Idk why PC games dont give us the options to lower the textures soo much or compress. I'll always bring this example: Fallout 4 and Skyrim have they high-res textures as free DLC, you can save disk space by just disabling the DLC and downloading only the basic lowres textures and I think fortnite tried the same thing last year. Why don't all games do this? Seems like a relatively easy solution. No need to pack 4k textures for everyone, they should be optional. More games need to have Ultra textures (and uncompressed audio) as free DLC so you can choose to download them separately. Also, most games could probably get away with doing half-res normal maps to increase performance. But this requires management actually caring about the players and not wanting them to continue churning out (money making) content. They should release games with low res textures for 1080p and a 4k texture pack for those that want it. They should seriously start making stuff like 4k textures, language files and cutscenes optional downloads. It's completely dumb to fill up disc space with crap you won't use if you play on 1080p or 1440p and only use one language I will never stop being impressed with what the original Legend of Zelda, LoZ:OoT, and resident evil 2 (N64 port) managed to accomplish in 128kB, 32MB, and 64MB respectively. I played the playtests and it's phenomenal. Yet to purchase the early access release but I can't wait to play it again. My pc is below average at best and although my monitor is only 60 hz, I pulled up the fps counter uncapped and I was getting peaks of 240 fps and a smooth 110 fps in crowded areas, like the flood barrier on one map, over 70 people on each team were there, 140 players constant gunfire and explosions and I was at over 100 fps on a below average rig. That's nothing to scoff at, and the gameplay is unrivalled. Its cheap price point, accessible yet challenging gameplay and its content rich style is insane for just below 20 quid. They could've charged up the ass for this amazing game and people would flock to it in droves, but for the price it is, at such a low point of entry for system requirements it's a true marvel in modern gaming. And the community is amazing. I've come across 2 bad apples in my 30 hours play time and that's exclusively playing the 254 lobbies all at max capacity. That's astonishing. To have everyone band together to just get immersed in a game and most of all have fun above anything else is truly the best gaming experience I've had in my life. All that so far for absolutely no money on the free pre launch playtests. Safe to say I'm buying this when I get home to my pc after this holiday cause I want to play this again so badly
This is what it is : Project Zomboid, Deep Rock Galactic, Binding of isaac, Valheim, Risk of Rain, Terraria, Minecraft and BattleBit now are all succesful games that is content over graphic ... and this is the only game i play (not mentionning the $$$$$$$ value over hours played)
By gamers, for gamers. It takes me way back to nostalgia road where games weren't heavily monetized with paywalls and micros. Just fun gameplay! Think team fortress 2. I want it to be one of my pick up and play games, like mordhau where when you are bored, you can just pick it up and have fun without having the latest gear, rank, level. I got to level 75 then went and got the supporter pack purely because i am that impressed with it and it truly deserves the praise its getting. 10/10, highly recommend.
Among its many other positives, Battlebit is a solid pushback against the decade long trend of shooters becoming overloaded with visual clutter. IMO the simplistic art style is good for the gameplay focus Battlebit has. I like crazy high spec graphics as much as anyone, but more in single player games or something slower paced, where you can actually enjoy it instead of feeling like it's in the way. I don't feel like I'm handicapping myself by running the game on Ultra, unlike many other FPS where having your graphics as low as possible gives a tangible competitive advantage.
the question is how to not enjoy this game. But i think i can stop playing whenever i want...YES ? and i can t wait for your next streams from battle bit because thanks to this game i found your channel
Remember: day one DLC is not extra content. It is part of the base game they removed and are selling separately in order to rip off their own customers.
DLC? They haven't got any DLC aside from a few skins they gave to people that backed the Patreon way back during testing. They just decided to open them up to people on Steam if they want them. There's no actual content behind DLC in Battlebit.
@@MrAtomicDuck I didn't say Battlebit did. I was referring to most AAA titles these days. E.g. Cities Skylines 2 is releasing in October with day one DLC.
