6:08 I have one of these flashlights too. It was supposed to be kept in the cab for the engineer from what I heard. Great collection! I have a shit ton of Conrail bilia, but except for the flashlight I don't have anything you have. I've got Conrail socks, safety glasses tinted and not, a metal first aid kid for the locomotive cab, maintenance department bump caps, a Couple of O scale safety award trains, a safety award jean jacket... And more! Fuck I love Conrail
You have a very cool collection of artifacts! While I mostly knew Conrail from model train catalogs as a kid, I can remember seeing some of their locomotives in the late 90s and early 00s before they were repainted.
Meanwhile, I've got a Conrail coffee mug that sees near-daily use (and is lovingly hand-washed), nearly 30 CR-marked HO locomotives of various makes and models (the 4 or 5 Atlas "Yellow Box"-era SD35s I have are built like absolute tanks), some rolling stock, and several books on Conrail's rosters, history, and operations . I'm not quite sure where to go next.
10:10 here's a fun thing you can do with old Tyco hoppers if you're patient with a flathead screwdriver: the Tyco hopper car body will fit over a Bachmann hopper car chassis that has chassis-mounted coupler boxes. Now my Conrail hopper has a Bachmann EOT device and trucks with roller bearings and metal wheels, haha. Have you considered adding MU hoses and a cab signal box to your Walthers GP9? I'm currently doing the same to my Walthers/P2k SD50s. Details West makes a good cab signal box out of pewter...but finding the right paint to match the Walthers factory paint is a challenge, lol.
I am attempting to do this with the Chessie System, I currently have an old Athearn GP35, a hopper of some sort, and a Train Handling Rules book (may be handy for future career interests)
Hey the logo thing at 5:00 would have been mid-late 70s as southern pacific quit using Cotton belt like a separate railroad and started using it like a subdivision, yet CB is on there
Good catch. That about the time the Going Places In Florida logo started showing up on equipment for the FEC as well. Being many of those lines didn't connect to CR, I'm guessing it's a partial list of lines that you could route cars off the network for.
My Grandfather Worked for the Philadelphia Division for Conrail from when they Started to when they got Bought out by NS and CSX, So it’s really nice to see all of these artifacts and I can’t wait to check out some of the scans of these documents to see if he’s maybe in one of them 🤘💙🤍
3:30 uh…. Almost every railroad under the sun had them. From my local tiny industrial steel mill switching road the Union Railroad outta Pittsburgh which ran its magazine from 1948-1958 (I’m friends with the guy who owns an issue of every year of that magazine and it’s amazing), Penn Central ran their own that actually had a relative of mine in it! And many _many_ more. (PRR’s The Pennsy, SOU The Ties, etc etc) It’s not a conrail thing. It’s relatively known. REALLY well known
I think it would be really goofy ahh to make a Lionel Conrail General lol, I would definitely watch a video on that, TH-camr Hobby time with Luke did it to a n scale 4-4-0

Nos and contain addiction

NYC and PRR thought it was good idea to merge and couldn't survive for even a decade.

Thats some pretty cool stuff, the only thing i have from conrail is actually from before it, the USRA's final system plan, dated 9/75
Maisto/Kid Connection On Track review next? Just an idea, those I think were the greatest push trains ever made for kids
I have 2 Conrail operating manuals that my model train club had acquired...somehow
11:45 where’s the Lionel Berkshire?
I know one person who worked for Conrail. My dad worked for them for a short time
the fact that its only all conrail
Technically not true. The real counterpart to my GP-10 model is an ex ICG and has only received Conrail markings from its current owner
Big question do like Conrail?
I only have a conrail sign and a HO scale athern sd70 standard cab and sd80mac, along with a few misc frieght cars lol. I should buy more stuff

Huh, literally never seen them before, searching for “railroad magazine” didn’t bring anything up, that’s probably why I cocked that up
11:37 Any locomotive? Even your Lionel general? Lol
Probably honestly. Quite the story behind the model
I think it would be really goofy ahh to make a Lionel Conrail General lol, I would definitely watch a video on that, TH-camr Hobby time with Luke did it to a n scale 4-4-0
Your collection ain't got nothin on me lol
I’d assume not lol. Considering the flashlight and models are the only things I actually bought myself lol
