#minecraft #snapshot - เกม
The Technical video will not be out until tomorrow evening - there's not enough time for me to complete it today, so it'll have to wait until after work tomorrow.
Looking forward to hearing it from someone who knows what they're talking about :)
(Most people covering the snapshot gloss over the technical features but the cookies and transfer packets are so cool!)
Considering the massive amount of changes, that's not surprising. We'll be here when it's ready!
Thank you for all your hard work!! These are my favourite snapshot explainer videos :D
Don't stress yourself!
Transfer packets are literally a game changer. People don't really seem to appreciate it so I'll be extra loud, thank you so much for the amazing changes for mapmakers recently Mojang!
Yooo it's the Soko! The real one holy...
It's actually insane how many changes for mapmakers there have been in the last few months! Super excited!
Finally! I don't need to build a bungeecord
can you explain what is the transfer packets use for ?@@exomn-4566
spawn chunk command is a godsend for server owners and modpack creators that want to cater to players with lower end systems
Thanks as always for the concise update video.
Armadillos scaring spiders seems really cool, giving players ways to manipulate a mob we previously couldnt before. Adding them to the badlands is nice too.
4:43
Now I wonder if the same would be applied to Blazes, since it wasn't a design choice for the Breeze.
That would make them terrifying.
@@Master_Brutus they should be, they shoot fireballs at you, and don't forget other terrifying game elements like cave sounds and the warden.
pretty sure MishaGold is talking about the still incorrectly textured bottom-face of the "rod" parts of the blaze, which just reuse the top-face like the breeze's did (before it was fixed in this snapshot)
edit: you can see it at 5:30, Lime conveniently shows off an upside-down blaze 😜
@@TheiBunny that's because they fixed my bug report in this snapshot, coincidentally i used a blaze as my example in it :)
I think being able to trade broken armor is quite smart, also love the new look for the armadillo!
Love the changes to the wolf collar and the new pangolin texture. But _please_ I hope Mojang does something about its atrocious HP and defense stats-in the real world these things are almost indestructible when rolled up into a ball.
Perhaps give it defense points while curled up.
@@Master_BrutusIf it not in the base game I'm going to write a datapack that gives them invincibility for as long as they're volvolating.
The new armadillo texture is somehow even cuter. I like how it scares the spiders away. It gives it an extra feature like cats/creepers and dogs/skeletons.
Will the armadillo have a drop? I think a 1 scute drop (like how sheep give 1 wool) would be nice. It would give players a keepsake if a "pet" armadillo dies. I think players would still prefer the brush the same way shears are preferred for wool.
Mojang no longer gives real life mobs useful drops on death. The closest thing since polar bears is foxes dropping emeralds. Correct me if I’m wrong.
@@magic00squirrel you can give her food and you can have emerald without killing.
1:53 This is an awesome change and makes me like armadillos a lot more! Little interactions like this make it feel more baked into the game. Now all I hope is for the dog armor to be customizable in some way (maybe dyeable? or able to be given armor trims? or even enchanted?)
Enchantable wolf armor would be so cool. With proper enchants it will make your favorite dog almost unkillable by mobs and accidents but at the same time you wouldn't be able to create imbalance wolf army since enchanting every wolf armor will take a lot of time and resources (especially early game)
Hope there is an option to make old worlds not to change to the new spawn chunks system without cheating
you could NBT edit a file in the world's folder(if you dont want to do it ingame), but do agree the option on load up would be nice.
I agree that this option should be configurable in the UI.
However:
Define "cheating." Is enabling a datapack or editing server.properties cheating? If you look at the instructions for enabling the experimental features datapack in an existing world, it's *significantly* more involved than what is required here.
Unnecessary when you can just change a value with a command :P
@@tonTeufel "Without cheating" - if it defaults to the new lower one, then using a command isnt a valid solution
@@tonTeufel No one mentioned servers? I meant for singleplayer worlds
i like the spiders being scared of the armadillos. it makes them feel more integrated into the game
Thanks slicedlime for your incredible snapshot videos. They are always much more concise and comprehensive than other TH-camrs and you deserve lots more views and subscribers for it.
Also at 2:15 THAT'S MY BUG REPORT!