I wish more devs would stop pushing graphics for a little and just work with what worked instead of always trying to reinvent the wheel. This game does just that, and i love it's simplicity. I get over 400 fps on all high and it's probably one of the most responsive games I've played in a while, I'm excited for console players to hopefully get the chance to play this cause I'm sure it can easily push the 120fps mode.
I've wanted VR devs to go this direction since the dawn of time. Low detail, tons and tons of features and mechanics and massive maps with tons of players and destruction. Everything big studios do is moving towards tiny and beautiful games at 30fps rather than huge and feature rich at 120fps smooth as silk. There's more than one way to make an amazing game. Graphics really don't matter... Minecraft is beautiful once you've played it for a while.. Most people's brains are going to adapt to the graphics presented. Around the early 2000s we had Operation Flashpoint with huge maps and vehicles and soldiers and everything.. We had Battlefield 1942, smaller maps but HUGE stuff compared to what we normally see.. We had Everquest and my favorite, Starsiege Tribes.. Huge scale games seemed to be the future.. Then higher detail assets became more and more of a thing, which meant very large maps become extremely expensive to make, and all of a sudden games started shrinking again around 2006. Now they're smaller than ever, but gorgeous.. Who cares. Make games ugly again! Use those processor cycles on something other than sparkly bits.
@@MrAtomicDuck really hard for me to pin point one specific reason. I just think as a whole it is really well rounded. Is fun playing, runs on everything, came right at the right time imo, has some uniqueness with the low poly in fps gaming (embracing the roblox graphics meme xD). Yeah just really has a lot going for it. Also it is just a really good game, incredible for a early access release. I hope we can play and enjoy it for some more time ^^
Nearly 90,000 concurrent players thats mad for an early access game. Watching all the vids has gotten me the itch to play but sadly it's not on PS5 or X one X, i'm missing that Battlefield FPS fix, my last BF game was BF1, but iv'e always wanted that Bad company /BF3 or BF4 feel again. So as a plea to the Devs, can you please think of releasing this on the two latest consoles at some point (you'll gain atleast another 100,000 new players at a minimum). PS: Great Vid to watch.
Battlefield used to have a unique, successful and time proven formula. Then they decided to scrap all that with battlefield 2042, and instead copy elements from various other games, including hero shooters. They scrapped the class system and went with operators instead. The game even launched without a scoreboard, and when they finally decided to upgrade the squad management system, it was lacking at best, and some would even call it "woke" as you can't even kick players to make room for friends in the squad etc. The game lacked tons of traditional quality of life features that had always been in battlefield games previously. Minimal destruction, few weapons and gadgets, few and poorly designed maps, lacking XP system, nerfed movement system etc, and tons of bugs. You couldn't even dive under water anymore, and there are no naval units. Movement mechanics for vehicles was also severely dumbed down, so there's no skill required to master them anymore, meaning that there's no reward associated with mastering them either. Instead of focusing on adding new content to the game, they instead had to spend most of their time trying to "fix" it by reintroducing what they call "battlefield legacy features" like a scoreboard, classes etc, as well as trying to fix the poorly designed original maps. Then comes battlebit: A low poly game with lego-like graphics, and it mops the floor with battlefield 2042... Why? Because they gave the fans exactly what they wanted, but didn't get from battlefield 2042. They gave them that time proven battlefield experience. It has tons of features, none of the "woke" elements that only degrades the gaming experience ( like having no scoreboard to prevent anyone's feelings from being hurt, unable to kick people from squads etc). Battlefield 2042 still don't even have a server browser for the main game mode, and you can only play with 4 friends in a squad, less than in previous games. Battlebit has surely capitalized on the vacuum left by battleifled 2042's failure to please long time fans. Battlebit has basically implemented everything that was great from that time proven battlefield formula, while Dice has done the exact opposite, trying to reinvent the wheel and ending up with a square wheel that just doesn't work, making most of their player base run away and straight into the arms of battlebit instead.
Theres a severe gaming drought. I happen to like good games that aren't 2D/Isometrics or soulslikes. Its been like a desert out here. I have 100hrs on battlebit and still suck. Still about to go play some more. Its fun.
