Thank you Jocko for this great conversation, I’m from Egypt, my country is/was/will be a part of this conflict till God knows when! You and Darryl are one of the very few people who are having a non-baised and mature conversation, putting yourself in the shoes of someone who grew up as a part of the conflict! Humanity needs more convos like this, hats off to you both!

Jocko is the world champion to see the dirt on the other side, can't see none of it on his side, even if he is choking up in it.
Just watch his body languange between 4:30 and 4:35, forcing his mouth to say something he does not believe at all lol.
Listen at 10:00 how they are not able to understand how Israel is losing the infomation war. Let's help them: because Israel is commiting war crimes, Palestinians have to just pull out their phones and start to film unbereable footages of dead kids?
14:40 please, " a succeess colonisation project" this dude is for real
Between 14:40 and 15:30, it's just unreal, how any decent human being can agree to this shit?
This interview is a joke actually, 43:20: Israel's goal is to work in peace and stability by chasing every Palestinians from their land?
Why these Israelis did not go somewhere in Russia, or Argentina, or USA? why these peace makers had to come right in the middle of muslims countries to establish peace by moving millions of people around? Because their holy book said so?
I go into someone's house, and throw him and his family outside, then I propose my help to him to find a house somewhere else, but the other one is not so happy about the trade, now i'm the peacemaker and pacifist? while the other one is a terrorist?
Get real Jocko. With all the books you read you know what you see, but I know that you have to pick a team in the end of the day, you are not free to speak your mind.

the bias is hidden well. but I think this podcast was all about white washing Israeli war crimes. like bombing hospitals and convoys of ambulances and UN schools. all that and they haven't confirmed a single enemy kill in Gaza. Israel is losing the information war because they lie and distort everything 80% of the time. keep up your propaganda. but these new kids on the internet are back checking everything they see and hear. they seek the truth... so they find it.

Composure, Patience, taking the high road. Traits many may strive to achieve as Jocko has through challenging life experiences. Hearing him speak of losing men (not only men but close and dear friends) yet despite that, as a leader, he still must interact with the local populous with peace and friendliness not knowing if some may very well be responsible for killing American soldiers. I've never been through anything remotely as challenging as Jocko, let alone served, which is why I enjoy his podcast as it puts my own obstacles into perspective

It kind of boils down to a couple of point
      The Blood Meridian analogy
And the notion when committing atrocity as policy you’ve lost your grievance argument with civilized folks
Ergun and the Stern gang are old news
Even Sharon’s excesses are and he’s dead
The other analogy about Hamas or any old angry Palestinian just wants to burn down grandmas former house inside Israel now to spite may explain the nihilism
It is without question the worlds most intransigent conflict
No answers from me and I used to work in ramat gan
I support Israel cause they are more civilized than their neighbors in general not because I’m a Christian
I have friends to this day in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv
Something new will have to appear and change to remedy this
      Something we can’t see yet
But y’all better start screwing more I can promise you that.
No shortage good looking women there I can attest to that

Agreed. This is a good discussion.
Abrahamic religious supremacism is the root of all this. And I’m tired of it. Their childish, murderous supremacist views towards each other and other human beings makes being on The Earth harder and more tragic and far less peaceful than it should and could be. Before anyone tries to call me a godless Marxist that is in the crew that’s responsible themselves for massacring over a hundred million, I’m not. I know there’s an Engineer that’s designed this place, whatever and wherever it is. And there’s a reverence in me for it…. for my existence. The difference with me is I don’t think I’m “chosen people,” the “best of people,” or “saved” and anyone that doesn’t believe as I do is damned.
Anyone interested in talking about this some please reply.
I’m interested in seeing the Earth a better place to live for everyone, but in order to do that the human race has to jettison supremacist religious ideas about themselves.

He was balanced in a lot of ways, but he centered Palestinian resistance as the violent initiator and the pretense of the nakba without acknowledging the current occupation and violence in the West Bank, the seige in Gaza, the settlement expansions, home demolitions. In other words the aggression has never ended and Palestinians are slowly being removed from the land. They also fail to understand that Arabs aren’t a monolith, Egyptians aren’t just a nationality ie. We are Arabized people with our own unique cultures, dialects, and pre Arabization histories. Friend, nobody is ok with allowing atrocities, but Israel is the only true democracy in MENA and is a very valuable defense ally to the West. Respectfully, if the Palestinian cause is to eradicate Israel “from river (Jordan) to sea” then it is doomed.
As long as ~3 billion Christians (cultural & religious) control the balance of power & wealth in the world, Israel will remain custodian of the holy land. In exchange for aid, trade & protection, Israel is tasked to maintain democracy, keep the sacred sites safe & open for all tourists, & serve as defense ally providing intelligence & nucl deterrence to sectarian conflict in MENA.

Informative and interesting takes on this complex and despairing situation. Thanks for sharing this Jocko and Darryl. Yet, the one timestamp at 1:21:00 that made me put into question some of our stances was when they mentioned the U.S. carrier ships and how if an enemy were to attack them we would retaliate by destroying them and everyone they know. How is this different than Israel's response to defend itself by killing all in their way, or Hamas doing the same to those opposing them (Israel)? The impression I got from this statement on the podcast made me realize that when the bad thing happens to us, in some ways our response is no better. Anyone else have comments on this part? Apart from that, I enjoyed this conversation very much.

