My present car is a 2001 Opel Astra, which I bought for £300 6 years ago and which has been incredibly reliable. The 1.6 litre engine still growls like new, and I've done 60,000 miles in it. Yes, I do around 10,000 miles per annum. Only had one major interior thing go wrong - it needed a new water pump last year. Otherwise just the usual wear and tear - new exhaust bits, new tires, new windscreen wipers/motor, little nuts and bolts that get worn and need replacing for MOTs. Never anything too expensive. Thanks for the forecourt and showroom tour. Thanks for sharing your current stock. The problem you described on the quashqai at 24:30 was similar to a problem I had on my Audi 2.0 CAGA diesel. Hunted revs at idle. Turned out to be a fuel rail pressure sensor that needed changing. Appreciate this is a completely different brand but thought I’d pass on.
Enjoyed that. The most important thing I’ve learned from watching your videos, I think, is the importance of taking car of the little things. I bought my current car, a 2012 Audi S3, about 2.5 years ago. It came from a trusted source, only covered 49,000 miles, FSH. The day after I took it, it started misfiring and needed an injector. I was nervous for a while, but it’s been brilliant since. I’ve looked after it, aiming to carry out preventative maintenance regularly. I’ve changed the oil every 5000, full services every other, serviced the gearbox and diff, changed the pick up pipe, changed plugs and coils etc. Soon will be timing belt/chain. However, I’ve never dealt with the head unit that won’t allow me to play CDs or use sat nav, never dealt with a tiny dent on the boot, and a tiny patch of rust near the rear o/s window, never dealt with the annoying scratchy wipers - well actually I did change the blades and I’ve never dealt with the drivers heated seat that doesn’t work, so when it’s cold, I have to drive from the passenger seat, which is annoying, especially if I have a passenger in the drivers seat. I love cars. Cheers Matt.
Excellent Video Matt - you have a fantastic range of stock and hopefully with your video your showroom and forecourt is now shared nationwide. I've always bought new cars but with your influence I'm starting to change my mind!
There is nothing dull about the insignia, It’s a great car, Great to drive, Good on fuel, Good performance and the interior is very nice, I would say the interior is better than VW these days.
Thank you Matt, another well-informed video, thanks for taking the time and trouble editing and uploading. When I was working (years ago), I was told by a US-based trainer that if stuff doesn't sell within your allotted time-frame, there are only three reasons for it - 1. Nobody wants your product. 2. Your advertising sucks. 3. Price. Unfortunately, you can only control two out of the three! You figure it out!
That Ford Ranger is literally my dream car 😍 but unfortunately being 24 and only having passed a year and a half ago, the insurance on that thing would end me 😂, some lovely cars there! My little Ford Fiesta is starting to rip my pockets open keeping her alive, sadly be time to see her go soon I think☹️!
Great and interesting video as always Matt. I recon you should get the forecourt/walls pressure washed mate. As a general punter that sort of thing can make a big difference and make everything look better.
Agree, a fresh coat of paint never goes a miss also! I'm guessing a lot of Matt's sales are generated online so it may seem a bit of a punt throwing money into the lot, I think he has touched on this in previous video iirc?
Hi Matt. You genuinely seem to take such care in preparing your cars for sale, and that’s really good to see. I live down on the Isle Of Wight, but would happily travel to buy a car off of someone like yourself.
Enjoyed every second of that! Nice to have a stroll into your garage. Really like the rare Lexus estate, watched the video on that one. The choice for a daily use car would be the Honda Jazz or VW UP! All the best of luck wished for the future Matt, you're a genuine nice person!
Great video as always Matt👍 I’m as confused as you are about that Fabia. I valeted and sold my brothers to a dealer back in the Summer (very similar to the one in your video) and it sold within 5 days.
@@Matt-go7ssyeah I suppose. The one I sold was just white with a contrasting black roof. Still, you’d expect someone to like a white fabia with a bit of a unique red stripe?

Funny enough, honest dealers aren’t that well seen, but the ones that sell bags of bolts at low prices are the ones that customers appreciate. It’s a sad world we are living in. All the best buddy, good luck selling your stock!
WOW Matt you really made me laugh at the end of this video! Went into detail about every car and then the final car (Nissan Juke) was ".....and one of those"! hahaha You and me have the same mind about those! 😂😂😂😂
You are always talking about "being inconspicuous". Why? What do you care what people think you look like when you are ENJOYING YOUR CAR? Life is short brother so, live the best "you life" you can...