Wouldn't say there's a gaming drought but there's a very severe FPS drought. Battlefield and CoD are overpriced crap and Halo Infinite was done absolutely dirty by 343. I've been stuck playing Planetside 2 for the past 10 years and now Battlebit is the first game that can actually finally replace it.
I largely agree with everything you said here. I think you can sum up BattleBit by stating: it's just fun to pick up and play. There's no time needed to figure out the stupid quirks of how to optimize the game; there's no time spent figuring out the gimmicky mechanics, the overpowered (typically paid for) features, the cheesy glitches, etc. Just download and play, like how games were from the ~2010-2016 era of online gaming I haven't felt genuinely hooked on a game in a long long time (maybe a bit with Insurgency Sandstorm when it first came out) but this seems to really be doing it for me. Hopefully the Battlefield series recognizes this is what we actually want, not the pile of dogshit that was 2042
Okay this is getting out of hand, I see all of your uploads of this game but never watch the videos. Last night I had a dream that I played and it was actually epic gameplay and very satisfying and exciting. How much $$ is this roblox wana be
I dont think its just that not focussing on graphics gives more time for the other aspects of the game; not like the big studios cant hire 3 developers to work on those other aspects. Its that fancy graphics actively get in the way of the gameplay of FPS style games, and especially large scale battlefield type games. Graphics get in the way of fluidity, consistent mechanics (why cant my vehicle drive here; why does this block my aim? why cant I climb that surface?), visibility... you know the kind of stuff that makes for satisfying game mechanics. Ive long been of the opinion that UT99 was the peak of fps gaming and its all been downhill since then; but this is the first game since that has me willing to reconsider that opinion. Personally what id like to see these guys take on next is a less realism focussed version of a game like this; more aimed at motion, rocket jumps, jetpacks, dodging, unrealistically OP melee weapons that reward pulling off said fluid motion; and with heavily nerfed sniping and ranged weapons in general (or powerful ranged weapons being mostly slow and counterable/dodgeable). Like the classic UT/quake games; I think such a less realistic game mechanic that rewards superior movement is a lot more fun than a game dynamic that mostly just rewards the ability to land the fastest headshots. The scope glint is a nice touch though I have to say.
I 100% agree with your video, great points. However, it is sad and/or ironic that this is EXACTLY what studios did "back in the day". The formula is not revolutionary in any way, it's just "forgotten" and ignored by immense corporate greed. Also, LMAO at that Gamerant article, talk about bootlickers for EA. All that aside, Battlebit is an awesome game. I bought the DLC just to support them even more. Give gamers a genuinely good game and the popularity and money will come, as deserved.
It is sad, you're right. The gaming industry has definitely become more corporate than it used to be, sadly the way a lot of industries go when they grow to a large size.
Cooperate greed is the exact reason for specialists/hero type character/class selection. It's so they can sell you more characters. It's literally a class with a different name to make you feel like your getting something special but the reality is you are just buying classes rebranded as something else.
It’s amazing what happens when you make a game people actually want instead of something they don’t want and then telling them not to buy it if they don’t like it lol!
My main reason why I refunded the game sadly goes to not the devs but the fact that players play like every match is a E sports tournament. The devs made the game great though and maybe once they add a PvE I would download it again.
@@MrAtomicDuck i played a lot before the release and had a blast but as soon as it came out out of the 6-7 games I went on like 6 kills - 20 deaths haha
BattleBit really had made it clear to me how much gaming itself has come to sort of mirror so much else in modern existence - a veneer of excessively shiny graphics, over absolutely uninspired mechanics, which when mixed with monetization schemes, sucks all the joy out of gaming. And I dunno about all of you but I’m so sick of games that make my pc run like a furnace but feel utterly dead beneath the shiny veneer.
As competent a shooter as it is, and as amazing as it is that this was made with just 3 developers, if BF2042 hadn't launched as such a steaming pile of shit this game probably wouldn't have peaked 10k. Also, I did not know this was from the guys that did Unturned. I fucking LOVE that game.
