Always report it. No, the police probably won't do anything, but it's important that it's at least added to the statistics to reflect how widespread this stuff is becoming
so that insurance companies have more data to back up why they're scamming the British public
And if there is a gang working, and other garage report it, they will do something. At least they may increase their patrols around the garage. You pay a lot in tax. You are as entitled to police support as anyone else. Always report crime.
Report it matt police will keep a record of it to help other victims
As you know blue people are oxygen thieves at times.. feel for you fella.. tad speechless for ya💯
Those same stats are also used to increase your insurance premiums!!
Dohhhhhh..........
Absolutely report it. This clearly isn’t the criminals first time and the police may recognise the car.
The car might be involved in other crime, so yes always report.
As a retired BMW Master Technician this breaks my heart. Those connections are just as easy to disconnect than cut off. The repair looms are a nightmare to order and not cheap. Then if you buy from EBay there is no guarantee it will program/encode without hassle. They obviously stole to order. The controller on these have feedback ‘feel’ unlike the lower specification they will be swapping with.
I really feel for you mate it’s hard enough these days to make an honest living. Good luck with everything.
Worst part is if buying on ebay, you may very well end up buying back your own stolen item
Do the infotainment systems have their own unique serial number?
@@simon.revillthe parts will but if you’ve not taken a record of it I don’t think you’d be able to get it out of the car.
There are cameras on every road, you should report it would take 10 minutes of policing to get the number plate, though they are busy jailing people for hurty words online. If they actually wanted to they could track the mobile phone against the cars locations
Issue I've found is the plates are usually stolen too and they have spares to change them. Well that's what happens here. Takes some cheek to do this to a car yard. Especially with all the cameras watching from every angle on the forecourt.
@@MikeG-rh1lk true 👍 Happy to sign a petition as and if required ( as I am sure most of the British motoring public would be ) if the police require any “ motivation/persuasion “‘ to do their jobs re this incident.
let the police know thats a must do. They already checked out another car on your forecourt they might come back.
Yes you should ... the chance are they have visited your site in the last few weeks to check out the car, to make sure it was the right one
They probably just saw it on his garage tour video.
Hi Matt sorry to see you been broken into unfortunately it is quite a common issue my advice is to report it to the police
Hopefully the use of ANpR and usual these nominals usually target a number of garages car etc per night they may be able to trace the vehicle used by the individuals who in no doubt will be a well known suspect and it may result in you been repatriated with the bmw interior parts that are missing 🤔
@@AWMJoeyjoejoe He needs a higher fence so they can't climb over it.
Like Matt said, every cars interior is on display on the website... they don't need to come out to check it out at all....
Higher and electrified is the way to go me thinks - plenty of voltage to get through gloves 🙃
As a business owner, I feel your pain! Would report to the police as often they are aware of the cars these bastards drive, and if they don’t find your gear they may stop it with someone else’s onboard.
I wouldn’t bother wasting your time unless you need it for insurance
Sorry for your loss Matt. There's arseholes everywhere. Your a hardworking honest guy. You don't deserve it. 👍
dude, he will make that lost money back just on the sponsor of this video and the ad revenue. what about the people that dont have a channel to claw back any loss by making a video about it?
@@denaco yeah your right, but still its wrong what some people do. And I agree about other unfortunate people. I've been one of them. Regards mick 👍
We all need to have insurance, and can never use it. Absolutely ridiculous isn’t it.
biggest scam there is also i knew someone who sold life insurance some of the thing's he told me about meeting targets shocked me 😮
FYI. I had this happen to my 2017 430i Xdrive. They ripped out everything including the sports steering wheel and the car didn't have any signs of break in either. Turns out that all the models that have keyless entry up until 2019ish? continiously send out a signal that can be copied/extended which allows the thieves to open your car + disabling the alarm without breaking in. First order of business should be keeping all the keys (in particular of this generation) in a box/case that blocks/case the signal (tons of these for sale on the web). This won't deter the most committed of carthieves as they will simply smash in the windows but it will deter some. Only way to deal with those is by locking the cars inside/in a garage, since this probably won't be the last time this happens to you. BMW's of this generation are extremely popular among car(parts)thieves so beware and take measures Matt. Best of luck!
Yes you do report!!!
If the police comes across individuals and or checks the properties they can link them to this crime and you can get your goods back.
I'm working in retail, and we were told by police to report every theft no mater how much the loss is, so they can bild the case on thief's
Serial number is what they love.
Sorry to hear about this - and yes should be reported so that when perpetrators are caught hopefully longer sentences imposed. - How did they get into the car and bypass alarms ?
