Hi Roy. I was getting anxiety when you went through Nottingham centre. I hate walking through it at the best of times, never mind riding through it. Well done you two. Another great video. 👏🏻
Lovely colours and what a blue sky, could have been Mediterranean. I though we had escaped a Wendy song once the duck chorus had finished 😁. I know why I avoid city centre cycling with those unpredictable pedestrians ! Lovely scenery once in the country, thanks Roy.
@@johnpot7323 yes, I thought it was time as she’s now a regular feature. She can only ever be in brackets though, otherwise it would mess with the alliteration 😀
Another interesting ride and nice to see familiar streets of Nottingham! Had to smile when Wahoo got tucked away in your bag, I could still hear a few squeaks, though slightly muffled. When I call at a cafe, I remove my Wahoo / phone / gloves store them in my helmet. Occasional squeaks recently caused much concern as cafe staff thought their coffee machine was on the blink :)
😀😀I’ve since turned off the turn beep so it doesn’t go mad when I decide to go totally off route, but will never turn off the radar warning. I usually leave my lights on during a cafe stop but since having several people kindly let me know ‘your lights are on’ I shall turn them off in future 😀
@@RideWithRoy Experienced same issue leaving lights on so I turn off at cafe stops. Since the cafe coffee machine 'false alarm' (at Clumber Park Cafe), I used manual Pause (auto pause is enabled) at a cafe stop. However, forgot to press Resume on departure. Wahoo didn't log that part of the ride till I realised and activated Resume.
@@RBean47 yes, we normally do that but I had planned to cut across on the old railway to Cotgrave. It was only when we got to the path that we saw it was closed.
Nearly another bollard encounter at 08:48 I see. 😄 Thats the yodel alarm telling you it’s about to rise out of the ground! New widened path leaving Grantham? And no doubt yet more housing too …
@@greigs9384 yes, that’s new housing along there, which at least prompted upgrading of the shared path. We are also getting another 400 new homes in Barrowby, so only the A1 will separate us from Grantham
I've tried lots of gloves, some better and some not so good at keeping my hands warm. I've found the inner padding seems to get squashed and less warm after a couple of winters. Shared paths can be a nightmare. I'm quite happy slowing down as we pass by, but why oh why do dog owners leave the dog on such long leads? It's not the dogs it's the inconsiderate owners. Rant over! Thanks for the video.
I try not to rant about such irresponsible dog owners, Colin, otherwise I would be ranting all of the time 😀 and don’t start me on those walkers with their hearing shut off with headphones 🤯 On the subject of gloves, as I said, I do suffer cold hands even on a mild day. I haven’t tried the Arctic gloves on a cold day, but I suspect I still won’t make it through the winter with them. I have just had a meeting with John from Vulcan and he has given me some of his latest heated gloves to try. These are thinner than the original ones and use some NASA technology. I’ll be testing them on this weekend’s two day ride. The only downside is they are general purpose gloves so don’t have the gel pads that the unheated Arctic ones do.
@@b.griffin317 I use my Ribble CGR electric for the guided rides and these are fitted with Continental Contact Plus. I previously used Marathons but wasn’t confident with the grip after having an off. The Continentals are providing a good balance between grip and puncture resistance. On the Tempest gravel bike, the one I used on this one, I run with Schwalbe G1 Allround tubeless.
It was a waste of time. All I wanted to do was drop my phone off for a warranty repair but they wouldn’t accept it without the tech assistant receiving it - and she had just gone to lunch. Still, a good excuse for something different.

Life used to be so simple 😀
Bought all three gloves types from Luxebiking.....as yet not tried the arctic gloves, very comfy gloves.

You can by pass pot hole alley there a cycle bath on the main road then turn left for Radcliffe

It’s amazing how many pedestrians are not aware of their surroundings!
What tires are you using in this video?

@@RideWithRoy How are they off-road? I love my Contact Urbans but they are completely slick once I leave the pavement.
They are good on rough stuff but slippery on mud and wet grass.
I thought John Lewis was an odd destination for a bike ride. Now I see why!

We often get vouchers for free coffee and cake at John Lewis. Never thought of going on a bike though.