5:26 AND THAT'S MINE :D
Cool! Thanks for reporting the bugs 🥳
0:36 thank you mojang for making a change that is an OPTION! I swear if feels like nine times out of ten they make a change and are just like "well deal with it that's how you have to play the game now"
It used to be _10?!_ Jeez, if I knew it was that much I probably woulda put more stuff in em haha. The new, smaller size is what I sort of always assumed it was around (but never really bothered putting much in them as previously stated)
Love this snapshot so much. Transfer Packets are a game changer. Now the only thing missing is /camera. The day this gets added on Java, i’ll literally be the happiest person in the world.
man that spawn chunks change did a wonder for my world's performance, went from 40-50 MSPT to 5-10 👀and i no longer have to move my massive animal farm away
I really like the change to wolf collars, it’s so insignificant but it looks so much nicer
Armadillos scaring spiders is such a neat concept! I love it when new features have a plethora of interactions with various things
When creating a new map, the game could give you two options, "performance mode" where spawn chunks are reduced or disabled, simulation distance is reduced and more; go "full mode" where all functions are active and previously made performance changes are undone, such as the random tick no longer depending on the player's presence. Of course, all of these would simply be gamerules, but having this as a direct question and most of player understanding what it means is very different than having to go to the cheat menu.
Oh, I thought the 4 grate thing was intentional, since grates obviously consist of way less material and it would make sense if stonecutters are more effinint, just like cut copper...
0:22 That's such a cool render!
Thanks for always uploading these update showcases, makes it really easy to share with others :D
I love all these changes! And dang, your videos are so good! Thank you so much for them!
The wolf armor still needs to be stronger. And the wolf AI needs improved too. Heck, we just need a full on wolf update so that we can actually be comfortable bring them on adventures.
And we should be able to pet them. That's perhaps the *most* important thing.
I want to be able to dye the wolf armor.
Absolutely loving the armadillo changes.
The spawn chunk change feature is obviously great but, does Mojang even listen to feedback? What about the overwhelmingly negative feedback for the Crafter and Copper Bulb?
What do you mean overwhelmingly negative??? Sure some of the changes to the bulb weren't as nice or convenient but they are still really awesome features. also yes, they do LISTEN to feedback. The only reason snapshots exist is so they can see what the community thinks. That's listening. Now are they going to add every feature and request that people want? Of course not, minecrafts already so-so game balance would be quickly ruined if everything everyone wanted was added.
breeze: gets bottom of rod fixed
blaze: what about me? :(
wait so is the mlg water bucket harder now?
Great change to armorers - if the armor has to be full durability, no one will ever do the trade. No worries about abusing it because you give up your enchantments when selling it and there’s a limit to how quickly you can wear through armor anyways.
I love the changes to the armadillo!! Super cute and fun, I can’t wait to play with them!
You cover the snapshot the best. Straight to the point and no sharing your thoughts. Armando looks so much better with it's eyes on the side.
The feedback site doesn't work for me but the spawnchunks change is great
Oh thank god the spawn chunks were decreased. I just started making an aquarium full of fish near the spawn of my world and I literally stopped playing when I found out that every mob in a dang million-mile-radius of spawn was CONSTANTLY loaded, because I didn't want to have to break my huge aquarium I just made nor deal with a laggy world. I'll probably start playing again when this update comes out.
good boys have never looked gooder
Thank you, slicedlime
That's alot o limes
spider run away from armadillo is crazy😭
Great video again, big like for the spawn chunk demonstration, very cool and fancy way to showcase it!
*A suggestion for Minecraft:*
Since the new "tick" command is added, it would be great to add a new gamerule called "GameTicksPerRedstoneTick". By default, it would be set to 2, so if there are 20 game ticks in 1 second, there will be 10 redstone ticks in 1 second.
For example, if someone does "/gamerule GameTicksPerRedstoneTick 4", there will be 1 redstone tick in 4 game ticks.
I know it will be hard to implement it in bedrock at first, but it would be a great feature, and it will make decreasing the copper bulb delay easier for the Mojang team.
(Mojang can just set the Copper Bulb delay to 0.5 Redstone Ticks and for example;
if GameTicksPerRedstoneTick is 2 which is the default, the unoxidized copper bulb will have a 0.5*2 = 1 game tick delay,
if GameTicksPerRedstoneTick is set to 1, instead of the delay being 0.5*1 = 0.5 game ticks which is impossible, it can round down to the previous integer so the copper bulb is instant if GameTicksPerRedstoneTick is set to 1.