I guess might be worth checking with high end video analysis / editing companies who specialise in forensics and see if your footage can be enhanced sufficiently to grab the plate details from the Golf - also perhaps worth investing in higher res CCTV cams ? Worth watching eBay and see if the parts appear ? - Good luck 🤞
Sorry to hear this Matt. Bloody scrotes! Yes report it, it'll give the police something to do other than arresting folk for hurty tweets and peacefully protesting. Stay well👌🏻
Monitored security cameras such as ADT. Cameras alone are too passive. Also consider anti-burglar paint that comes off on suspects. The railings are too low/easy to step over.
Absolutely report to the police. It could be part of a wider problem they’re already aware of
This ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️
Same advice I gave.
You'll have better luck getting justice if the guy writes something nasty on Twitter
BLOODY HATE ROBBERS MATT ! Good Luck with it getting fixed my Man !
We had a small engineering company and were burgled twice, the second time they smashed some windows, so we replaced them, but left the broken shards, just in case they came back, CID came back and told us to clear it up otherwise the burglars mighy sue us if they cut themselves!!!!!!!! Brilliant justice system.
The laws in this country are jokes!!!😢 How is that posibile to sue you if they come to steal and cut themselves (work accident 😂) unbelievable,!
If that would happen in my home country Romania and it happens that you catch the thief god have mercy for them 😅 but usually the can't walk anymore for few weeks and police wouldn't do nothing to you.but here you get in big trouble if you do something to the criminals, the laws are on their side,😡
Man, I feel for you. it's almost like I'm the one that got broken into I'm pissed.
Definitely report to the police Matt. It’s important they know that the thief is operating in area and opportunistic. Better they know than not don’t let him get away with it.
Absolutely relate to this mate, it happened to our garage (MOT station) a few weeks back and got away with 2 cars. Just opportunist lowlifes, but at some point they will get caught doing crime. The guys who got our cars got arrested but only bc one of them broke into a retail store a few days after. Edit: it's been our family business for over 30 years, the feeling of being burgled and the damage they cause is worse than the value of any car or car part - it's the invasion of personal property. We also know of others in the trade (SW UK) who've also been hit recently and had cars stolen, including high end stuff. Crime is on the rise, stay safe and extra cautious. Hope you're feeling ok pal.
if you find the reg make sure you do a car vertical check
Really sorry. Wishing you a better week
Hang in there Matt, don’t let these people ruin your day and keep up the great work.
You should report it to the police
They don’t do shit
it's about pretending the system works@@pearce9853
@@pearce9853Still important for crime stats in the area so they can apply for further funding in the future
They are only interested in Thought Crimes on Facebook.
Whats the point?
When its fixed, do not put it back on your lot. Keep it off site. If the thieves know you have repaired it, they'll be back for second helpings.
Was thinking same 🤬🤬
@@flippingcarsrepairs nothing that 240 volts couldnt fix😉
@@paulrobinson7881 You can't do that - you'll have a squad of Human Rights solicitors on your back, for invasion of the thief's right to steal! And, they'll be looking forward to the compensation, after all, he's a rich bloke - right!
@@paulrobinson7881 I remember when I was a teenager living in Cambridgeshire hearing about a guy who lived in a village not too far away who had a car that kept getting either broken into or vandalised (I think it was possible a Cosworth of some sort - it was at the time when they were crazy hard to insure and everyone wanted one). He was an engineer so he apparently devised a system that essentially made the shell of the car a live terminal so anyone touching it would then get a shock. It worked, but then he got in trouble with the Dibble because it injured someone (who was messing with the car with bad intentions). It may be an apocryphal story, but it's absolutely believable because lets face it, it would be the owner who gets in trouble, not the scrote on the rob.
@@paulrobinson7881 Factor that voltage by ten, then you don't have to worry about return visits.
Sorry to hear that Matt! I had a three ton digger stolen! They got caught by a neighbor loading it! So they tore off with out strapping it down! It fell off the trailer! Turned over there van! The digger fell on to an oncoming car! Nearly killed the guy in the car! And they just run off and left the guy in his crushed car! Just pure scum!
That's it, criminals, well most of them, aren't interested how much damage or injury they cause.
Sorry this has happened to you Matt, you're a decent, honest, hard working dealer. I'm a retired removal man who worked for a small family run business (not my family). I turned up for work at 7am one morning in the mid 90s to find that some toe rag had smashed one of the windows in my truck and stolen the fuse box. The knock on effect was that we had to hire a replacement vehicle, which then meant we were running over 2 hours late, so instead of finishing loading by around lunch time, it was mid afternoon. This also delayed the removal company who were moving into the property we were moving out of, so they charged waiting time which was passed on to us. What should have been a 10 or eleven hour day ended up at 17 hours. Hope you get it sorted quickly.
Matt, I've been in policing since 1981 and I hate the thieving idle, ne'erdowells as much now as I always did. Can't be bothered to work hard, steal someone else's property.