Earlier in the video, Jocko tried to wrestle with the idea that Hamas was winning the propaganda war in spite of the atrocity of the attacks. As a testament to Jocko’s lack of ideological bent, he didn’t mention the fact that a great part of progressive ideology is based on historical grievance, no matter how old. It is a major tenant to discredit the present by bringing up the past. Later he / the two of them touched on it when they mentioned teaching history in the vein of forgiveness versus the continuation of old grievance. Never mind; he got around to it at the end in a treatise, delightfully free of ideology.

The comparison between the Russians in Ukraine and Israel in Judea and Semeria is really not the same. There's an important fact you're missing. Israel is much smaller and has no strategic depth in case of a hostilr invasion, especually from the east. The eastern part is also elevated and from there it's only an hour and a half drive to the coast. So with all respect to the UN partition plan, Israel can't allow a hostile, unstable and dictatorial regime to exist alongside it. It's just too much of a risk.

And halfway through it and zero mention of the hamas charter. The charter is the fundamental launching point of history for hamas. Comparisons to Russia and the US Civil War are invalid.
Indigenous rights to the area go to the Jewish civilization. But lets say that historical right is no longer of a practical concern.
Jews are in Israel because Europe, the US and the Arab state all drove them out of their countries via violence or immigration and job policies. The world agreed in the 40's to resolve this issue by locating Jews in this area. That is the current overriding world wide agreement.

We think they're Muslims because they speak Arabic, and therefore say things like: "InshaAllah (God Willing), Alhemduelilleh (Credit goes to God), MashaAllah (Praise God)," etc etc etc.
Also, how is it that those folks who are implementing punishment for formication & murder, are carte blanche committing such atrocities as rape & murder of innocent women & children?
The latter is/are *literally* zero locations in The Sacred Constitutional Law.
Further, I don't understand why removing one's moral highground (by out of balance slaughter, in the exact fashion being claimed they are the victims of), is the go-to solution to being violently attacked.

Which means, once the invasion winded down, The King found it best to come to some sort of an agreement. Which means, the PEOPLE-whom, would have housed, fed, and spoiled them with fantastic Traditional Moroccan Tea)-would have (defacto) been in support of being inline with the Allied Forces; which, they would have anyhow/way-sans the need for any invasion persuaded arrangements.
*FUN FACT:* Morocco, *yes,* Morocco, was/is the first Country to Acknowledge The USA as an official identity.
      b. You're asking, because, you didn't do your due diligence [thorough enough to vet your own ideas, before proposing such a tactically well thought out position (albeit-based on the inquiries grammarly & namesake structure-rife with biases, I hypothesize)].
      c. Your question is a deflection.
And, my respected interlocutor (whom, demonstrates a grammatically tactical *zest!)* has (ipso~facto) either intentionally, or unintentionally, missed the point (entirely).

I have had to return to this video. In my unprofessional opinion I think that the decision of Israel to respond with air strikes was not arrived at without a large amount of intel on how extensive the tunnel systems were, and how said tunnels were interconnected with a lot of above civilian infrastructure (the more we hear of said system in the news). To add, I am going to assume that Israel does not have several SEAL team level resources available to them to clear out 300 miles of tunnels effectively without taking a large amount of casualties to do it.
Given how much more fortified the Israeli military is in comparison to hamas however, at first glance it really does seem like hamas really had no strategy other than self destruction and taking out as many others with them as possible. But then I thought about the tunnel system of the Viet Cong and how effective that was in bogging down their adversaries during Vietnam. From reading, it seemed the most effective way of clearing the VC tunnel system was by doing it the hard way of sending soldiers down in them. I wonder if hamas was confident in a similar reaction from Israel given the reality we live in now of every move made by a sovereign country is now easily in view of the entire world. I believe hamas did not expect fully the response that came. Further, any “over arching idea of benevolence” may win the information war undoubtedly, but will result in much higher casualties on Israeli side. My opinions are not qualified, just ruminating in the comments with everyone else.
To add, I did not want to believe the things that happened on October 7 so I stopped reading accounts from Israeli based press on a few stories that caught my attention, I started going through press releases from surrounding countries and their news agencies.
I’m not a battle hardened man and I must say that I thought here in 2023 we collectively, as denizens of this planet were moving past such barbaric acts of brutality on the general population. Several times for the few days after reading these stories, I have found myself forgetting what I was doing at work or home just trying to wrap my brain around shit.
    hamas must be completely
e/v/iscer/ rated from all of Palestinian life down to the last limp chico de paja and last bit of doctrine / manifesto burned. For the children who die on BOTH sides, shame to all who start their diatribe with “yeah, but..” 🖕

It was by Jews in countries that they were a minority and generally treated badly. The fact that it is a Jewish state is why the Arab world finds 1948 so “humiliating” and that Palestinian refugees aren’t expected to move on or settle in a different country.
