party side? This is only minor property damage
Him looking to help protect these low life cowards tells me his character as well.
