The grom is a five speed yammie puuuuuuuuuubbeeeee!
I'm in Dallas I want the R1 ha 😂 but can it be a gsxr?
Oh you're in Garland not bad like 10 minutes away
The thought process when riding a 125cc is: “I can’t go over 60mph but I can go 60mph at all times”
My cbr125 goes 75mph/120-130kmh on a gps
Then the motorcycle will constantly be crying in pain
It's a Honda 125 4 stroke. You can sit it on redline all day and it will eat it up.
@@waalldderi1103 i put a 2 stroke ns125f enguine in my cbr so worth the work (top speed 103 on gps)
My little grom goes 71mph
I've had a grom for years and it's my daily transport ,50 mile round trip for work 5 days a week and I love it . I sold my larger motorcycles because after riding a grom they are frankly boring. I do live in a very rural part of the UK so speed isn't necessarily a issue. As a daily they are Brilliant they cost next to nothing to run and maintain , everyone should at least try one .
Using miles instead of km for us Americans, how nice of you!
@@camdencz We use miles in the UK
Respect to this guy if it's really his daily. My 390 duke can feel cramped sometimes for my 6' frame, and my work commute is only 35m round trip.
The grom is too limited a bike for daily practical transportation in the US. It's really just a bop-around urban toy, the top speed would be a real issue for my location on Long Island. The baby KTM cruises comfortably at 70 mph at only 6k rpm. I guarantee I'd melt the grom engine in a month.
The OEM clutch is like 15 bucks hahah
Charlo Padillz damn you’re right! Just looked it up, looks like you guys use feet, inches and miles, but also Celsius for temp, liters for volume, and kilos sometimes for food (and personal weight in stone!), assuming the guy on Quora is right
Riding a grom around the town is just like riding a bicycle around your neighborhood during childhood

I'm Brazilian and I can't avoid smiling a little seeing you guys like that "Grom" so much. 125cc and 160cc bikes are the standard around here and some people who have them only think about getting rid of them and buying a bigger motorcycle. It's comprehensible, since it's all most of those guys can afford and they want to ascend, but I really wish people understood better the simple and pure pleasure of riding, no matter the bike. Thanks for giving me a taste of that!
Yea small motorbikes are definitely fun. Around where I live anyways you can't got much faster than 40 mph on the twisty town roads.
Falou tudo
Same here in India
As a short female with no riding experience (not even a dirt bike lol) a grom just looks like a trusty little bike that isnt super intimidating
@M Bacon keep in mind, if this person is from the states it's not something available here, straight to the cb300f.
In my driving school, it was the bike where o started to learn how to work with gears. Being a small female and having zero experience, it was a very nice first bike before moving to a 250cc, 500cc and then a 650cc
@M Bacon Agreed, also if interested in more of a cruiser format the Kawasaki EL125 is also a great bike IMHO for around town riding. Overall remarkably similar specs to the CB125F, but 26" seat height as opposed to 30" and a bit less modern engine (carburetor instead of injected). The Eliminator isn't in current production though, so it'd have to be purchased used, but is dirt cheap usually (about $1k to $1.5k around here).
We found the only female who watches yammie noob
M Bacon getting a normal sized bike with such a small engine is a huge waste of money. You’ll get bored of it after a month top. I’d never recommend to get anything below 300 for sport bikes. 600-750 for cruisers. The advice of starting small is bullshit, waste of money. I started on a 750, no problems.
I bought a Grom to get back in to riding after avoiding it for nearly a decade after a car accident that left me with a frozen and weight sensitive ankle. It was the best bike to hop back on and build confidence in riding again. I've since sold it and moved up to a larger bike, but I'll always love that little machine.
We’re gonna paint some happy trees back here 😁

I would never sell it
@@yannikoloff7659FACTS.
The Grom reminds me of the tiny toy (but still motorized) motorcycle that I would ride around the cul-de-sac as a kid. The experience of freedom of travel, especially on 2 wheels, was so novel and fun. It wasn’t about how fast you were going or how quick you could get there... it was about riding a little bike around and exploring. This bike would be worth the buy for me just to remind me of those times! It’s like the adult version of a kids bike, if that makes sense lol (in a good way).
There was a random kid that came up to me earlier in the week while I was doing yard work. He was riding a Razor scooter and told me about how the red scooters can go in the dirt but blue ones can’t and how he taped a piece of paper with a smiley face to the front of his scooter so that it could act like a sail and make him faster. I bet he’d love to have that little bike that I had when I was a kid and somehow the innocence and purity of the Grom reminds me of all this... like I would buy one and make sure that it’s red instead of blue so that it could go off road and I could tape a piece of paper with a face on it to the front of the bike to make it go faster.