*Copper bulb delays that I think will be the best:*
*Unoxidized (normal): 0.5* Redstone Ticks
*Exposed (lightly weathered): 1* Redstone Tick
*Weathered: 1.5* Redstone Ticks
*Oxidized:* I think it should be *random* ( *50% 2* Redstone Ticks, *50% 3* Redstone Ticks)
^ and they should all change with the GameTicksPerRedstoneTick gamerule.
^ if the final delay after it's multiplied by GameTicksPerRedstoneTick isn't an integer, it should round down to the previous integer.
There are no actual "redstone ticks ". It's just term used by community.
SL, again, thanks for these videos. My school aged child is now getting interested in MC game mechanics because of you. I'm sorry people are often mean online.
thank you for these updates!
wolf armor & armadillo look better. (Also thx for high quality, detail, & concise video)
I absolutely love the new armadillo's look
I'm excited for the spawn chunks changes. 32 chunks here I come
There is a feedback Discord??? where can you find this?
So you can still spam one armadillo for all the dog armor you'd ever need, thereby still not fixing the issue of a lack of longevity
Thank you !
Yoo, snapshot!!!
Thanks!
Please don't let the copper grate 'consistency' "bug" fix stick around, that makes it inconsistent with every other copper block
What?
It was a bug. When crafting in a crafting table the conversion rate was 1:1 but in the stone cutter it was 1:4, now it's been changed to 1:1. Plus it's not like copper is hard to get in the first place.
That was not a bug, it was intentional like every other copper block being a 1:4 in the stonecutter, as they still are in spite of the grate change@@FierceDIO
@@SuperSonicPyro well I never use copper for anything so I didn't know but that feels wrong. How can you get 4 cut copper from 1 block? They'll probably change that as well if they changed the grate. Or revert it if people complain enough but I doubt they'll actually listen.
5:06 SOMEONE FRICKIN HELP HIM HES HAVING A STROKE
Can you clarify if the intended behavior for trading items with data is that an item with data can be autofilled to the base situation, or will the trade require the same data?
e.g. with the failed demonstration, would a trade for normal stone allow stone named "pet rock" to be autofilled, or does the trade also need to have the item be named "pet rock"?
3:11 I really like this mechanic, but I feel like Armadillo Shields are too easy to get. Will this be somehow changed or balanced later?
I was just looking at your channel to see if you had released this video ❤
The blog post says 2x2, but your video says 3x3 chunks for the spawn area! Although it looks like 2x2 in your video? Just letting you know, thanks for all you do dude. 😊
It's a (square) radius of 2, so a 3x3 area. A radius of 1 would be only the center chunk.
the new armadillo texture is so much better.
hey in sutitles at 0:44 it says chunkj area rather than chunk area
Doh - thanks!
np! @@slicedlime
Thank you sliced for transfer packets, hypixel finally could be on servers in eu. What took so long to add it?
What really bugs me about the armadillo is its rolled up position, it should definitely have its head tucked in under him with its ears sticking out a bit and not looking forward.
the fact that it doesn’t actually roll up is so infuriating
One of the devs tweeted that they're going to improve the armadillo's animations, so there's still hope.
No way, armadillo’s have a use now
I already know the redstone farming community is excited for this one
could they fix the texture on the bottom of the blaze seen at 5:27, it would be just as easy as fixing the breeze's one
when are they gonna revert the copper bulb changes?
If I have a ould world and updat it wen this update comes out do I have 3 chunks as well in my spawn Chunks to?? I think it wold be a good update.
PLEASE tuck the head and arms in when the armadillo is curled up it looks so weird rn
How do you do the shots that follow entities?
I have a custom mod for camera moves that we use to make these videos.
@@slicedlime Very cool!
As if Mojang gives a damn about feedback. Look how they reverted copper bulb change.
I love the additional spawn chunk controls but for casual players I really see no reason to not have spawn chunk radius at zero by default. Though I do hope there is a way to prevent older worlds from having the setting changed when loaded in the new update.
they likely know that a lot of people (notably bedrock players, but idk what the spawn chunks there are like or how/if we will see them changing) are proper hardasses about not """cheating""""/utilising gamerules, and i imagine this is why they didn't want to default it to zero
additionally, as its become such an important farm mechanic, keeping some of the spawn chunks active makes delving into that functionality friendlier for younger/newer players. 3 is a good balance tbh!
Wait, are armadillos being fully implemented in 1.20.5?
Apparently, yeah.
I like it.
I hope they will make the wolf armor dyable, as well as let us reinforce it and give some ornaments to look cooler. Just one version without anything is big disappointment. I also like that they made armadillos scare spiders. Another minor, but nice feature to have.