In all honesty, what's the chance of the police actually taking it seriously and doing anything other than giving it a crime number? ... Not a criticism or troll, Genuinely interested.
. Not just about that mate, the info could be useful in n other cases potentially with the same car past or future and the more info the police have a better chance of building a case. Yeah chances are Matt isn't gonna get his stuff back but if everyone didn't bother reporting their would be far more opportunists scrotes like that doing it more often.
Sadly we need to as the public do something about it. Been looking at adding extra security to my driveway and door and car when i get something expensive. Too many low lifes out there that its not specific on area. I just wish the government can invest more on police, number and departments.
42 years on the force? you've practically given your life to the protection of the citizens.
why aren't you commissioner?
@@Mickyfrench65 From a standard response bobby, not allot. But it will be fed into intelligence, and there may be an investigation at a higher level going on. This sort of criminality is normally linked to OCG's, and can be used to further build evidence for an eventual takedown operation.
A couple of Belgium shepards keep visitors from your yard, but if the still persist on entering will give the shepards hours of entertainment and plant time.
Yep. 👍
Got 4 of them prowling our property.
Really, any sort of mildly aggressive dog that will bark at strangers will do.
just use a shih tzu they bark at everything 🤣
It would be cruel to get dogs after all these days they think nothing of shooting or drugging them.
Electrified fence
Definitely ring the police. If the Golf has pinged an anpr camera anywhere near your garage, it's a simple collar. Pretty sure plod can refine their search to certain car types.
Good luck.
Ring the police 😂😢😂😅😂, that’s a good one .
@@antoniopalmero4063 They might have an online reporting system.
It will take 1.5 hours just to be in the queue by which point the line will cut off suddenly and you'd be in for another 2 hours.
You are so out of touch!
Agreed lol@@mariemccann5895
The government is too lenient on criminals. I work in retail, and theft has become a daily occurrence. The rule is that we can't stop thieves or touch them. Even if we report it, the police often do nothing. Sometimes we feel helpless, and shoplifters even mock colleagues. What's more worrying is that children under 18 have started shoplifting. They often come in groups and not only steal but also vandalize the store. I fear that when they grow up, they might start breaking into homes. If this issue isn't addressed, difficult times lie ahead.
I sold my high end vehicles and now drive a 2005 B5 Passat and now live care free. Driving a nice vehicle increasingly makes you feel like a target in London.
100% Report it - even if it just goes onto the crime stats. The police would probably be able to get a reg from your cctv but I’m not sure of they would be willing to view it.
Gutted for you mate. Hope your all OK and hope your able to claim for this . That is devastating
Always report to the Police Matt regardless of if anything gets done about it. Links can be made to do with that specific car and the individuals driving. Plus statistics boosted resulting in hopefully more investment toward tackling the problem.
Even when you get the dirty done on you Matt, you always have a positive attitude 👍
sorry for your loss Matt
I just hope that with the reach of your channel someone recognises that car.
Fit Ring camera systems. They let you know when someone is on your property. They are cheap to buy and give you live information.
dont buy cheap cameras , my son works for ADI branchies all over the uk , they have the best cameras on the market
Cheap cameras are more than capable.@@chazboyle9456
The irony would be if someone sells you/part exchanges a white golf and you find everything in the boot

That’s nice of you Dan
What a gent and what an offer
Do you own a gun?
Like this channel funny , honest and good content . Sorry this has happened to good people trying too make an honest living . Chin up Matt continue the good work .
Report it. There may be an ANPR camera in your area that would have caught the Golf driving to or from the area of your garage.
Definitely report it as that golf might already be known to police
You should report it to the rozzers!! They might know about the car!!
As a rozzer myself, the term rozzers kills me every single time I see it 😂
It's a Salford or Gorton special
BMW need to address this, as I’m familiar with info centre. If anything goes wrong with it invariably is not a quick fuse, it’s the whole thing. When you go on eBay you will be probably be buying it back
Matt with this video you are telling the thiefs - “Yeah, go for it, I wont do anything” . Call the cops and give them the video with the golf
Definitely report it, the golf will likely be on fake or cloned plates so don't worry too much about finding out the reg. I had a defender stolen a few years ago so I feel your pain!
It would be worth phoning the police as you know the make and colour of the car they will check local ampr cameras. Definitely need to up your security around your perimeter fencing. Nothing worse then thieves makes my piss boil
Yeah they won't be doing that, got assaulted at work, caught on 7 different cameras got a "not enough evidence" and a crime number 🥰

Live in London, had my disabled badge stolen on 3 different occasions. First theft they broke all 4 windows and vandalised the car. It was a Brand New (At the time) 2018 Toyota Verso. these criminals are bastards.