Agreed, and life really is short. But sadly people are extremely judgemental and treat you differently depending on the car you drive, both on the road and when it's parked up. Speak from experience, unfortunately.
Nah I’d agree with him. As a young lad I probably wouldn’t have minded something a bit out there and eye catching. Now I want a nice motor that flies under the radar.
Loved the video. Maybe paint the outside of your showroom to bring in customers. A family friend repainted his cafe purple and his footfall went up 200% due to it standing out
Your more expensive cars aren't selling because you specialise in 'bread and butter' cars. People who want a higher value or specialist car tend to go to specialists if they can't afford or don't want a new car.
@@HighPeakAutos Yes, and for different reasons. I'm referring specifically to your higher value cars and have suggested a viable reason from my own experience and indeed common sense. It concerns me not one jot whether you sell the cars or not but it should concern you.

Matt i definitely think you should keep the A8 its Quattro too so you wouldn't be losing out in my opinion even if you sold the land rover. Also reliability would be better than the Range I'd imagine
Really enjoyed your garage tour today and I must say you do present your used care to a very high standard. Not always easy to please everyone with the stock you have but “somewhere” there is a buyer for every car. But in your car the buyers are not looking in you showroom . Good luck for your future sales (December is not the best month) in 2024.
It’s an amazing smorgasbord of stock. It shows….your caring side. 😂Towards that Golf. Your…love of a rare classic. That Lexus. Your optimism. I could mention a couple, but I choose not to. But above all, it shows how honest you are Matt. As do, the TH-cam ‘leads’. We all love your….uniqueness 😂
Hi. Just a suggestion with the Qashqai. Check for vacuum leaks. Use a smoke machine if you can access one. Check turbo plumbing through intercooler too.
Love the a8. Gotta feeling they're going to hit a few more branches on the way down from the top of the depreciation tree, given what premium cars are fetching at auction at the mo.
Followed your channel for quite a while most enjoyable......I find that you give a very good review on the cars you purchase..Nothing hidden upon what wants rectifying prior to selling.. 👍
White Qashqai Rev hunting issue…I had same on a Santa Fe and after getting lab tests done on diesel and oil, the garage replaced the entire fuel system from tank to injectors plus pipes etc at a £5.5k cost which was done under warranty thankfully!!
Unfortunately the market is DEAD at the moment. It's been overinflated for so long and it was inevitable we were going to head for a crash. Even Porsche Main dealers are discounting! If I was you Mat i'd shift what you can, thin the stock down and sit tight. Keep up the great content.
Great video matt and some lovely stock i wouldn't hesitate or haggle buying a car off you you always go the extra mile trying your best to have a car as good as it can be hats off to you matt why cant all car dealers be like you honest and fair 👍
I saw a video on an Audi doing the same thing as the Quashqui. It was the air intake seals (O-rings) 27:11 that were leaking air into the engine and the injectors increased fuel to make up for the additional air. That’s why it was idling faster
The world need more car dealers like High Peak Autos. Me personally, I would rather pay a bit more to get a well sorted car. Cheap cars are way too expensive to run. No matter what the make is.
With rgeards to the Quashquai, my father has a diesel NP300 which has a button which you press and it somehow heats up the engine on cold start by fluctuating the revs. That button had a short so every time you put it in neutral it would fluctuate the revs. Got that fixed and its well. It won't fluctuate when the car is in gear
It could be on the diesel (high pressure) pump "pressure control valve (fuel pressure regulator)" as it was on my old Scenic 1.9 dci. The same symptoms, it could get clogged (mine was over 15yrs 300k km old). My great mechanic got it over the phone in a second after heard about symptom. On the German web store was the half price of the Renault's, the same Bosch part now around 90 €.@@HighPeakAutos
Regading your Qashqai that's hunting. That's usually a sign of dpf starting to clog. Throw in some dpf cleaner and give it a highway run. Make sure it does a regen, that could be your issue. You can check the exhaust with your hand to see if its blocked too.
A bit of something for everyone there Matt, but just like every other dealer in the world, you could do with twice the space on the pitch! 😂 Would love to work for you though, it makes the job so much easier when every vehicle is prepped prior to going on display, rather than chasing your tail from deposit to delivery! 👌
Problem with the Qashqai with unsteady idle might be related with the fact that somebody accidentally poured petrol into the tank, instead of diesel and haven’t drained the tank properly.. I’ve had the same issue with my diesel Audi. I just used the whole tank completely, poured in premium diesel and one bottle of “anti grip+ diesel” and it solved the problem.
