Ohh, thank you so much! I love that I can inspire.... I guess you could use whatever stamps and colors, and get the "feel" you want. I was thinking of autumn colors and this technique....I think that could look sooo good.... Hugs, E
At first I thought I was looking at the most beautiful patterned paper and I knew I had to have it! But then to watch you create it was just amazing! Thank you so much!
beautiful cards, Elisabeth! TFS. They look fairly straightforward for a watercolorist who already has all the supplies, and your explanation & demo should make them easy to batch. Thanks again! I sub'd & look forward to the rest of the series!
Thank you for your feedback and lovely comments. So happy I can inspire you to do this. It's easy and very effectful, I think. Thank you for subscribing and welcome to DelBello's YT channel...hope to see you next time... hugs, Elisabeth
Hi there... it is all in the hand and grip of the brush...If you want to paint loose and free, try to fill the brush with colors only on the tip, and just touch the paper. It's also very important that the paper is wet enough... I promise you, this technique has no right or wrong.... much love, Elisabeth
Thank you so much...please, give it a go! It's so fun to make a "loose", messy background! The most important thing is to have the paper wet enough so the colors can run freely.... much love, E
These really ARE gorgeous! The colour combos and techniques are stunning! Thank you so much for this tutorial! New subbie here! Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
Ohhh, thank you so much for your uplifting words! I do love that I can inspire. You could use colors in blues and some green, and paint the berries white instead of red, and it would be a more wintery piece and not christmassy...love, Elisabeth
Thank you so much.... and yes, please, try it... I promise, it is easy. Just be sure you wet the paper enough for the colors to "flow".... hugs, Elisabeth
Thank you so much Elizabeth, I really really enjoyed watching you create this beautiful and uniquely crafted panel for your cards. It’s totally amazing and so inspiring too. I absolutely love ❤❤❤❤❤ and adore this technique and I’m looking forward to Thursday too. It doesn’t matter if the panels are different sizes, these panels are handmade therefore they should be imperfect. I wouldn’t want to send these out they’re just too beautiful. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much, Mags for all your wonderful words and feedback. Hehehe, I was supposed to split the panel in two long strips 5,25cm wide each, but somehow I got it wrong.... but as you said, it doesn't really matter...So happy I can inspire, and I hope you'll give it a go.... love and hugs, Elisabeth
Love this video! Have subscribed. I’ve already done my painted Xmas cards for this year. All were Xmas trees. But this will be my idea for next year. Thank you for sharing. Love from England 😍😍🥰🥰👏🏼👏🏼🇬🇧🐶🐶
So happy that you've subscribed, and thank you for your lovely comments...You could do this with other colors aswell... like blues with a little purple and greens, the berries could be white, and presto! you have a wintery panel instead of a christmassy one.... lots of love, lisabeth
Thank you so much... I do love to make wintery scenes and pieces...these are a bit more "festive" maybe, but so fun to batchmake...so happy you enjoyed it...hugs, Elisabeth
These cards are stunning. Thank you so much for sharing how you go about creating this lovely look. I think I can try and do it now that I watched the video. Best Wishes!
So, so beautiful. You make it look easy but I’ve tried watercolor before and I know it isn’t easy. The looser it is the harder it is to do. You are a genius.
Ohh, thank you so much for your lovely words. Yes, watercolors can be a little bit tricky sometimes... You kinda need to "crack the code",- I mean when you suddenly know how the colors move with the water and what to do accordingly, if that makes any sense? You just have to keep trying... I little tip: when you think your paper is wet enough, do another layer, wait for a minute or so, and do one more layer of water. This makes the paper wet all the way through, and you can work wet-on-wet for a much longer time. "pin" the paper down with water like I do in this video, so it doesnt warp as much... You do need like 300gms paper, but do coldpress paper. It is usually cheaper. And one more tip: don't throw anything away. Leave it and come back to it at a later point and you'll find that you can salvage it! HUgs and love, Elisabeth
Just absolutely adore these cards!❤❤ thank you so much for sharing this wonderful technique. I will definitely try it as I love watercolours. Would even work throughout the year for other cards with different colour themes. Wishing you a very happy Christmas.🎄
Thank you so much for your lovely feed back and kind words... Yes, these stamps are very verfstile, and I use them a lot, all through the year. An autmn card with yellow, green, orange and red would be soooo gorgeous, I think.... hugs, Elisabeth
Spectacular. I think these are the most beautiful panels I have ever seen. I wonder if you think that this is something a person with no experience of painting, except a wall in my bedroom, could achieve? Is it too hard for a complete beginner? I guess the worst that could happen is I buy some products, use them, hate it and throw it away, hahaha! In any event I wanted to tell you how gorgeous they are and I will give it a try. Thank you for the inspiration.
Ohh Deborah thank you so much for your kind words and feedback! I would love you to give it a go, and I promise, the panel is easy to achieve. Just a few tips: 1. be sure the watercolor paper is very wet before you start adding the watercolors. 2. when adding several colors, be sure to tilt the paper instead off using the brush. When using the brush, the colors tend to get a bit muddy. I'm thinking of when you add some red to the green...If you follow the steps, you'll get a beautiful panel, I promise... please, post your make on DelBello's fb page(s) when finished. I would LOVE to see it... if you wonder about anything, please pm me and I will answer you as soon as possible...much love, Elisabeth
@@DelBellosDesigns Thank you so much for your speedy reply. I am going to order the supplies and I will definitely share if I manage to make anything decent. I am subscribing.
These are beautiful. Before I even watched most of the video, I checked my stamps, then went to Del Bello's and ordered these 2 stamps (and 7 others!). Thank you for sharing.
Ohhh, soooo happy to inspire you on your art journey! Thank you for the lovely words and feedback.... These 2 stamps are so versatile, and I use them a lot in different scenes, all year round.... @@janepowell4739 Oh, I'm so sorry for that.... hopefully you'll get better soon. I'm happy, though that I can inspire you to give it a go. I wish you a peacefull Christmas with your loved ones... much love, Elisabeth
Just love how it turns out! Can you please tell me the name of water card the link takes me to lavinia water card I already have that but it isn't as textured as what your card seems? Happy Christmas card making xx
Thank you so much.... This paper I bought from a store here in Norway, sorry about that. But you can find the same at Vaessen Creative. The paper is Vaessen Florence texture. These are affordable papers. You could of course use Lavinias paper and get a beautiful piece aswell..... A little tip: make sure your paper is very wet so the colors can flow freely.... Hope this helps.... love and hugs, Elisabeth
Thank you for your lovely words! So appretiate your feedback! The watercolors I've used on this piece is Winsor & Newton tubes, and the red color is called Madder Lake. The color Alizarin Crimson is equivalent. It's a brilliant ruby-red color and exellent to mix with Ultramarine to get the most devine purple. (you can see that in my other tutorial "Batchmaking last minute christmas fun no.2") ... hope this helps. If you wonder about anything, please pm me... hugs, Elisabeth
You are a true inspiration, I am spinning off ideas on doing these with other seasons, something fairy like would be lovely.
