Congrats to @pamelahall3699 , @juliataylor8065 and @janetknappier2968 for winning a Christmas card! Unfortunately, there has been a bit of a set back. Our Canadian postal service is currently on strike. I did not know this would happen before I filmed. Please send your mailing address to emma_jane232@hotmail.com and I will get your card mailed as soon as the strike is over! So sorry about that! Hope it can be resolved before Christmas! Congrats again! ❤ Emma
I have a small child so we're building traditions with him, but we like to limit gifts to "something you want, something you need, something to share and something to read". It helps keep gifts in perspective and the focus on the real joy of christmas - spending time with family
Because we live far apart from each other so cannot always be together, the ladies of our family all light a candle at the same time ( 4pm) on Christmas eve, just to bring that energy of love. If there are different time zones, that is accounted for. Living in France, UK or Spain, we adjust 🕯️
FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANTASTIC idea. I love it. Have many friends all over the world. Spain, South Africa, Australia, Ireland, England. Will try to do this.
As matriarch, everyone meets at my house for Christmas eve, games, cocoa bar, treats and gifts. But most important and my grandchildren look forward to it, i read the Christmas story from the old family bible, and prayer together before gifts.
We did this when my daughter was young... we would pick one night during the Christmas season to "camp out" and sleep under our Christmas tree. We'd watch a fun Christmas movie and then read a few books before falling asleep. I have precious memories of us doing this Christmas tradition. :)
❤Back in the late 60s, we baked sugar cookies and gingerbread cookies using a variety of cookie cutters, decorated them with colored icings and sugars, strung curling ribbon through holes pierced in raw dough prior to baking and hung them on our Christmas tree for decorations. ❤
Emma. Love all your blazing talent!! For the past few years I’ve watercolored scenes of Christmas for our cards. On the road to Bethlehem, the Angel appearing to the Shepherds, the birthday of Christ, the Wisemen, this year is the flight into Egypt. Remembering that Jesus and his family were refugees. He came so He could be our refuge. Wishing you and your family blessings.
Favorite holiday tradition is decorating the tree, with family on Christmas Eve. When a child Santa decorated our tree....kept the kids out of the fragile ornaments at the time. My sister continues that tradition today!
The simplicity of the designs makes me believe I can do this! I can hardly wait to get to my craft room and give them a try. Simple but absolutely beautiful!
Love this tutorial! Can use these for gift tags, too! A couple of years ago, I started a tradition of making ornaments to add to the tree each year. First year, I made felt ornaments, last year I made and painted clay ornaments, and this year, I'm painting baubles.. they've made the christmas tree more special each year 😄
Our family tradition is to make a day of getting our Christmas tree! We have been going to the same Christmas farm for over 30 years and we bring our truck and look for those largest tree we can find, sometimes it barely fits in the truck, and then we bring it home and in joy cider and goodies and relax and put up the Christmas tree, I just love it.🧑🎄🌲
One of our favorite traditions is watching the Muppet Christmas Carol. Drives one of our kids absolutely nuts because we sing along to the songs and often we are repeating all the lines too😂😂 We have been watching this now for thirty years. Thanks for the cute card tutorial!
Thanks for the tutorial! I will be making these today. My favorite Christmases were when I was a young adult and my parents and siblings were all still alive and everybody in my huge family would go to midnight mass and then come home, open gifts, and eat and party until dawn. I miss those days and my family who have passed so much.
When I was still living at home with my mom, we used to go to a Christmas Eve service at a Moravian church where they served a “Lovefeast” of coffee and a bun during the service. I loved that, but I especially loved singing Silent Night in the darkened sanctuary, lit only by the flames of candles held by each person there. So incredibly touching and beautiful.
My holiday traditions is going to church with family and friends on Christmas Eve then coming back home and having a light snack of meat pies with pickles and cheese. The good old days Love watching your videos Emma ❤
These are lovely!!! I really love the snowflake - beautiful and such a different idea!!! I painted all my cards last year - first time for that and it seemed to take forever. This will be my choice for cards this year and I see that it will be much easier!!!! Oh Joy! Thank you for sharing!!!
When the turkey comes out of the oven we all have some crispy bacon from the top even the dog! It’s hot in Australia but we stick to traditions but we’re eating it in little more than our swimwear. Love the cards don’t expect you to send them here, and the watercolours are coming out this afternoon! Thank you.