Great Garage tour Matt. I had an uncle who was a car mechanic, and when I was looking to buy my first car, one nugget I took from him was, if an independent car deal won't have it on their forecourt...then generally don't buy it. Then spent time just looking what were on the forecourts. Time well spent I think.
That low mileage Audi A3 struck a chord with me Matt, as I traded my 2015 low mileage (30k) Golf 1.4 Match in around 6 months back. Full service history, no kids, dogs or smoking. Clean as the proverbial whistle it was. It sat on the dealer's forecourt for Months, while other stuff around it sold no problem..... I think they eventually sent it to auction.....
It's quite strange about Audi A3. For the last few months I kept following what some dealerships are selling hoping to find something I'd want to have and all of them have the same Audi for so many months. No one wants to buy them and your video just showed the reality
I know it sounds really obvious but it’s just a big gamble isn’t it sometimes you’ll buy a car it’ll be gone in a couple of days then you’ve got that 500hp jag that you’ve had for a year! Thanks for showing us around!
Lovely to see our Lexus IS Sportcross Matt. We loved that car but bought a new UX and have an MR2 as you know so could not have 3 cars. Whoever buys it will love it

Many thanks for the tour. The cold weather was not your friend on this occasion. Your openness about what is and isn't selling is refreshing. Are you yet seeing ULEZ as a factor in the trade? More non-ULEZ cars coming through our reluctance by buyers to buy them? Cheers and stay warm.

You've got a good range of cars Matt
Thank you Matt, another well-informed video, thanks for taking the time and trouble editing and uploading. When I was working (years ago), I was told by a US-based trainer that if stuff doesn't sell within your allotted time-frame, there are only three reasons for it - 1. Nobody wants your product. 2. Your advertising sucks. 3. Price. Unfortunately, you can only control two out of the three! You figure it out!
The Panda looks mint. They are brilliant cars.
Matt, you come across a decent genuine guy. I hope you have success with your stock. Best wishes from Ireland 😊
Really enjoy your stock tours Matt. Some great motors in there too. I’ve spotted a few good ones.
Thanks 👍
Well done that man. Living the dream that most of us watching have. Nothing but best wishes.
Matt keeps himself busy all the time. A true professional.
Uphill runs in that Megane would be power-sappingly mundane. Not my words, the words of Top Gear magazine
...while overtaking National Express coaches can become a long, drawn-out affair.
With a mere ninety break-horse-power available, progress is too leisurely to be called fast
I knew someone else would remember it 😂😂😂
@@HighHoeKermit Not as long and drawn out as actually travelling on a National Express coach though....
@@Brian-om2hh I guess that must be true 😆
You don`t need any gimmicks Matt, Your honesty is your selling point. Have a merry Christmas.
Something different today Matt. Made my evening as always. Cheers 👍🏼
Glad to hear it!
Maybe it's the stripe? It is an odd one though.
Stripe makes it look like a boy racer car.
@@Matt-go7ssyeah I suppose. The one I sold was just white with a contrasting black roof. Still, you’d expect someone to like a white fabia with a bit of a unique red stripe?
The Evoque is on the Motor Insurance hit list
My wife's insurance went through the roof (no claims and 14 years NCD)
When I phoned insurance company they said she was lucky they had offered to renew the insurance
love these type of videos man, keep them up :)
Thanks, will do!
I would buy a car from him definitely!!! Probably the most honest car dealer in the UK 👍
Along with the treatment, you don’t want to become targets for car thieves. Just a headache overall. Sad reality of uk.
Nah I’d agree with him. As a young lad I probably wouldn’t have minded something a bit out there and eye catching. Now I want a nice motor that flies under the radar.
He's British. We don't like showing off, or vulgar displays of wealth.....some of us.
@@bindefuni5407so true. Sad. And very true
That’s not the case
@@HighPeakAutos If you are so sure, why haven't you resolved whatever the issue is and sold the cars?
@@resnonverba137 I sell my fair share of all kinds at all price points. Certain cars just stick. Theres nothing more to it than that
@@HighPeakAutos Yes, and for different reasons. I'm referring specifically to your higher value cars and have suggested a viable reason from my own experience and indeed common sense. It concerns me not one jot whether you sell the cars or not but it should concern you.
@@resnonverba137 I suppose with these videos I discuss the ones which I’ve had for a while which you can see. What you cannot see are the ones I’ve sold.