As always Your video is great. Thanks so much!
Why can't Mojang add more breeds of wolves/dogs?
Why are the armadillos pink? At least they arent shulker colored anymore, but the new color is cherry blossom pink. Can we dye the dog armor?
Wolf pants
I think the front of the current armadillo's face is a bit too flat-looking, and this weird "checkerboard" pattern it has on it doesn't help. If their face wasn't so wide I guess it wouldn't feel so wrong.
What about copper bulbs
2:31 🤨
waow
4:51 So less. Less grates.
Will datapacks one day eventually be able to let players add blocks to the game?
This is exactly what is already being worked on in the background xD... Nobody knows when it releases, but there is evidence that it is being worked on
most likely
my my, thy must hast thou whopzoilustro gercandowark
why are Spawn Chunk a thing?
I don't like the color change for dillos and armor

Thank you so much for the spawn chunks change! This is a much better default for a single player world, and having the value adjustable for power players and servers is immensely more helpful. I never understood why update 1.14 changed the spawn chunks to be so huge; I understood the recentering choice, just not the choice to make it gigantic.
This is an amazingly helpful and overdue change!
Question slicedlime how often do all of the devs or some of the devs read the feedback site?
Hi (first :p ima start a whole blog) Will there be Breeze Rods or something like that? Also BRING BACK THE OLD BULB GOD DAMN IT
copper bulb
Is there some plan for Mojang to add Custom Block
Yes... This is being worked on... But no one knows when it will come out :/ hopefully soon
I think the payment amount from villagers with armour missing some durability should scale with the durability of the armour (100% durability = 100% max payout, 25% durability = 25% payout)
how does that work if you're trading armour for amour?
@@emryspaperart do those trades exist? I guess you could do the same but with durability but I think it gets muddy there
The official thread on the copper bulb nerf is the most voted ever aside from chat reports mojang created threads.
We haven't forgotten about the copper bulb.
While the developers clearly didn't have a choice about implementing chat reports, the same definitely doesn't apply to copper bulbs.
What is the point of adding a feature for redstoners, asking for feedback, and ignoring feedback given in your official feedback site?
Game balance. Mojang don't consider the 1 tick delay to be balanced compared with the effort required to set it up. besides the copper bulb is still a really cool feature. A smaller, simplified T-Flip flop plus an interesting light source that fits well with copper is always appreciated.
I ask you this. Do you think 'feedback' means "add everything we want regardless". Feedback is feedback. Whether you take it is up to your (mojangs) judgement. Would I like the changes to be reverted? sure. But the Minecraft community needs to calm down.
guess we have to make tons of chunk loaders instead of building farms in the spawn chunks :/
Reason for snapshot existence: Feedback
* Everyone gives feedback *
* Mojang ignores * 😂
Minecraft players really expecting mojang to change the game to fit exactly what they like
@@enderallygolem I think you mean "Minecraft player expecting to revert a change that dampered a good feature that they can easily reverse
not immediately replying to everything publicly doesn't mean it's "being ignored" fyi
@@emryspaperart They're never addressed bud?? They're ignored completely. FYI. Where in my comment did I say they never "IMMEDIATELY" respond. Twisting my words. The feedback they get rarely ever makes it into the full release 🤷🏼♂️
@@enderallygolem You're completely exaggerating the point. Most of the feedback isn't "GAMECHANGING", it's simple things that could make the game better for everyone. Things that a lot of people would want. And they LITERALLY ASK FOR FEEDBACK, but rarely listen to anyone. You can't expect the minecraft community to ask for nothing when Mojang themselves ask for feedback. You have some weird logic.
Sorry if the comment I sent seems SPAM. I was really looking forward to seeing her video.
I won't share anymore feedback. After you (plural, mojang) ignored all feedback for the bulb I do not see the point anymore.
Edit: I won't respond to each individual message.
A) of course Im refering to mojang as a whole.
B) what is feedback good for if they just ignore it - fuck them.
C) And yes I will make each and every individual dev know of this fact for eternity every chance I get until I hear that they support the 1gt bulb.
D) all arguments regarding: consistency, parody (parity) or good game design have been refuted time and time again I won't repeat them here.
Do you seriously think the decision was his to make?
Mojang did screw the bulb over but it wasn't lime's choice to make
Lime almost certainly has no input into the changes made to the copper bulb, so it’s no wonder your feedback was ignored
