Nice one Martyn, I'm so glad that you mentioned Janina Renée's book, it's been one of my favourites for donkey's years, I probably bought mine when you got yours. It's ace. Thanks for the Madame Pamita recommendation too, that's gone straight on my wishlist. 💜
@@martys_musings to be honest, I don’t buy tarot books any more so I wouldn’t really know what most of the modern ones are like. The last tarot book I bought was in 2017 (I just checked 😊) and it was Dirty and Divine by Alice B. Grist and that one’s really good and not like any other tarot book I’ve read. It’s more of a modern ‘journey through each card’ style book - no divinatory meanings or anything like that. I can imagine that the market is pretty flooded with crap though, just as there seem to be witchcraft books written by people in their 20s who’ve been witches for a few years or since their teens - nothing wrong with young people writing books but I think certain topics benefit from some life experience - god, I sound like a right old fart. Love to you babe 💜💜
@@juliefrancis3513 oh I agree totally! They are mostly geared now towards a different generation Julie. Alice is a friend of mine who wrote dirty and divine so I’m gonna be biased towards her book 🤣 but yeah, all the authenticity seems to be stripped away now. And of course I’m gonna agree with you being (almost) the same age! 🤣🤣🙌🏻💜
Wow! These look so good, especially those last two. I'm still learning as a beginner, but I am so interested in all these deep aspects of the cards. Thank you for these recommendations. I know I will be coming back to this video in the future. ✌️❤️
Welcome my friend. I have so many tarot books. Some good, and some terrible. These are a few I recommend. The TDM books I used are the Ben-Dov and the Jodorowsky 💜
Love when the TH-cam recommendations give us a video we actually need to see ❤ I think I need the Eileen Connelly book..... that was if I needed another book 🤭 It is always good to pick up a different perspective. Ever the eternal student! I have The Complete Tarot by Staci Mendoza RWS and Pitisci for overall keywords. Then a whole bunch of all sorts of everything else. Thank you 🙏💜🙏
You must be on my woo woo wavelength because I was just thinking the other day that when we meet for coffee, I wanted to ask you what books you’re most into!!!!! And I get on YT and here it is lol. Awesome video, pumpkin 💗
Back in the day there were no esoteric shops near me. I had to travel over an hour across town to a lady who sold crystals etc out of her home. She only had the rider Waite deck and the iconic eden grays the tarot revealed book🤣🥰 so much easier these days with internet and online shopping.
If I close my eyes and listen your voice sounds just like Simon from the Hermits Cave. Your just missing the “Aye up me ducks’” greeting…..I’m sure you’ve heard this before?? Anyway thanks for posting the deck reviews. I just subscribed and am enjoying the content.
I have a couple of these books but would like to pick up the Tarot Correspondences and Madam Pamita one, they look really good. Thanks for showing these Martyn 😍❤️
Are there any tarot books that skip card explanations and go directly to giving numerous examples of reading spreads and how card combinations relate to one another. I am looking for that book. The thought process going on inside the mind of a reader when confronted with seemingly conflicting concepts and images.
I'm yet to find one myself. They all seem to be tarot 101 books. I do have one called tarot correspondences which is good. And the one I could recommend is 365 tarot spreads. There aren't any as far as I know with just combinations in.
Thank you for responding. So, it is obvious that, that is a book that needs to be written. I found an audio book, a few days ago, on Etsy by a content creator called the Tarot Oracle Guy. @@martys_musings
Appreciate the Correspondence book info 💜 I've seen differing opinions, generally good but, have you noticed any info to be "off" or otherwise wrong in it? I'm not sure I'd know, but more than just one or two said it has some incorrect info.... didn't sound like enough to be a complete dealbreaker but IDK, just wondering bc it's a pretty hefty!
This was SO helpful. I love at the end when you said what each is good for. That’s the kinda review I need! Thanks!
You're very welcome 🤗

Thanks Julie. I love that Janina Renee book! Don’t you think the books back then were all less of all the ‘love and light’ nonsense? 💜

Madam Pamita's has a new cover now, I almost re-bought it, thinking it was a different one 😆

Ah that’s because we are both from the midlands 💜 Simon’s from the east. I’m from the west. Thank you so much for watching and subscribing 😍

I think it depends what original sources are being used to be honest. It’s worth having other options to see what fits best 💜
@@martys_musings very true!
Great video. Thanks! Do you have any recommendations for a book or books to learn Marseilles?
Thank you. I can recommend the way of the tarot by Jodorowsky
@@martys_musings Thank you! That is one of the books I was considering
The other one too by Ben Dov is amazing.
Would that Complete Book of Tarot be good for someone learning Thoth and Marseille? Asking for myself.
I prefer the Jodorowsky and Ben dov books for the Marseille. And the book by Lon Milo DuQuette for the Thoth.
@@martys_musings thank you so much!
You’re welcome ☺️
Do you have any recommendations for tarot books that are very LBGTQIA+ friendly?
There’s an excellent books laurel. It’s called Queering the tarot. It’s by Cassandra snow 🌈

You could have shown the whole book on screen - not just the upper part.
The title can be seen so what's your problem?
