This was an important and necessary conversation. So many current narratives around 'race' and 'racism' are extremely unhelpful and unproductive. And usually done in bad faith. This was refreshing. Shout out to GB News for having me on!

I've been arguing for quite a while now that today's Woke Left is NOT progressive but rather regressive.
And I say that as someone who has identified as small "p" progressive most of my adult life.
      *Left =/= progressive*
The progressive position I hold is that I'm in favor of adopting ideas or values which lead to the maximizing of progressive for all sentient individuals *irrespective* of whether the ideas for progress originated in the farthest Right Wing or Left Wing camps. Let's evaluate it all as objectively as possible.

"treated with respect and dignity" I love that you specifically brought up that folks should be "treated" with respect AND* dignity. Folks demand respect now-a-days, and It's a choice by others to treat you with respect before you've earned it. Don't get it mixed up. On the other hand, people have forgotten what treating others with DIGNITY, really means. Beautiful words you executed Zuby while remaining stoic.

Not enough people, especially White people, checked out the BLM website like you did back when it started. Like you, I did, and among other things I was taken aback by its description of George Zimmerman as "white passing". Your demographic has been practicing identity politics for eons. It isn’t anything new at all. And it’s been to severe detriment to my ethnic demographic, because we’ve been taught to practice only extreme individualism and to allow your demographic to have many privileges over us without us pushing back in the slightest. We aren’t allowed to stand up for ourselves or have ethnic pride.
The fact is that my demographic_HAS_ to start practicing identity politics and unifying for our survival, because every other demographic does it and will continue to do it. If we don’t start standing up for ourselves and fighting back, it is certain that we won’t even exist in a couple hundred years time.

🙄 Enough of the BS. My demographic is in the process of being wiped out of existence, so to tell me that it’s ”the dark path” for us to unite to fight back against it, and that we should just let it take it’s course silently, is the extreme height of absurdity.
You lack common sense. Everyone else has been playing identity politics for eons, except for us who have been benched on the sidelines. The “game” goes on whether we participate or not - but us not participating has only brought ruination to us. We’re not even allowed to have a homeland anymore. You have no business telling us to stay quiet on the sidelines whilst our grandchildren no longer look like us.

Yes, the LGB rights movement seems to include at least 9 letters now, LGBTQQIPA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, pansexual, asexual) ... and yet there is no valid reason why people with all these different sexual identities and preferences should be put in one "socio-political community" in the first place. Many lesbian women, for example, have said they don't wish to be included in the same movement as some others in this list, because their beliefs and views may be totally different ( ... particularly when some biological males exercise "their right" to invade women's previously-protected sports and spaces!) ... but they cannot stop the original LGB movement from snowballing, even though they no longer see it as "a single community".

Myself and any person who has ever asked that question would say something akin to “of course they matter, but they don’t matter than everyone else’s. They all are supposed to matter equally.”

Now, even Zyby said it.. all this systemic racism, BLM BS movement, media only reporting on white vs black crime, etc.. "It's REGRESSIVE!" and he's absolutely correct.
It's perpetuating division and violence NOT encouraging unity and peace.. that's super unfortunate..

Just found this channel and love it. The whole “systemic” racism thing is such a misnomer. I’m a Hispanic. The systemic racism I’ve experienced has been a BENEFIT. Yes! In the military I was told that it is easier to qualify for some programs for me because I’m a minority. After the military I qualified for schools, programs, and scholarships more easily because I was a minority. As a minority in tech I have an advantage in getting hired over any Caucasian male just because of m a minority.
To summarize, systemic racism exists and most commonly benefits me (a minority) over white men. It’s not fair. It’s not right. I’m tired of being told I need extra “help” because I’m a minority. Essentially society today assumes I’m less capable because I’m a minority. I also don’t blame white males for being frustrated at this treatment.

    • @joshuam4993
      @joshuam4993 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Look, as a Hispanic I also agree with you. I think some of these policies began genuine. Also depends, on location. Dream act gave immigrant kids a chance. Affirmative action helped even the scales out.
Lets face it, urban kids and poorer kids simply didn't have access to good resources, schools and environment to foster high levels of success. And yes, racism and bias was real. As a Hispanic living in Texas this definitely existed. Also, when I was a kid Hollywood portrayed us all as lawn mower kids riding donkeys. Which pissed me off to no end.
Now? Some degree of encouraged inclusivity in media DID help. Began to put more ranges of color. And showing Mexicans that were wealthy, good looking etc.
Therefore, a little bit of tweaking to help those of us at a disadvantage to succeed, is not an entirely bad thing. It DID put more Hispanics and people of color, high achieving ones into more higher levels of society and institution. It's not like they are hiring thugs.
But the problem is the left has taken it too far merely to pander and weaponized it for their own gain to hide how fucking terrible they really are by false progressiveism. And using it to drive a future wedge between them.

Very articulate and rational explanation...thank you Sir.
On a personal note, I loved your criticism of the terms around "systemic" racism. When I was the Chair of a small university dept, I had colleagues that kept referring to the need to "fight systemic racism in our dept". As the Chair of the dept I was a little shocked and asked what had the dept, and by extension me, done that was racist? If the dept was racist then it was my responsibility as the Chair to address it. Their response was "oh we're not saying you are racist, just that the dept is". So again I asked, "OK, please give me something specific that the dept has done that is racist, and I will address the issue immediately?" Of course they couldn't. All they could do was go around and around in circles claiming "all systems are racist", but then never backing it up with specific examples. Eventually I offered my resignation and said "well if the dept is racist then someone needs to take responsibility so obviously as Chair I should resign for being complicit in racist policies". To this they just said "oh now you are being silly and taking this way too personally". That is why your point about never actually fixing anything was so spot on for me. If you attack a specific person and say "you are racist" then people will take it personally and might fight back. They will demand specific examples. This might lead to some awkward discussions but there is a chance things can get resolved. Either the claims of racism will be found to be false, OR, the issues will be identified and there is hope of resolving the racist policies. But claim it is just this nebulous "system" that it racist, and there is no-one to fight back. Nothing gets resolved but everyone just nods and agrees "it is all racist".
