    I have this type of engine in my Daihatsu Cuore/Mira L276. It made over 70.000km in 2 years, including very much high speed (high for a 3 banger) Autobahn driving in Germany. Fuel consumption is very low, sound is great and there's no end in sight! The Japanese know how to build engines. ❤

    I'm back watching a strip-down due to having my 08 diagnosed with 'lack of oil-change' induced bottom end failure. [ after getting Toyo Proxes and full coil-overs for my car ] Time I had a new engine and am doing research to rebuild the one I take out ;-)

    Interesting video. We recently got my partner's daughter a Citroen C1 with the same or similar engine so it's interesting to see the engine being dismantled and parts being identified. Quite instructional, thanks!

    Thanks for sharing! I was wondering where it was stuck. I got it out eventually. The one with the stud was easy, but the bold was just horrible! Took me 2 hours. In the end I shortened the 10mm socket to get some more space to move, but it won;t get back. Perhaps only the stud one... :-)

    I remember reading somewhere that MK2 bug engines have oil squirters under the piston whereas these ones dont

    • @Thatsilveraygo
      @Thatsilveraygo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure, I know the MK2 engine has dual VVTI though instead of the inlet camshaft only, wish I knew earlier but perhaps on the next build

      @@Thatsilveraygo yeah but they also have the manifold build into the head like the new BMWs so i dont know how good that will be for boost.I dont know if the blocks are interchangeable.

    Do these motors use hydraulic valve lifters or do they need re shiming every few years?

    I've a 2008 Toyota Yaris 1.0 powered by this engine with 230,000 km. It's quite solid for my daily City driving except for its high oil consumption. What is your advice about this problem? I survive by topping up oil....

    • @Thatsilveraygo

      Piston rings may be worn or valve stem seals

    Hi,
    Lovely video. Quick question. About to change my head gasket on a similar engine. What do i need to remove in order to get to it?
    Oil sump? Necessary to remove the timing chain too?
    As i dont have an engine stand is it possible to change the head gasket while the engine in the car or that's just absolute nonsense?
    Many thanks. Cannot wait for part 2✌️

    My friend what engine oil you use in your engine? Its bright new!! What sae and brand? Iam using 5w-30 fully synthetic but i have a huge consumption of oil about 700 ml per 1 k ,and iam gonna put 5w-40 hopping to see better oil consumption...🤞

    • @Thatsilveraygo
      @Thatsilveraygo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This engine has 0 miles on it, but I use 5w30 as intended for the first generation of the 1KR-FE, the MK2 preface-lift is meant to have 0w20 and face-lift 0w16 as does the MK3

    I have an Aygo and would like it to be quicker, is there any rational reason you have not started with a 1KR-VET 97BHP setup? [ scratches head ]

    • @Thatsilveraygo
      @Thatsilveraygo  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very good question and I have a simple answer, it's only in import vehicles so the only way to get the engine is import the car or buy the engine from a dealership, neither sat well with me as the cost was way too high for an extra 30bhp which I managed to make without a turbo

    Which generation/year t-sport is the injectors from? Do they fit stock, or do you need to modify them to fit? I have an IQ that would need some more oumph. Found some other video a while ago where the guy mounted bigger injectors and got more torque out of the engine. Thing is he needed to modify the injectors to fit, which I'd rather avoid if I can.
    Good job with the video man! Well done.

    • @Thatsilveraygo
      @Thatsilveraygo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1st gen, wouldn't fit them without tuning as the injection timing may remain the same and could dump more fuel unnecessarily