I love my GROM. Had it for several years already and ride it often. It's a very useful and practical bike for doing errands and shopping (throw rear rack and a trunk on it). You can park it anywhere, which I like, because I can almost always find a nook to stick it in right by the entrance or exit of some building. It's also so light that you can just pick it up and move it if need be...though that would also be an issue for theft. Mine gets about 110 MPG so the 1.5 gallon tank is nearly 200 miles of range.
As for mods, I recommend dropping a few teeth on the rear sprocket and getting an upgraded rear shock. These two mods alone will make it a lot better. Adjust the front spring preload to your weight to help cut down on diving under braking. That's really all it needs...and maybe some better tires. My grom can hold 60 MPH on a flat surface and no headwind. With a headwind I can usually hold at least 55 MPH so it's fast enough to use just about anywhere other than insterstate highways.
The Grom reminds me of 90’s civics. Cheap and reliable transportation that handle well. If you want, throw in some readily available cheap performance parts and get solid performance gains on the cheap. Just like Civics, they also accept larger displacement Honda motors relatively easy as well.
Groms are even more fun in certain environments. In Cali I've taken it up the mountains, trails, forests, hidden dirt tracks in fields, inside of a mall, stairs and all. If you live in the middle of bum fuck no where incestville USA etc. you might not have so much fun with a bunch of flat boring shitty roads around you. It is what you make of it.
what trails did you hit up with it here in Ca?
Spoken like a true elitist
In America with all the huge roads it's probably a little slow. Here In Scotland with our mix of tight and twisty roads it's a blast
I don't have a motorcycle license but I have planned this out. I won't be going on freeways or highways much. City streets will be fine I'm sure.
Grom is simply Great. I have been riding all year long for over 30years (always owing 600cc or larger). But last year I bought a Grom to teach my 16y/o daughter to ride (as my Z800 was not suitable). But I found out what a fun ride it is and now has become my winter commuting ride (so much easier to handle lightly snow covered roads with 100hp). I also found myself going through curves at higher speeds. With big CC bikes, it's too easy to brake hard before entering turns and then rely on the big HP to accelerate out (promotes lazy riding). But with the Grom, with the poor acceleration, you soon learn to enter turns much faster (not to lose speed) in order to exit quicker (promotes better skill riding). And when the wind and grade is just right, can hit 71 mph.
I own a Honda Monkey (same engine and such as the grom, just prettier) and I absolutely love it! I started riding last year after owning a 50cc scooter years ago. I live in a midsized city where the speed limit is 45mph, so it's plenty powerful enough for what I need. While I'm looking at getting something bigger soon, the only reason I want to is for road trips to visit family. I'll never get rid of the Monkey though, either to mess around on or to teach others how to ride.
Oh and while I get mocked for wearing full gear on it, I'll remind them that even falling off a motorcycle that is stopped is enough to seriously get injured. It could kill you even, especially without a helmet.
Man i didnt know someone would find the monkey pretty 😂 congrats man (no hate)
Awesome full gear at all times
Full gear at all times! I live off of a gravel road and tipped my Sportster 48 over when i went to take off. Single digit speed. Messed up my shins pretty good! I can imagine that I would have broke my leg if i wasn't wearing gear. Enjoy that Monkey! I'm picking one up for my daughter to learn on, and to have fun with it!
I broke my leg on a 50cc
Only losers make fun of people for being safe
Let all of us people that were afraid on motorcycles love the grom in peace! But seriously, it helps us vertically challenged people that are that were originally afraid of the two wheel death machines to hop on and learn the wonders of riding. Love ya Yammie ^-^

It would be a fun buisness to have a go cart type track for grom racing.

Just bought a 2024. Freaking fun to drive, great brakes, very smooth transmission, nimble. Just brings a smile to face riding along.
I had a trail 70 that was street legal and had more fun on it than my literbikes many years ago! I am waiting for the price to drop on the grom and I will pick one up when they get around a grand or less, unless I win one here along with the R1 that has my name on it already! LOL! In a couple more years the grom will go down in price! I use to throw the 70 in my motorhome and have something that was also street legal to get around on when camping! They are also great to run to the store on around town. Total blast to have those little bikes! As I watched this video I realized I really miss my 70, should have kept it. Thanks for sharing! David
Turns the streets into a playground...those words say it all! I love exploring with my grom!
I bought a grom clone and put a zs190 in it. It rips now, I love how cheap it is. It’s also my first bike in years.
Hey, is it the Lifan KP mini? Looking at getting one
My first experience on two wheels was renting scooters in bermuda with my brother. Since I'm from the states it was a challenge being on the left-hand side but man were they fun... We found a small track and took em for a rip racing each other and honestly that's where my love of biking came from. So fun exploring and whipping those things around.
I have z125. I live 8 miles from work and ride it to work every nice day. I've gotten nearly 140 miles out of gallon of fuel. I have larger displacement bikes but absolutely love small displacement bikes. I want to collect them all like matchbox cars. The SSR razskull, the Benelli tnt 135, the Honda Grom or monkey.
I have 750 miles on my 2022 ABS Grom. It's so much fun! It is a 5 speed gearbox and makes me smile
“Feel like I’m on a Toyota Corolla” 😂😂 Nice video. Definitely makes me want to try one out! I like how you’re giving an unbiased review about a motorcycle and enjoying the ride
Would have been cool if you had gotten a z125 and a Grom instead of two Groms. Regardless, I’m still here watching!

