Madlittlepixel Madlittlepixel Before I just had my GameCube connected the normal way, with the av cable it came with. I notice a slight difference but not anything too crazy
Does this allow you to put it in 1080 even 720 with anti aliasing or something similar to that?
Hey MLP, on another note than the video, I'm buying an 8bitdo Megadrive controller, do I need a USB adapter for it to work on my Megadrive mini? Cause I'm looking and the adapter its with looks like that OG one the OG Megadrive came with. Thanks any advice is appreciated man.
Where are you purchasing from? On amazon is see two different listings for the same 2.4g wireless megadrive controller (not bluetooth). One comes with the original megadrive connector and the other comes with the megadrive classic connector.
@@ians_parks I was getting it off Ebay and it just looked like an old school MD connector so might need an adapter with it I guess. I'll look up the classic one you mentioned though.
Do you have to have Swiss installed? I want to keep mine as stock as I can lol
How easy is the adapter to open so a firmware update can be done to 3.0d ??
MLP WITH THE PRISON TV LETS GOOOOOOO
Does this affect input lag or should I stick to my crt tv for smash bros melee
im trying decide if i like the clear case monitor or not
Its a prison tv lol
Ain't gonna lie, I'm feeling that Prison TV. Could do some cool things with it; maybe even mod it with some sweet LED lights for use whilst it's off. Possibilities, man.
Cheap?
Well, it's not a $200 component cable.
So does it default to 480p the whole time?
480p by default but i believe you can choose different output settings using the gcvideo software.
@@ians_parks ok, thank you!
@@Ren722 No prob. Just dont go in expecting 720p or 1080p. Assuming your tv handles 480p correctly itll look really good with the progressive scan support.
@@ians_parks This has to be incredibly niche then. If it can't do 720P what TV would it be good for? TV's that accept 480P would have component hook ups so I'm not sure why you would need this. So if you hooked it up to a 1080P gaming monitor it wouldn't look good then?
@@8dragonquest Do some research on GC video, these devices are superior to Component now. Ingo Korb's work blew the doors off.
I have a "GC Video Plug and Play" HDMI adapter and it works great until I tried playing "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" and when the game loads to the game select screen, there noticeable vertical lines which become more obvious when there are effects like fog on the screen. Would it be possible to test POP: The Sands of Time on the Kaico and see if those bars exist? I tried the same game on my Wii with component cables, and those vertical lines aren't there.
That’s a side effect of having a higher video output. The GameCube uses dithering for some effects and that’s why you see those lines
What kind of tv is that? Never seen one with a clear case like that!
Its a prison tv lol
@@ians_parks guess that's why it's clear then! Either way still like the clear case though! Wouldnt store any shanks or weed in it though lol!
What brand is your tv?
Bro, why do you have a prison TV?
Cause I thought they looked neat and bought one off ebay for cheap lol. It has the original prisoners name and id number etched in the back lol.
@@Madlittlepixel But Prison TV's don't have any speakers. 🤦♂️
@@TooFurious4 oh some actually do. I just bought this one cause it was cheaper since it didnt have speakers. They make this same exact model with speakers but costs a lot more. Models without speakers have headphone jacks
mine just broke after 3 weeks. The soldering inside is at fault...You can hear that pins have lifted. Really poor. When it worked it was amazing. But it's badly put together
That sucks, I haven't heard many have an issue... Maybe isolated or just hasn't happened to many yet.
How does it work with 4:3 games? Does it stretch them to 16:9 or can it be configured?
Pretty sure its 4:3 by default. There's GCvideo settings to allow 16:9 but ive never gotten it work. Might be related to homebrew software like swiss which has options to force widescreen in games that dont support it.
Edit: for clarification i use a Carby, this device just looks like a cheap clone that uses the same GCvideo software so id imagine the settings are identical.
Hey!
I was wondering if I could set the game cube up to a projector but have the projector and game cube behind me so the screen would be in front? Would this be possible with wireless controllers to work??
Sure
"cheap"
Looks up price
"£55"
That’s pretty cheap considering the alternatives
pay that or $300usd for component cables, $150usd for the EON, or $85usd for the Carby
Will the GC loader play physical disk back ups from the GC???
It doesn't matter. They are sold out pretty much everywhere on the internet.
Is it only 16:9, or can it output 4:3 also???
it's only 16:9 so i'd recommend changing the picture mode on your tv/monitor
my monitor supports auto switching aspect ratios making it easy for me to switch to this or my pc/xbox depending without having to manually change aspect ratio
Currently $75 on Amazon
Would this work to plug into a projector?
So its basically just 5$ less than the Carby. Not sure now what to think.
Play is safe and get a carby
@@ians_parks Yea after putting in some thought for a few minutes after I last posted. I trust them more especially since The component Cables they made are of excellent quality. I'm more convinced at getting the HDMI Adapter with the remote but I'm just waiting for them to restock on the Black version to go with the look of my Gamecube.
@@ians_parks I cant seem to find any Carby in EU for less than 100$ though, even on ebay, Kaico sells for ~67€ on Amazon shipping included, I was looking for a Carby since people say it's only 5$ more but maybe it's just for the US?
@@infographyst I couldnt tell you. Im from the U.S.
I have s video cables for the GC and a retrotink 2x pro, do i even need this? Waiting for my GC to get here to test it out
Get a Carby. Great upgrade over svideo. Progressive scan is leagues better than interlaced.
@@ians_parks i saw somewhere that retrotink 2x pro already outputs progressive scan tho? Or am i wrong lol thanks for the help
@@phillherup The retrotink2x doesnt accept 480p progressive scan signals. Even if it did you would still need the expensive gamecube component cables in order to get progressive scan out of your gamecube. Otherwise itll just be 480i passthrough or 480i bob deinterlaced on the retrotink2x.
The retrotink2x is a great device but is best used with consoles prior to the gamecube. Basically any pre 480p consoles.
Yes it should be an upgrade.
But can it run crisis
GCHD vs Carby vs Kaico side by side comparison
They should all look identical. They all use the gc video open source software. Eon is overpriced, kaico is scummy, with carby you're golden.
It ain’t cheap I can tell you that
How's it work with the Game Boy Player?
You just need the proper software for the Swiss program. Boot disc not even needed.
Was there an option for adjusting aspect ratio?
It should be 4:3 by default. His tv must be set to widescreen
What’s better, this or the Rad 2X?
The rad2x is best used with pre gamecube consoles. For gamecube you want a device that supports the GCVideo software so that can get progressive scan out of the games that support it. Personally i recommend the Carby hdmi adapter by insurrection industries, kaico is sketchy.
Ian Cowell Thanks dude, sounds like sound advice.
I recently bought a Nintendo Rad2X for my UK PAL N64 and GameCube, haven’t tried it yet......hope it’s ok?! 😖 (wasn’t cheap😩😂)
Any links to UK sellers of the Carby?! Just looked on Amazon and can’t find it 😖
HI i Envy You, i wish i had that exact gamecube set up have. if i imported to the uk it would be closer too $100 with import tax
Mr B it’s on Amazon Uk ;)
@@kaicointernational8133 ok thanks
It works a few times and then it quits and then you can’t get your money back.
