Could we get a walkthrough of your personal guidebook? I’d be curious to get a closer look at it. I’m also jealous of your handwriting !

    Wow! Its awesome
Thanks for the idea. I am good with calligraphy and also have been practicing Tarot Reading since 3 years now. Inspires me to do something similar. ✨️

First off...I NEVER comment on YT. But...
You're guide book impressed the hell out of me! I love the calligraphy and how you made your own eclectic and personal reference. That's dope. I've been wanting to do the same but I only envisioned gathering my notes on flash cards or some schlubby notebook. You inspired me to put more effort into the end product though. I dig your creativity mucho! Ok... back to watching your video now. 😊 peace!

Back in the day there were no esoteric shops near me. I had to travel over an hour across town to a lady who sold crystals etc out of her home. She only had the rider Waite deck and the iconic eden grays the tarot revealed book🤣🥰 so much easier these days with internet and online shopping.

My wife does her own guide book with every single deck she owns plus others she doesn't but will get in the future she is obsessed with it all bit in a good way hers is in a 2 ring binder folder even has a way decent tarot journal which she has put heart and soul into it

Your guide book is so beautiful and authentic. I love that idea. I'm a "read it, write it, do it" myself kind of learner, so seeing the guide book you made, makes me want to do something similar as that's how I obtain information the best. Plus I love the witchy vibes the cover and handwritten pages give off. Kudos to you babe! Great video!!!

This is so freaking helpful! You gave some really good advice. I'm new to tarot (about a month in, but I'm also learning multiple systems right now, not just rws). I 500% agree with you on when you write it down you're already memorizing it. That is how I learn. People have looked at me like I'm crazy, but for the short while I was in college, I held my 4.0 like that. I would write things over and over, summarizing them a bit more each time and condensing them. What also helps is drawing little doodles, if you're stuck your mind may go to that little doodle and find it's way to the information you are seeking. It helps visually memorize information. I immediately knew that with this, trying to learn all the meanings and get the correspondences, history, other things I want to know and find useful, into a format I like and can easily navigate, I would be writing my own guidebook in a sense. I already got myself a 2" binder set up so I can easily move things around and revise as needed.
For starters I went and scanned my centennial pocket cards and printed them out black and white, saturation reduced so it would pretty much only print the line work.
I then started (haven't finished) coloring all the cards myself with my color pencils. This gives me some time with all of the images and I actually saw a bunch of things already that I have questions about and want to look into further (I should have made notes though, because I've already forgotten some of the things I wanted to look at 🤣).
I then plan to really look at and work with a single card for maybe a day or two each and write down what I can find on it, but also how I feel about it etc.
For now I'm starting this with the rws system, but my favorite deck so far is the wildwood which will be a whole other workload.
I also just had to get yggdrasil norse divination cards because I'm also german (and I identify with that much more than being american) and I miss home a lot so anything norse is fair game and I sometimes buy when I should really be holding back. Anyway. This deck... it's gonna want you to spend some time with it. You can't force it into working for a specific system, it's it's own system and I love it.
I think this one I will try to read in a world tree spread, pulling 9 cards and seeing how they relate to the placements they land on (the creators have designated placements for each of the 9 worlds on the tree and in relation to each other, each world then has 9 cards which are mostly deities but sometimes items like a ship, or creatures, or places). So for instance say you pull thor (whom they placed in jötunheimur/jotunheim) and he lands on miđgarđur/midgard in your spread. Miđgardur stands for the ego, the current position as well as of course the world of humans, so you would have to take all of that into consideration, as well as of course the querent, if not yourself, and the question.
This went off on a tangent, but yeah, I love learning. And spirit/deity/whatever you believe in knows there is a shitload to learn with tarot/oracle.
This is probably the most helpful video I've stumbled across when looking at which books to buy and the best advice wasn't even about which book to get 😆
    Thanks for this 💜

Your guidebook is beautiful! I know everyone has said this but there's something that feels so much more appropriate to have actual penmanship, human embellishment, rather than commercially printed for this sort of thing.

Love your journal! It's similar to the deep deck dive that I started doing from Boho Tarot! Most useful study practice to take what I've read, digest it, and see what resonated and "stuck out" as well as noting the more subliminal details! Love your videos!

Thank you, again, the book that I bought was The Ultimate Guide to the Rider Smith Tarot. you have no idea how many books I had bought and there are not worthy at all, I guess I didn't type the right information to find it., I live in a small town and there are no stores, besides the stores that were here, the big stores like Sears, and another hardware store have close down. and I guess the majority of people now do their shopping online.

Ooh my first book is holistic tarot. I got it today from amazon and I started reading it. It’s HUGE, but it’s interesting. I have the rider Waite tarot and I like how all the meanings of every card is in it as well as all the reversals. I was referred to this book as being a good beginner book, but now that you’re saying it’s not, I’m now regretting getting it.

What will be a good book to start with often depends on your learning style. For some a simpler book is a good way to start and for others who love diving into something really in depth the Hollistic Tarot is perfect. So give it a go. If you find it intimidating you can always find something simpler to ease into and refer back to it later.

    • @FutileGrief
      @FutileGrief 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

It's perfectly fine for beginners!! Anyone can benefit from this book. If it seems too daunting, keep the card meanings and when you feel confident you can read the rest and apply all the correspondences. Both beginner and advanced practitioners can get a lot from this book. It has it all. How has your experience been with it? Just saw this comment is a year old xD

I agree with all of your picks. All great books indeed. Sidenote to the "A New Handbook for the Apprentice" by Eileen Connolly, the astrological associations are Hermetic and won't match more popular systems. Example, the Devil is Saturn not Capricorn and Capricorn is the Justice card not Libra just to name a few. I am studying The Sacred Path Tarot by Brotherhood of the Light and these match up with that system which is nice for me but, I wouldn't recommend if you're studying that as it can be confusing.

I just started making my own book too! I've been reading the cards for like 15 years but only used one book that really held my hand through the process so I didn't have to learn the meanings of the cards. I'm ready to move on from that system and looking forward to creating my own study of the cards.

Have you made use of the 'Easiest way to learn the tarot ever'? It's from Dusty White, mine was ordered a few days ago and I'm so looking forward to start studying with it! Just wanted your opinion and recommend it to you anyways😂 I've read that tarot readers who've been reading the cards for more than 20 years, have found a huge difference by working through the book (as it is a workbook mainly) let me know if you order it and work with it. P. S I'm new to your channel ☺️ I'm a beginner but I'm not a fan of learning meanings nor symbols as with just the 4-5 sources I have for the meanings I've seen how they disagree 🤦🏻🤷🏻😂(or having lots of tarot books, it's just not my thing) I first use my intuition with each card and then read various interpretations of said card, and when I see it is the same train of thought, I consider I know the meaning. And then I see new meanings come up in readings, that's how I learn. That's just me, obviously 😂
Best Wishes, hope you are well x x

The only way the wife can function is by deep diving into advanced books she can't do beginners books there not for her it's with any areas of her life she does deep dives into advanced stuff first it's how she learns and learns a quick pace it was like she was telling me when she was in school she could not do year 3 book she had to have year 6 books and finished them within a couple.of days if not on the same day 😲😳 she also does that with her baby witches she has under her they have learnt very quickly with that method and yes alot of questions were asked but she handles it very well here motto is you have intelligence you don't need beginners books if you have intelligence