You're probably right, but as you said, it's an amazing title and that world never came about, so not worth thinking about really. Just glad we've got a good game to play :)
2042 wasnt that bad, what got me disliking it was 50fps on a 3070 and an r5 3600, performance and optimization is being ignored by triple A devs now for years. COD and BF are both games that have gotten so hard to run proper. Battlebit is a godsend
I wish nothing but the best for these 3 devs. AAA game dev companies can suck it. Not the people that actually make them, but the idiots that sit on the top who never played a game in their lives thinking they know what we want.
Reason #1: It's the "return to form" Battlefield game people have been dying for since at least BF1, if not longer Reason #2: It's not a bug-ridden, unplayable mess like World War 3 was. To think WW3 could've been this if only it had been playable.
7:45 They tried to address what players actually wanted through portal mode but it ended up just being mediocre slightly worse old battlefield experience at best. There was also no callbacks to Battlefield 4? That’s what bothers me is that the formula they used that made games good was “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” Battlefield 3 was perfect so Battlefield 4 ended up being very similar. Then in hardline they kept the same battlefield feeling despite the theme change. After hardline the developers tried too hard to make battlefield something it’s not
The push for better graphics has hurt game development. I enjoy a good looking game as much as anyone else, but with so much development time and money spent on graphics. Games have become incredibly expensive and time consuming to develop. Leading to longer dev times and more expensive games.
Hell a finished game alone nowadays speaks volumes. I mean look at Elden Ring, it cost $60 and it was one of the top sellers. People are so sick of scummy studios churning out unfinished products which only exist to cash out as much as they can on their community. People want to play games that were meant to be games, not gambling behemoths.
For me game mechanics and physics engine has to be strong core. There is no point if you have photo realistic guns in your hand but clipping through walls just like it is full transparent.
aint not nobody gives a shit about graphics. If the art style of a game is good, it's not pay to win, or in game systems and mechanics are done well... then the game will be successful. Battlebit will be more popular than the Battlefield from here on out. The only thing busted in this game is the SMGs. Once they fix that problem.. the game will be in a perfect condition.
I give a shit about the graphics. I grew up on pixelated games and watched how new tech improved on visuals over the years. I dont want it to go backwards. I admit gameplay is very important and has a lead over visuals.. but it would be nice to have games that have awesome gameplay supported by awesome graphics.
@@jaxta4524 100% But apparently that's not what developers who seem to have good graphics at their disposal care about... They don't want games that will last a decade because they have great gameplay and timeless graphics. They want you to buy the next game in a few years that has that feature you've been wanting since the last one left it out.
Two factors with the game. One easy anti cheat, is not going to cut it. FPS games have a hacker problem, and it has got 10x worse over the years to the point people are paranoid. and two, When almost everyone running around as a medic. It gets annoying.
They're already working on a replacement for easy anti cheat. Devs said it isn't good enough for a modern FPS game. They're working with Faceit to bring a tailor-made version of Faceit anti-cheat to market that would suit an MMO style FPS game. Already trailing it in some severs. Players wont have to download anything when it's done. It will just be there when you boot it up one day.

Absolutely!
Glad you're enjoying it man! TF2 was the GOAT
this is one of the videos of all time.
It is indeed one of the videos.
The thing i also like about this game is that they add content quickly, it just took 1 week for them to add a new map i think
Correct! New content fast is a good way to keep players.
I've seen the map. And I guarantee there'll be way more maps with how easy they are to make
I wasn't sure if I was going to try BBR then I saw it was only 15$. I'm hooked it's sooo fun to play for an hour when I get the time.
Glad you're enjoying it!
Battlebit commander role is all we need now. Artillery 👀 The map would be devastated lol
Oh god I would absolutely love this 😂 Air support assets are on the way I believe!
@@MrAtomicDuck Oh dear... 😈
this is the first vid i watched about battlebit and well now i’m convinced to buy this game!
Hopefully you enjoy it!
Have you been enjoying Battlebit? Have you tried it yet? Let me know!