It’s so much fun for absolutely no reason but going back to the dumbed down basics. Loved mine, about to buy another lol
I got an used one with a little less than 2k miles on it, I'm at 22k+ miles and counting, I use it for deliveries (doordash, postmates) it's been very reliable on the stop an go traffic that I put it thru everyday. And an every now and then joy ride.

I'm thinking of using it for deliveries too. Since I'm in the city, do you think it's good for trafic since it's manual transmission? Do you go to highway or u use it in city road only? I'm really trying decide between zuma 125 and grom
You're giving that grom a big benefit of the doubt with 11hp 😂
Not bragging but my xsr900 has 117hp - I wish I could give that 17 to the grom like donating a kidney and making it more powerful.
Did my test on a Honda Rebel and loved it. They don’t make em anymore. Ended up buying a Grom and though I’ve had constant backlash nobody can take away the joy it brings me when I’m riding it.
5:56 i had a talk with another guy who, like me, has a 50cc scooter next to his big bike. i told him: "i really don't know why, but the the moment i sit on that scooter, i turn into a 15 year old hooligan, again. no fear. no rules. no nothing. just skidding around the city like an absolute maniac."
Probably because he doesn't mind dropping the scooter because it's cheap.
the clunkyness of the motor might be a worthy trade off for extreme reliability. Kinda like a crf 50. Actually damn near same motor
"Great bike to teach others how to to ride" that is the BEST explanation for this bike
I agree that riding something like this with a group of friends would be a lot of fun. I would buy one if I had a group to ride with.
Dude, I straight up love my Grom. It’s the perfect city bike. Pluuuus I did a bit of engine work (BBK/ported head/power commander etc). It rips up the city and I always get a ton of people chatting with me about it on the roads. Hehe 😁 it’s a cute ass bike man.

Absolutely love my Monkey. There's just something unexplainable about it that makes it so fun to ride around, even if it can only do 55 on a flat road. What I'm planning to buy next is a Pitster Pro 190R, which is a mini ADV bike with a 190cc engine. About the same size as a Grom/Monkey/Z125, but more power. ~$2500
Its essentially a sporty scooter... amazing mileage with compact size and does what it needs to at a safe speed.
I currently own a Grom myself, I can confirm they are a great laugh and a real head turner. However I'd recommend a 'bigger' bike as well for the motorways/freeways or just bigger rides in general but nipping around town is hella fun and it costs me under £5 to fill (in the UK so not sure what it's like in the states) Also awesome video as always my dude
About $2.50 or 2 quid to fill one in the states.
Answer: yes, it sucks, ad everything about it sucks, but it can still be a lot of fun. It's similar to riding an antique but without the coolness.
It can me a lot more fun to drive a slow car quickly than a fast car slowly.
There's a group of grom owners in my town. We have a very tight group of core members and then some randos that show up every now and then.

There is nothing better then doing a goon ride with 10-20 other small bikes.

I’m assuming it’s like watching a cheesy horror movie. You’re not going into it expecting an academy award worthy experience. You’re just watching for fun.
Some of us are older now, like me at 75, and facing physical problems that limit our riding ability. I sold my '94 Yamaha V-Max that I could no longer swing my leg over and March 1st I bought a new '23 Grom. The V-max got 22.5MPG on a good day, but the Grom gets 133MPG with my big butt on it and is good safe fun to ride. My wife, also 75, now has a new Kawasaki KLX 230 and we can take the two little bikes out and ride together again. She just traded in her MT-09 Yamaha. Small and light is GOOD. You don't have to have a big bike to enjoy riding
I did my msf course on a gromm. I had a good time. I remember I had open throttle and not going anywhere, then realised that I was dragging the foot brake. Haha.
I loved my grom big bore, yoshi exhaust ram intake with dyno. It flew now i telleport on my zx6r. But still let a tear thinking about my grom when i am in the center of town. Next gonna be the r1. ;)