When my daughters were young, we loved decorating the tree together while playing Christmas carols and singing along. We opened our gifts one at a time so each seemed more special. And let’s not forget rewatching our favorite movies every year!
These are so simple and yet so elegant! I love them! Our fav holiday tradition is telling stories and hanging out Xmas eve with each other in front of the fireplace.
I'm loving your videos AND your paint brushes. One of my Fav holiday traditions is making my Mom's Christmas cake recipe with my sister and niece. It's a wonderful way to remember my Mom.
Favorite holiday tradition is to watch all the Christmas movies grew up with. On Christmas morning, we ALWAYS make crepes for breakfast after we open stockings but before we open presents. This is a recipe that has been passed down from several generations
Love this tutorial, Emma 🥰 One of my favorite Christmas traditions is to bundle up the family and drive through neighborhoods looking at all the lovely light displays 🎄 I have fond memories of doing this with my parents when I was a little girl 🥰
Omg love it! Must be thinking the same thing because I’m prepping to teach a watercolor cards workshop and include the taping method for trees, but instead we’re painting in lines 🤩.
Love your beautiful work Emma! Our favourite tradition is the trimming of our tree and singing carols, and then having all our family around our lunch table on Christmas Day! Also watching the kids opening their gifts on Christmas Day… as we celebrate the birth of our lord and saviour Jesus. It’s those moments we cherish … especially as the kids are getting older now…❤
Can’t wait to try these! The grown ups in our family enjoy the gift exchange where you can choose a new one from the table or take one from someone that has already been opened. The kids love watching us go through the opening and taking!
So beautiful. One of our Holiday traditions was new jammies for the kids so when they opened their presents they looked great. Also a book on Christmas Eve so they had a new bedtime story.
One of my favorite holiday traditions is lighting a red candle for family who cannot be with us. They may be in the military service, snowbound, housebound, or passed away. ❤🎄❤
Our family tradition is Christmas Eve, everyone opens their gift of new, washed pyjamas (adults, too!), then we all sit around and have a fondue/racklette! We started this with our girls when oldest was 10 weeks old. I had an emergency c section, and couldn’t really travel. So I surprised husband with a fondue for that Christmas Eve. (She is now 41!) And now we do it with grandkids every year and they love it! We haven’t missed a single year. It’s a nice thing to do together, lots of fun. And everyone enjoys helping prep all the dips, veggies, etc. Christmas morning is stocking time, opening gifts, followed by my husband’s famous breakfast. When that is cleaned up, I prep the turkey and get it in the oven. While that is cooking, everyone plays with their new toys, we usually have a couple of new boardgames, and since the day starts so early, there may be a new movie to watch to rest until turkey os ready. Then outside to play for a bit (weather dependent of course!), followed by hot chocolate, then a charcuterie board to snack on. Then bedtime, with everyone tired, happy and relaxed. I wish everyone a safe and wonderful Christmas, holiday season.
One of my favorite family traditions is all piling into a vehicle, going through Tim Hortons and getting our hot drinks of choice, playing Christmas music and driving around local neighborhoods to look at the Christmas lights. Everyone enjoying the magic of the season. xx
Thanks for another great tutorial. Can’t wAit to get my advent calendar. My family tradition is to wake up have a nice simple brunch then open presents. Now that the children are older It’s nice to watch each person open their gift and see their reaction.
A family tradition: On Christmas Eve, our adult children, my husband, and I sit together and play games - card games, silly games, trivia games. We're not on our phones, it's engaging, and it opens conversations. Thank you for breaking down your tutorials into skills!
Love these cards! So simple and elegant. Our tradition is to have Christmas Eve dinner at our house with our daughter and her family. We exchange some gifts. Then Christmas morning, my husband and I go to their house, next door, and watch the kids open gifts. The rest of the day we watch movies and play games and then another feast for dinner.
Love the gift exchange since kids days. And now it continues for my kids with her cousins. Though we dont really believe in santa here. But the smiles and happiness of the kids when they opened the unknown gift is such a delight. Great for the cousins to know each other and bond too. Love it.
Our family tradition is we gather either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day and we have an amazing turkey dinner and then open presents. This also includes sleepovers. ❤
Thanks for the great lesson!! The cards are lovely ❤. We are old enough that our adult children come help set up and decorate the tree and house. We make dinner & have Christmas movies on.
