- Muhammad Ali vs. Floyd Patterson refers to two heavyweight professional boxing matches. The first match took place on November 22, 1965, for the WBC/Ring/lineal world heavyweight championship; and the second on September 20, 1972, for the regional North American Boxing Federation (NABF) heavyweight title. Ali won both fights through technical knockouts. The first fight was stopped in the 12th round; and the second after the 7th round.
On November 22, 1965, Patterson fought Ali for the first time. Patterson lost by technical knockout at the end of the 12th round, going into the fight with an optimistic view. Patterson suffered from a ruptured sacroiliac joint in his lower back which greatly reduced his mobility after the first round. Instead of scoring a quick knockout, Ali mocked, humiliated and punished Patterson throughout, before the referee stopped the fight in the 12th round. A New York Times reporter complained that the fight was like watching someone "pulling the wings off a butterfly.

Ali would of never survived the "real Sonny Liston" it was a no-brainer that Liston was in trouble with the mob and that time. Which makes that the infamous phantom punch sum hilarious shit! Liston took the dive and the investigation behind all that, clearly speaks it! Any of the older generation knows the truth behind this..Plain & simple!
Imagine this version of Ali against 80's Tyson, would be very interesting
Tyson isn't Patterson - - Tyson hit much harder and could get inside so much more efficiently - - this version of Ali may have won but would have taken quite a beating. 😂
@@danbernardi6599 don't forget Ali wasn't at his best here against Patterson, he didn't need to show his great retreat footwork because Patterson wasn't aggressive. Tyson would be charging Ali, catching nothing but air. And of course no one knocks Ali out so not worried about when Tyson does land, as each round goes by the fight gets easier for Ali