This country is turning into a hell hole! You work hard and this happens! Makes me sick! Keep your Chin up Matt

Report it online. You'll get a couple calls, maybe even a visit. They will take the footage if you got it. I say this as just this week some drunk guy decided to try my front door and then fell asleep on my gas meter box breaking it! I did report it online and it became a 'thing' for the police. So I imagine they would be interested in this. The police lady who came to visit said any crime can be a piece to the bigger puzzle (not like we have a serial gas meter box abuser on the prowl 😂) So with this being such a unique theft I think they would be interested. Anyway - love the channel, keep it up Sir!
Physical security. What we used to call a cocky watchman with an alsatian or two patrolling the area when you lock up.
Anything electronic seems to be able to get bypassed. Much more difficult to get past the Jaws of an alsatian than some of these electronic security measures.
Having been burgled and had cars broken into I feel for you, just trying to work hard and make a living and something like this occurs. One word...... WANKERS!
Hi Matt, Salvage Rebuilds UK use some very neat connectors for electric wire repairs, they are like small tubes with solder inside, you insert the cables you want to connect and apply heat with a heat gun, sorry for your loss!
Yeah the Police are way to busy solving serious online crime
As a cop, please report this. I genuinely understand your frustration as the chances of getting things back is slim to none, I’ll be honest. But you have very valuable information and possible leeds. Especially if this is a bigger issue in your area there may be multiple investigations running on similar MO’s, please always report everything. You never know to which other investigation, your information might be one of the missing puzzle pieces. It might help someone else who has been a victim or it might help catch a bad guy!
Helps build the local intel.
Have to do a police report, as police will be saying crime figures are down. Given that they probably scanned the car to unlock it, you need to check where key fobs are being kept to avoid passive scanning. Maybe as part of your renovation, it is time to increase the height of the fence.
Cameras and lights dont help, security guards and dogs do
Absolutely disgusting behaviour there, I used to own a 2015 4 series and I was always worried about if it will be there next morning or what will be taken as I hear on steering wheels getting taken, they are always a target unfortunately. This video also informs current owners.

Matt I’d recommend higher fences and sharper railings/barbed wire so they can’t just hop over the wall and into your forecourt
This collab was perfect!
Hi Matt, I hate thieves and burglars,Get several big loud guard dogs and increase the height of your fences !
Gutted to read this Matt, yes, I would report to the police. I see at 7:13 on the video, appears to be an Esso petrol station. I wonder if they may have useful CCTV?
I understand your frustration. And appreciate you sharing it with us.
So sorry to hear your news.
Always report to police. Is there any chance of zooming in on the Golf's reg?
As someone who works in insurance, its worth a go. They might be able to find footage elsewhere in the area to find the VRN.
@@Matt437 depends on how the footage was recorded. "zooming in" is usually just enlarging the video clip once it's captured and won't generally make things like reg plates clearer, just increases the size of the pixels so makes it really blocky and unreadable (i worked in IT for an insurance company for 15 years and got asked at least once a week by claims handlers to "enhance" CCTV or dashcam footage for them... er, nope! probably won't happen!)

A white golf. What a shock!
Put a Ring door bell camera in the most vunerable cars to alert you to any movement in the car..!
Or a Tapo TP-Link from Argos £20. They use AI and have 360 degree tracking of humans and really hi res cameras that work in colour at night with just a bit of streetlight or will do brilliant night vision… alerts on phone app or iPad , PC etc..
Their faces are covered though.
Check your CCTV from the last couple of weeks if possible I bet they have paid a visit during opening hours for a quick recce of stock and security, you never know something just might crop up like a white Golf parked nearby during the day.
Police will be too busy in camera vans to investigate
Sorry to hear about the break in Matt.. I know how you feel, it leaves you guttered
I'm sorry that yourself and all team have to experience such thing. This is one of those times when liking a video feels wrong....
Report it and get a K9 security unit on site .. It might save you a bit on insurance too.
Consider getting monitored CCTV. Can’t be more than £100 a month, sensors will trigger the camera and monitoring station will come on loud speaker. AMCO used do them at a reasonable price.
It doesn't stop them unfortunately, I know of a dealer with this type of system that had 2 cars cleared out in less than 3 minutes, police won't get there in 2 minutes to catch them in the act. They're dressed in black with their hoods up in the middle of the night, even with the floodlight blaring you can't see their faces on the CCTV footage.
K9 Security is the answer
Look at the police conviction rates for stuff like this... 99 out of 100 robbers don't get sentenced in the UK, you could have their face on camera and they are almost certainly going to get away with it

You need better cctv with colour night vision and person tracking, audio alarm with voice warning and better lighting.
You would be able to see what colour clothes they are wearing the camera would follow them and the taboo could sound with ‘you are being watched on cctv and the police have been notified’ or something. That audio would likely get them to leave as soon as they hopped over the fence.