Our gathering is formed around family time. We gather, planning our meals and activities to share together. The church is also our gathering place, with both families and friends (who become as family!) Lots of thanksgiving and laughter.
Lovely. Our favorite tradition is to go to the Missouri Repatory theater for a live production of A Christmas Carol. They have been doing it for over 30 years at the university UMKC where I studied classical piano.
Every year I create something different for each member of the family as a place setting. This year, I will use these to show each and everyone where they will sit. They will LOVE them xx
Love your cards and look forward to trying to make my own. Favorite tradition is when the children would wake up and go downstairs to see if Santa had visited. I would put cinnamon rolls in the oven and have hot cocoa. Opening presents one at a time and enjoying the time together. Thank you for sharing your gifts.
These are lovely cards that I hope to recreate myself. Thanks for this great tutorial and teaching skills! My latest Christmas tradition is driving through our neighborhood to see the different painted signs showing our neighborhood mascot, the ostrich, reflecting the homeowner’s hobby or original hometown, all in a fun cartoon-fashion. A local artist does them but I did a take on my roommate’s SCUBA passion that came out okay. 😅
When my father was alive, we would listen to Johny Mathis Christmas music with the tree lit and the lights off. I carry on this tradition with my family.
These are beautiful, thanks for your inspiring video and Merry Christmas to you and your family! Our tradition is to trim the tree and then take a picture of my hubbie peaking out around from the back! for 45 years now we've tried to continue this tradition!
Love reading everyone's traditions. We love bringing the family together to decorate the tree, drink mulled wine and play Christmas music from the renaissance period. Precious memories indeed
Hi Emma! I love to watch you paint, I'm a beginner and you really help me with ideas. Christmas tradition: Having family dinner then going for a drive to see all the lights and Christmas displays around town.
I look forward to trying this we started doing advent as it is just hubby and me this is the third year we just do little inexpensive things that some are funny some are needed some just fun that we open each day. For example I found a pen set at a thrift store each pen different colors this is in one of my bags I had forgotten and looked for hours for this set I knew I got in the end I remembered it went in a bag....got to love fibromyalgia I can't remember what is in the bags so a surprise to me and I packed them
So lovely! I haven't started to paint yet, but I did buy a watercolor set...now to get over the fear factor! My favorite Holiday activity with the grandchildren is decorating Christmas cookies. A recipe my mother made. It's over 60 yrs old now!
Those cards are beautiful! I love when traditions are passed down from generation to generation. We always and only ate Rice Crispies on Christmas morning. A Christmas I remember was the first Christmas my husband spent with our family. My brother-in-law, sitting across the table telling my husband, they only eat these on Christmas Day you know. My husband asking him, why? Some traditions don’t need explanation, they simply add to the occasion and make it special. 🎄
Holiday tradition: we always have a kind of scavenger hunt for our 10 year old granddaughter. We hide her presents all around the house, then take photos of the places we hid them without showing the actual gift. So it’s a fun challenge for her to figure out where to look, depending on the surroundings in the pictures, like carpet, furniture, her Barbie house, etc. she absolutely loves doing it and is so good at it now, she astounds us every year. We have also done the same thing with notes/clues sending her all over the house, upstairs, downstairs to find the gifts. We also do it in May when it’s her birthday. She really gets excited and challenged. ❤
Beautiful cards Emma My favourite family tradition is giving the dogs a Christmas dinner with us and when I had my horse I would make the stable horses as well a little goodie bag of Christmas treats and suprise the owners as well 😊
Beautiful! My favourite holiday tradition was the traditional Polish Christmas Eve meal, the gathering of friends at our home AFTER midnight mass and carolling!
I just discovered your channel. This is the third video I have watched. You explain so well. I am inspired to try my own cards. My daughter and I like making Christmas ornaments and other crafted gifts to give at Christmas. My mother did this with me and I am so pleased to have passed it along to her.
Our family tradition is to gather at our house with some of our family members on Christmas Eve. My husband and I usually host, preparing a Thanksgiving-style dinner, playing games, and opening a few gifts before Santa arrives at midnight. With our two kids being the only grandkids, it’s become such a special tradition for them to have family staying overnight to celebrate the magic of Christmas together.
