This to me is what Honda should be doing. Simple, light-weight, NA, and perfectly usable every day, yet punches above its weight on track (like the older R's).
No one is going to buy one, just look at the FiST sold good for the first few years and then barely moved anything in the latter years in the states. Sure they might have some problems but it's not even a reliability issue wise. Also lightweight FWD sports/performance cars have major problems that requires money to R&D out but by then it wouldn't be a sub 30k FWD car no more.
@@LeSwexy He means Ford Fiesta St, a car which weighs the same as the Fit but is a better performance car in every single way, without needed a $15,000 engine swap.
The Fit is the most underrated vehicle out there. I had a 2011 Fit, and the only reason I got rid of it was that I couldn't take it with when I moved last several years ago. I now have an 03 Wrangler that is my daily driver/overland build, but man do I miss that little Honda. An excellent little car!
Ichishima-san, the owner of Spoon Sports, had a segment on Hot Version explaining how well the Honda Jazz (JDM) has unique structural points that make it a worthy racecar. To modify this car at this high of a level is truly squeezing the full potential of this chassis. I can't wait to see more videos of this car, because I can already tell that this thing rips.
I have a CRZ suspension on my Fit. I transferred the sway from the Fit trailing arms to the CRZ trailing arms. It didn't come with the factory rear sway. I love the looks of 4 wheel disk and 5 lugs. Other than the rear brakes lines which you have to fab up. It just bolts on. Same for the front. If you use CRZ knuckles (which isn't required) You have to use a 2011 crosstour tie rods.

The fit is one of the few cars that is depreciating nicely so more people can get into them.

This is the second K swapped GE8 street car TCS has done and Seamus's attention to detail is staggering... for both street AND track cars (TCS did build Tom O'Gordon's K24 Fit as well). The biggest factor that is K swap fans often leave out in swapping these cars is retaining the CanBus system. Without it you loose comforts like AC, cruise, the immobilizer for anti-theft and so on.
Thank you! But credit for Toms k24 Fit goes to our good friend Brian Gillespie at Hasport! We built our TCS Racing K24 GE8 Fit that we used in AER though 🙂
@@benfrank1583 Fits are indeed CanBus cars. The audio is great, but the mic was too close to the camera. It amplified the mirror slap really badly. (Alternatively, use a camera with quieter mirror, but that shouldn't be necessary.)
This is a great Fit, the swap and mods are simple, clean and timeless. Although to challenge the statement that this is the best Fit in the world. Keeping it closer to home and using North American GE8 fits as the parameters, it either needs to go to Esteban's full Spoon K swapped Fit, Rick's full Mugen K swap Fit, or Connor's Canadian full RS Mugen Fit. If you don't know these cars it's a real shame because they are probably the best that N.A. has to offer with respect to Japan and South East Asia where the Fit's go even harder having closer access to Japanese parts. Again this is a great Fit, but there are too many fits who are going even harder who have not just some of the details dialed in, but every detail dialed in. Would love an update on how things are progressing.
Estebans car is definitely a nice car and hes a nice guy but none of those cars are complete and uncompromising. Jdm fiberglass hype parts and gutted interiors dont make something the best. As with most, you give Japan(japan inspired) far too much credit in regards to building cars (I used to as well) but aside from styling and original manufacture Japan really cant hold a candle to the US/AUS/UK/GER Motorsport builders.
@@TailoredChassisSolutions It's beyond hype parts and fiberglass and gutted interiors. The prompt is asking is this the best "type R" honda Fit, and the short answer is no, but not for the reasons of lacking rare parts it's because Honda already answered the question and other's have adopted that answer. The RS Honda fit was the closest thing any region got to a Type R, however it was largely cosmetic as Honda didn't want to invest in a performance option for their economy car. So in Type R fashion, which usually includes an alternate exterior the RS is the answer as designed by Honda, and with the addition of Mugen creating their add on parts you know know exactly what a Type R would look like. You don't have to guess. But that does leave the performance side, the engine, the suspension, the braking and the drivetrain etc. A K-swap is the obvious, while complicated answer, and that's where this Fit in the video hit the nail on the head, but it's missing the other half of the coin. As for your other statement, I agree some of the fastest and best cars in the world are from the countries you mentioned. However, there isn't a Japanese cart enthusiast alive who doesn't regard Japanese builder with the highest reverence as they are the community the rest of the import community is emulating. So it's not an issue of giving them too much credit, it's that they are the authority on JDM inspired builds they are the source material everyone is mimicking. If you want to hybridize the build into an east meets west style that's perfectly fine and even encouraged with the rapid globalization of the car scene, but referring again to the prompt you won't reach a type R status or replication without being influenced by the community and culture that created it, which is designed and refined in Japan. If the goal is to make a great and remarkable Fit, you achieved that. But if the goal is really to make a true Type R and be the best Fit in the world (on US soil), then this is still in progress, because there are others out there who have reach this point and gone further. It doesn't mean this car can't one day be the best, but it's hard to disregard the others who have sacrificed just as much to get where they are.