Rank 100 right now and still having a blast. Coming from CoD no SBMM is really something I enjoy
Yea im level 55 after 2 weeks game too aditcting
the question is how to not enjoy this game. But i think i can stop playing whenever i want...YES ? and i can t wait for your next streams from battle bit because thanks to this game i found your channel
An amazing game! This what Battlefield should be
@Dragon-se5qn I too can stop whenever I want... I just don't want to.
@@HarryBalzak Completely agree! Although your initial comment was a bit confusing, easy to think you were talking about Battlebit ^^
They deserve all the success. It's a very well done game play.
Agreed!
More people should see this video, especially game dev
Thanks!
I feel like im 15 playing BF3 again. Its so freaking satisfying to play its unreal.
Right?!
A great reminder that "overnight success stories" can often take years
Absolutely. Hard work and dedication paying off.
I miss playing with the crew 😢😢😢 Battlebit looks like a fun game to goff around in!
No reason to miss us Redwood, we're still here! Discord my friend.
Great Video
Thanks! Anything you wanna add as to why you think Battlebit might be doing so well?
@@MrAtomicDuck really hard for me to pin point one specific reason. I just think as a whole it is really well rounded. Is fun playing, runs on everything, came right at the right time imo, has some uniqueness with the low poly in fps gaming (embracing the roblox graphics meme xD). Yeah just really has a lot going for it. Also it is just a really good game, incredible for a early access release. I hope we can play and enjoy it for some more time ^^
Me too! A lot of reasons why it's been doing well for sure.
Battlebit has been the most fun ive had with an fps since battlefield 1
Agree
i suck at the game but i definitely enjoy it.voice makes it even more fun if u try to role play a certain class
VOIP in BB is absolutely hilarious sometimes
absolutely love playing it with the boys
Tis a good one for squad games!
Here in Canada for me to buy the standard version of D4 would cost $90+ tax.
Yeah, D4 is a rough one.
funny how this game feels more finished than anything thats come out in the last few years but is still in early access
One of my favorite games I have ever played.
Heck yeah, glad you're enjoying it! Favorite map so far?
Nearly 90,000 concurrent players thats mad for an early access game.
Watching all the vids has gotten me the itch to play but sadly it's not on PS5 or X one X, i'm missing that Battlefield FPS fix, my last BF game was BF1, but iv'e always wanted that Bad company /BF3 or BF4 feel again.
So as a plea to the Devs, can you please think of releasing this on the two latest consoles at some point (you'll gain atleast another 100,000 new players at a minimum).
PS: Great Vid to watch.
Thank you! Fingers crossed for you console folks!
Imagine how much this game could blow up it if had a console port... That player count for the very niche PC gaming world is astounding.
Pretty good analysis
Thank you! Glad you found it entertaining :)
In the words of Todd Howard, "It just works"
Not the Howard 😂
It does all that and it is not even a finished game. It launched in early access.
If anyone deserves it the devs of this game do, been making the game for seven years with just the few of em, good for them
Heck yeah.
Theres a severe gaming drought. I happen to like good games that aren't 2D/Isometrics or soulslikes. Its been like a desert out here.
I have 100hrs on battlebit and still suck.
Still about to go play some more.
Its fun.
A true soldier.
Just download and play, like how games were from the ~2010-2016 era of online gaming
I haven't felt genuinely hooked on a game in a long long time (maybe a bit with Insurgency Sandstorm when it first came out) but this seems to really be doing it for me. Hopefully the Battlefield series recognizes this is what we actually want, not the pile of dogshit that was 2042
Absolutely! Well said.
I just bought it today and love it

Okay this is getting out of hand, I see all of your uploads of this game but never watch the videos. Last night I had a dream that I played and it was actually epic gameplay and very satisfying and exciting. How much $$ is this roblox wana be
Lmao! It's $15 USD, definitely worth a try sir.
@@MrAtomicDuck 10-4
just heard of this looks cool will buy
Let me know what you think!
Lol I thought this looked familiar. Two of the guys worked on unturned!
You just sold me that game.