Love your channel! Such beautiful creations. We love to create a theme each year and decorate around that theme. One year was patriotic, one was all white, one was Singapore, and another was purple.
Each year since my children were born, they receive an ornament that represents an important event/memory/milestone from that year. They have to find it hidden somewhere on the tree. It’s wonderful to have a tree full of memories we can reminisce about as we decorate the tree!🎄Thank you for sharing your talent and Merry Christmas!
Congrats! You’re the winner of one of the cards! ❤ Emma
Christmas cookies are a favorite family time activity at our home. Of course my husband and son are the official quality control experts. We keep things simple with hot coco, fresh baked Christmas cookies, and Christmas music. Being together is the most important part of our holidays. I hope you and your family enjoy this time together. Hugs.
Absolutely gorgeous 😍 Our favorite holiday tradition: we go around to mum and dads on Christmas morning and have a quiet champagne breakfast together to start the day off right. My fav part of the day too 😂
Thank you so much for these beautiful Christmas designs. I will try my hand at one or more soon. Our family gathers at our daughter and son-in-law’s home Christmas Eve when they prepare the traditional Seven Fishes dinner. We all gather around the table enjoying family and good food and reminisce about years gone by. Being in my mid-80’s and new to watercolors, I always seem to find more stories about which to reminisce. Carol
Loved these cards, definitely going to try them. My holiday tradition is to have some of the neighbors and friends in on Christmas Eve. This tradition started 40 yrs ago when I couldn't go home for Christmas. I invited the neighbors and friends who where alone or like me couldn't get home for Christmas. For some people this is something they now count on at Christmas. Helps them feel less alone and more like have a family.
My favorite tradition is putting the tree up Thanksgiving night. This year everyone is working. When they get home the lights will be on waiting. Happy Holidays
Lovely cards! So elegant and yet simple. I will try these since you did such a great tutorial. Thank you. Favorite holiday tradition was decorating the tree each year in a different theme. ⚾️
Thank you Emma for sharing your talents! Favourite tradition: Christmas Eve service followed by family gathering together to bring in Christmas: making new memories and remembering old ones ❤
My favorite tradition is driving around to look at Christmas lights and getting hot cocoa afterward. I also love our matching Christmas pjs ( started doing a couple of years ago when we had our own kids).
Thank you for the art and everyone else for the shared memories. Every year I think of the saying from a Hallmark card - Anticipation’s best followed by remembering. As a child, I loved sitting by the tree watching the bubble lights. Now at 70, I love to watch my battery operated glitter diorama. Wishing you and everyone all the colors, music, scents and love of the season.
Love the simple elegance of your designs! Each year our children brought home handmade ornaments, from school, art class or their babysitter etc. We saved all of these and each year they loved decorating the tree with their special ornaments. My children are grown now and I just have a small tree so I've passed their ornaments on to them so their memories will live on.
I give each child and grandchild a Christmas ornament on thanksgiving for their tree. When they grow up and leave home they have some ornaments with memories for their new home.
My hubby is Puertorican and I love that we always do one holiday american style and one puertorican style. We trade off every year so this year Thanksgiving is American and Christmas Puertorican.
These are so charming. I am going to practice my foliage because you make it look so easy. My family loves to open all the presents at the same time so nobody actually sees what anyone received. Too crazy I know, but we love it.
When I was a little girl, we had Charlie the elf that would hide and watch to see who is naughty and nice. I am now 61 and Charlie the elf was old when I came along. He now belongs to my oldest child and visits their home at Christmas. I know there’s elf on the shelf now, but Charlie is like the OG of the elves! I love your channel. And thanks for the tutorial on the Christmas cards. It was just what I needed.❤
Our favorite tradition - when my children were small - Thanksgiving weekend we would head out for the perfect nutcracker!! My son and daughter each could pick one ( you can always find inexpensive nutcrackers) then we would stop pick up a sweet treat- cinnamon rolls are our favorite!! We would carry these home - watch the Nutcracker and start our Holiday season!! Precious fun memories made!!
You inspired me this year to paint Fall leaves. After painting them I attached to cards with foam tap and sent them to family and friends for Thanksgiving (big hit). Favorite Christmas tradition is opening one gift on Christmas Eve (usually PJs 😊) and Santa leaves an orange in each stocking (something from my childhood). Thanks for these Christmas card suggestions...going to give them a try and if they work for me I'll send them out. 💕
Our favourite tradtion is Christmas Eve with our adult children , making pizza, playing cards and opening our gifts. A cozy group of 6. Very relaxing before a busy Christmas Day.
