An absolutely untouchable band, truly in a league of their own!
I was introduced to Moonsorrow when a buddy of mine gave me a copy of Verisäkeet way back in like 2006. I fell in love immediately, and while my tastes have evolved and shifted drastically over the years, Moonsorrow remains my favorite band bar none. Kivenkantaja is my personal favorite album of theirs. I find myself coming back to it as well as Verisäkeet and V: Hävitetty regularly. These three albums are still as fresh and exhilarating as the first time I heard them.

Moonsorrow is my absolute favorite Band, since i saw them first time in 2004❤.
Every album is great, every show is awesome - hail🍻
Still the bandmembers are all great - had some nice moments with them😂. And still remember: they still play together since the first album😮 - THAT IS AWESOME❤

Such a godly band. I don't know how they do it, but their riffs and melodies are not from this world.

Tämä ikuinen talvi is meaty enough to be included. After all it has more original new music than Tulimyrsky which is "only" the longest EP ever.

Then there's a close tie between Jumalten Aika, V: Hävitetty and Tulimyrsky.
Then Varjoina Kuljemme
And then the rest (the older albums)..
These four albums are S-tier; I need to listen to the others more because they didn't really grab me:
1. Viides luku - Hävitetty (in my top 30 favorite albums)
2. Suden uni
3. Voimasta ja kunniasta
4. Kivenkantaja
The main thing that bothers me about Verisäkeet is the ambiance. Track 4 has 3:20 worth of ambiance at the end. Track 5 has 3:50 worth of music, and 4:30 of ambiance, that's more than half the song! The other tracks have ambiance too, but at least they keep it under a minute. Ambiance usually doesn't bother me because I can skip through it, but when I'm skipping ten minutes of your album, maybe it's unnecessary. Verisäkeet is a 60-minute album stretched out to 70 minutes (just like Mr. Bungle's self-titled record and The Mars Volta's Frances the Mute).
Moonsorrow is my favorite band of all time and to be honest is Varjoina Kuljemme Kuolleiden Maassa my favorite album of them. But I really love all of their albums, for me it's more like in what kind of mood I am for what album to play.

Kivenkantaja is a masterpiece, maybe the best folk metal album.
Also definitely recommend Tulimyrsky EP, it's a half an hour long song, but I like it more than Hävitetty, for me it comes on the second place after Kivenkantaja.
I love the album, but imo Sagas by Equilibrium is on the same level, and maybe even above, but I hate how hard it is to decide, Both are literally beyond perfect
My favourite metal band of all time, you do great by them! but.... I know you avoided EPs, but the one song Tulimyrsky from the Album of the same name... Its like all the good in Verisakeet with all the good from Viides Luku, slamjammed into 1 30 minute masterpiece. Chills my dude.

Moonsorrow are easily one of my all time favorite black metal bands. One word for their discography to me EPIC

These album titles took me awhile to type out lol but yeah I think their whole Discog is solid
Yeah pretty flawless
I just started listening to this band about when this video was uploaded and I think they're awesome. I've heard their first 3 albums + jumalten aika and they're all very solid. No need to skip any tracks. I'm a black metal fan but this is my first band of this style (pagan/viking metal). The folk elements took a few listens to get used to and now I think the band mixes them with black and prog very well.

To be honest verisäkeet at b tier triggers me little bit. Some parts might be repeated too much but karhunkynsi is easily their best song. The black metal section slaps. Also Jotunheim is a masterpiece. The main melody almost brings me to tears.
I agree, Varjoina is more of a bland album, however Huuto is my favourite Moonsorrow song of all time.
I once again need to get into this band based on how you describe them... how do you make everything sound so damn appealing Icarus?!?! Also, when do you think part two to the septicflesh tier list will come out? Thanks

So hard to rank Moonsorrow albums, all of them are at least good and at best - awesome.

BTW i would note an album FFO Moonsorrow, i would say german version of the formula - Finsterforst - Rastlos
....Zum Tode Hin from Finsterforst is the most Moonsorrow-like album they have released IMO.

After ...20 years or so... I settled on Aurinko Ja Kuu for best song and the Kivenkantaya for best album. It doesnt have the best songs but its the most complete album imho.
Verisäkeet I wasn't very impressed when it first came out but it actually grew on me a lot over time. Jotunheim is a great if cheesy song
Jumalten Aika is easily my favorite, but Hävitetty and Verisäkeet are tied for second