Well I hope you enjoy it!
This crushes battlefield and I think xdefiant will crush cod traditional mp
My main reason why I refunded the game sadly goes to not the devs but the fact that players play like every match is a E sports tournament. The devs made the game great though and maybe once they add a PvE I would download it again.
Really? I feel like you might have got unlucky there! We've had some hilarious encounters.
@@MrAtomicDuck i played a lot before the release and had a blast but as soon as it came out out of the 6-7 games I went on like 6 kills - 20 deaths haha

Try some of the smaller 64 v 64 or 32 v 32
i used to play unturned it all makes sense now
Ya know I never got into Unturned. Tried, just didn't vibe with it!
Ah the Unturned modding origin story makes sense. That game is fun. That was a solo 14 year old developer apparently. Is he part of this 3 man crew?
I play this before wen beta test i enjoy alot and looking forward to buy it but right know dont have money to buy it lol
Nailed it
Thank you for watching!
I knew it, graphics are exactly like unturned.
Definitely! Crazy cool to see modders turning into full-blown game developers.
Who would have thought that a good multi-player fps with great gun/gameplay and dosent slap you in the face with micro transactions would succeed.
Why is it so popular? Because they gave us what we asked for instead of gaslighting us when they make exactly what we don't want like the AAAs do
Yeah that about sums it up!
Vote with your wallets everyone. These developers are giving gamers what we want.
Well said.
Reason #1: It's the "return to form" Battlefield game people have been dying for since at least BF1, if not longer
Reason #2: It's not a bug-ridden, unplayable mess like World War 3 was.
After hardline the developers tried too hard to make battlefield something it’s not
Formula: Do it right
Pretty much!
The push for better graphics has hurt game development. I enjoy a good looking game as much as anyone else, but with so much development time and money spent on graphics. Games have become incredibly expensive and time consuming to develop. Leading to longer dev times and more expensive games.
Im good on this but to each his own if this is your thing
Hell a finished game alone nowadays speaks volumes. I mean look at Elden Ring, it cost $60 and it was one of the top sellers. People are so sick of scummy studios churning out unfinished products which only exist to cash out as much as they can on their community. People want to play games that were meant to be games, not gambling behemoths.
For sure! Having a game with lots of hours of playtime really is such a rarity these days.
"well rounded game" but is a blocky one
I see what you did there.
Wish I could play but my Linux pc dose not allow me
:(
I no the tutorials I have found to fix the problem don’t work but I am getting a new Linux system so hopefully👍🏻
Fingers crossed for you man!
Game is dope...
Agreed!
Simple: AAA titles gave us things we never asked for, never needed
Agree
I'm gonna be honest in my opinion games with lesser good graphics I find more fun the play most of the time
I think a lot of people share those thoughts!
For me game mechanics and physics engine has to be strong core. There is no point if you have photo realistic guns in your hand but clipping through walls just like it is full transparent.
Seen "stodeh" playing it. Might have to convince some friends fo try it out.
Give it a go! You won't regret it :D
If 2042 never fails, battlebit might not be as popular. Talk about timing
Fortuitous for sure.
This is how I wanted to see Battlefield
BattleGOAT
You know I swear I've seen this one before
Nope, never happened. Never ever.
Controller update or console release and i'm there...
Would be good to see this come to console!
Its 15 bucks. Get it do yourself a favor
You heard the man!
Play-ability has always been more important than graphics. People want to enjoy a game, not watch a movie.
Ubisoft better be taking notes OR NONE at all
aint not nobody gives a shit about graphics.
Its not pretty but its cheap fun and your friends can join in.
Yep!
Why is it so popular? is fun
4 second video, you could've saved so much time smh
You right, shoulda one-lined it. My b.
@@rydakule cool! looking forward to it.
my only concern is that EA of how evil they are, will at some point sue battlebit because they co[pied their battlefield.
That's not a thing that can happen. Game mechanics can't be protected by law.
BF4 is still better than Battlebit so far, as it has more content so I don't understand the hype
That's okay! Everyone can enjoy different things.