This is a great tutorial Emma. Can't wait to try these out. Our family tradition is always centred around a beautiful table decorated with fresh evergreens, berries, candles, etc. while we enjoy a wonderful meal of fun, food and laughter with our 3 children - their spouses and our 3 grandchildren.
These are so adorable! When my kids were little (I have 4) we used to take them to the dollar store to buy gifts for their siblings and for Mom and Dad for Christmas. It was a way of getting them into the Spirit of giving and not just receiving. They really enjoyed shopping for their gifts. ❤🎄🎁
Congrats to @pamelahall3699 , @juliataylor8065 and @janetknappier2968 for winning a Christmas card!

What a perfect idea

One of our favorite holiday traditions is to watch White Christmas and sing along! We also make a Norwegian flat bread called lefse. Yum!
Love this tutorial! Can use these for gift tags, too! A couple of years ago, I started a tradition of making ornaments to add to the tree each year. THANK YOU 🎄

I love the snowflake card. A family tradition at our house is Christmas Eve church service after supper, then come home to eat dessert.
I’ve been watching you since 2020 and learn some. I am clearly not an artist and you are great! Love my memories of Xmas in Canada
Leaves and berries are beautiful the gold adds a touch of elegance, I love your cards and videos.

I love using foliage to fill in shapes or last year I wrote out words like joy and peace, then covered it in foliage. Thank you for the inspiration.
Clean & simple yet beautiful. I will be giving these a try. My favorite tradition is our family Christmas party on Christmas Eve.
These are fantastic and going to try to do these for my grown kids. So sophisticated and lovely
Our family tradition is we gather either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day and we have an amazing turkey dinner and then open presents. This also includes sleepovers. ❤

These are beautiful, thanks for your inspiring video and Merry Christmas to you and your family! Our tradition is to trim the tree and then take a picture of my hubbie peaking out around from the back! for 45 years now we've tried to continue this tradition!
Spending time with my grands every year. They visit from afar for one week at Christmas. I am so blessed.
Great inspiration. I love these and think I can manage to create my own from your tutorial. ❤
One of my favorite family traditions is making a birthday cake for Jesus. We did it every year when I was a kid.
Beautiful cards Emma
My favourite family tradition is giving the dogs a Christmas dinner with us and when I had my horse I would make the stable horses as well a little goodie bag of Christmas treats and suprise the owners as well 😊
❤ Emma
One of my favorite traditions is to watch 25 days of Christmas movies. Love making cards. Thank you Emma🌲
Enjoying Christmas with my two year old grandson. We will be learning the Christmas story and setting out a child’s nativity scene.
Christmas cookies are a favorite family time activity at our home. Of course my husband and son are the official quality control experts. We keep things simple with hot coco, fresh baked Christmas cookies, and Christmas music. Being together is the most important part of our holidays. I hope you and your family enjoy this time together. Hugs.
Absolutely gorgeous 😍
Our favorite holiday tradition: we go around to mum and dads on Christmas morning and have a quiet champagne breakfast together to start the day off right.
Carol
It amazes me how easy you make it look to paint those! Really beautiful.
So pretty, tradition , singing Christmas Eve as children.
Absolutely beautiful and simple……we love to make homemade decorations every year❤️🎄
These are so charming. I am going to practice my foliage because you make it look so easy. My family loves to open all the presents at the same time so nobody actually sees what anyone received. Too crazy I know, but we love it.
My fave is the snowflake! So clever to use greenery to creat the snowflake!
Our family tradition is always centred around a beautiful table decorated with fresh evergreens, berries, candles, etc. while we enjoy a wonderful meal of fun, food and laughter with our 3 children - their spouses and our 3 grandchildren.
you have helped me since 2020 isolation.. you helped me get thru isolation and I now have the joy of painting .. thank you
These are so adorable! When my kids were little (I have 4) we used to take them to the dollar store to buy gifts for their siblings and for Mom and Dad for Christmas. It was a way of getting them into the Spirit of giving and not just receiving. They really enjoyed shopping for their gifts. ❤🎄🎁
I love all three designs. They're prettier than most of what I see in stores. Beautiful!