Love how honest you are, clearly OCD which is great thing to have as a seller, buyers know how you like things properly done, great vid as always 👍🏻
Interesting to see your stock again Matt, some really nice stuff👍
Not sure about Titanic reference opening up,,, more like intro to Porridge - HMP Slade 😂😂😂
Top vid👌👌👌
Thanks Matt. Have been watching for years now and at the risk of repeating myself, you are my "go to' on TH-cam. I have worked overseas for +20 years now but will retire to the UK soon and when I do I will be visiting you for my next motor, because you are the rair man in the business, an honest salesman who offers great service and are complete honesty in what you do. By the way, I am drooling over that A8 you just got in!
Wow, thanks!
I bought a Freelander 2 from this garage in September 22 , it’s a great car and I would buy another car from them in a heartbeat. I’m always checking their stock and I’m waiting for a nice Range Rover to come in stock especially the 4.4 V8 diesel
I really enjoy your videos, especially the garage tours. It’s got to be a pain moving all those cars around on such a small forecourt.
I believe it was Elvis on Wheeler Dealers. Check out the episode, it was an Audi R6 I think
Id love to see an aerial drone shot of how you get one of the cars out from the back ready for a viewing! One hell of a game of musical cars
Good to see the red golf gone now, hope the new owner is enjoying it seeing as it was literally prepped to be like new again
No intention of buying a motor but absolutely love your videos…
The world need more car dealers like High Peak Autos. Me personally, I would rather pay a bit more to get a well sorted car. Cheap cars are way too expensive to run. No matter what the make is.
Great Showroom Tour and Forecourt Tour Bud 👍👍Some lovely looking cars at a good price 👍👍Always a interesting and detailed watch 😀😀
I don’t think the Qashqai has that feature
It could be on the diesel (high pressure) pump "pressure control valve (fuel pressure regulator)" as it was on my old Scenic 1.9 dci. The same symptoms, it could get clogged (mine was over 15yrs 300k km old). My great mechanic got it over the phone in a second after heard about symptom. On the German web store was the half price of the Renault's, the same Bosch part now around 90 €.@@HighPeakAutos
You need go national. I love your way if explaining cars easily but with great knowledge.
Regading your Qashqai that's hunting. That's usually a sign of dpf starting to clog. Throw in some dpf cleaner and give it a highway run. Make sure it does a regen, that could be your issue. You can check the exhaust with your hand to see if its blocked too.
Ref the Quashquai with the surging idle - replace the SCV on the high pressure pump - this is always the cause and fairly well known.
Thanks for the walk around. Stop buying with your heart mate, you need mire bread n butter cars in the current climate. Wish you well with your stock.
Evoke, sat in one, seats tight. Must have been designed by Mrs Beckham. Definitely a wags car.
Love my MK6 GTI, its a great comfy and fast daily, I save my C63s for the weekends when the sun is out.
Mint little cars Pandas. My mum's had a few, cracking things.
Haarland always overspends massively Matt and he is the best in the business
Really enjoyed that. You seem so up front and thorough with all your cars which is reassuring.
I know it sounds really obvious but it’s just a big gamble isn’t it sometimes you’ll buy a car it’ll be gone in a couple of days then you’ve got that 500hp jag that you’ve had for a year! Thanks for showing us around!
Yes you’re right. It’s a big gamble
I thoroughly enjoyed this video . well done . mate.ive binge watched about a years worth love your presentation style brilliant stuff.
Lovely to see our Lexus IS Sportcross Matt. We loved that car but bought a new UX and have an MR2 as you know so could not have 3 cars. Whoever buys it will love it
It’s a lovely car. Had a test drive on it today actually
@@HighPeakAutos I still think you should keep it. There’s nothing as reliable from that era
For me the IS300 is one of the most tempting cars there.
Yes IS300 is my want
@@HighPeakAutosvery lucky person if they buy it
Here is the Suzuki Splash auto, full auto….and err one of those (Pan to the Juke) … well thanks for watching guys. 😂😂😂. Priceless is your love of the Juke Mat 😂😂
i noted that too....
Orange pick up and GTI my faves. Thank you for tour
5:47 I also have a vw touareg, silver and r-line, 245hp 3.0tdi. Thought the spec is much better in mine: leather seats, electronically adjustable seats, dynaudio, acc, air suspension and the list goes on. Fabulous car.
My Kia sunroof jammed it was the 2010 sportage loved that car bit of white Greece fixed it for five minutes
Would buy a car off you if was in the UK. Passion for cars comes out in your informed objectivity. Enjoy the channel.
Love your honesty and lovely variety of nice motors. Love the Canada Goose too 😂.