7:34 I can get mine (2018 model, stock) over 60mph pretty consistently. Ive maxed it out at 62mph but could probably get it higher if I found I nice long stretch of road. Once you hit 50mph it starts to struggle but you can definitely get one without any mods over 60

I have a hard time explaining why the grom is so fun. Your explanation is great
I just bought a grom 2 weeks ago. I was skeptical though the want was major, I put it like driving a Miata they are slow but so much fun. Better to go fast in a slow car over slow in a fast car
I think for getting around a small city or college a 400cc used scooter is better than a new Grom, assume price is the same. Yes, shifting is fun but the 400 scooter can do highways and used as 1st bike is great. Ur right it is hard to have only the grom.
get a grom but as a 3rd or 4th bike maybe in ur 30s like to have fun, when u already have another bike that is ur primary ride.
a cagiva mito 125 is way more fun and way way faster than most 300cc a cagiva mito fullpower will do like 120mph and its insanely cheap you can get one for like 1500 euro
This looks like such a perfect buy for me here in Sevierville TN. I am wanting to leave my car sit for a little and use something else to take to work. This looks perfect!
There is no other bike on the market you can fully throttle, bang through all your gears and ride as fast as possible....and not break the speed limit. Thats worth more you think.

My buddy and i (we both ride sport bikes, daily (well, as much as we can since the weather is unpredictable) or we try to lol) and we both agreed that our secondary bikes are gonna be groms sense we found so many different hidden areas of our old neighborhood, which are now all either abandoned/overgrown, so we figured we would slap some all-terrain tires on our groms and get to exploring!
Actually I was fascinated by the Honda Monkey, too bad in Italy it is about 4k € and it cannot go on higways and I got the 2019 Svart for 700€ more
The Grom, MSX125 was not sold in Italy actually for a long time
And the Svart is a fucking weapon of a bike, it will spank anything on twisty stuff, you can put street tires, you can take it on some gravel, in the city is perfect, and it is easy but so rewarding if you can ride it. I just love it, the Grom/Monkey would have been so much more limited
For track riding and training pit bikes are perfect
It's like how I learned on an old Honda Trail 70 so it wasn't intimidating at all, and by time I got on a 250 I wasn't at all worried about if I knew how to ride.
I think that the Grom is pretty cool but I’m a real fan of the Honda Monkey. It reminds me of the Honda Trail 50 that so many two wheel worriers got their two wheeled beginnings on. If possible, would love to get your impressions on that interesting little bike. Thanks for all the great content. Be safe!
I've had 2 grows one second hand then one new.
Now I have a Kawasaki Z 125 Pro.
I got the welder out & made my own rack.
The Grom was only meant for beginners So eventually they would get a bigger and faster bike that's what you have to appreciate about it
I don't have a grom, but I do have a '72 Honda 350 four that I've been restoring. Having had several 350s over the years, the grom description is almost word for word for my 350. Its small, nimble, light, not very powerful, but more fun than a barrel of monkeys to ride..
Yammie , I'm Going to do the GROM VS The R1 Comparison Soon !!!!! Thank's Much for your INPUT
On the GROM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's just bizarre how this little honda has a bunch more features then some entry level hondas here in brazil.
Also, loved the video
I remember when I was a kid I had a little 125cc dirt bike I bought for about $200, amazing bike had it for over 10 years. Now you can buy the same thing for 3+ grand lmfao. Imo the grom is more of a novelty.
I got the clone for $1300 shipped
Great starter bike . Taught me soo much
I gave the Grom a spin while doing my MSF. It was a lot of fun!
"...riding a little 125 in Brazil..." Are you from Brazil?? Hail from a Brazillian new sub ; )
I have a little Intruder 125cc and a Fat Boy. Dude, it's so much fun riding the intruder. It's so small and nimble...I would love to ride the Grom
I rather have the Kawasaki Z125 Pro. I think... because of the looks. Maybe I prefer Kawasaki overall to Honda in general.
totally different class of bike but ok
Callum Boothroyd How is it a different class? I thought the Z125 was Kawasaki’s answer to Honda.
Callum Boothroyd how so?
Grom is a mini bike. The z125 while being a small displacement motorcycle is still quite a big frame size. Engine size doesn't matter.
Why do you think there is a cb125r honda? Or KTM Duke 125?
I am looking for an A1 motorcycle. I'm probably gonna ride mostly straight country roads.
So is an A1 even fun to ride outside the urban areas? Since the only fun thing to do on straight roads is to ride fast?
