China needs intellectuals like Jin Keyu to bring China's message of mutual benefits and win-win cooperation to the West and debunk the lies and manipulations of western medias against China. To bring her message across require good command of English and deep understanding of China's peaceful and respectful intentions.
China is not interested in becoming athe number one hegemonic power. She just want to improve her people's living standards, safety and happiness and welcome other countries like India, Indonesia, Brazil etc to join their family of harmonious well being.

I used to agree with the fact that China was a peaceful, largely introspective, civilizational country; however of late, I can't agree to it as an Indian. India is not a western crony. We don't sanction Iran or Russia, we dont give blind support to Israel, we are independent and we haven't forgotten what it's like to be poor as we still continue on our own form of Chinese miracle to alleviate poverty. We share thousands of Kms of land border and lately, PLA's actions have been aggressive, unilaterally changing decades of accepted practices between the two countries. We respected a growing prospering China but the actions lately are very hegemonic and have changed the hearts and minds of 1.43 billion peoole. That was the biggest own goal I have ever seen. China could use a friendly growing market of a billion+ people instead it created a billion+ people suspicious of the regime.

What other country can be more aggressive than India, India's shameless mouth is better than any other country, there is no credibility to speak of.

Great conversation. I agree with most of the explanations. Let's not forget that China's economic model is actually very similar to Japan's post-war model. The phenomenal growth of Japan's economy ended with the disastrous financial reform and deregulation. Once Japan lost her financial independence, the economy could no longer defend against the corrupt financial system of the West (Central Banks). If China makes a similar financial mistake (reform), that will be the end of China's success story as well. That said, I believe most countries could do well provided if they could re-establish their financial independence and win against dollar hegemony.

Thank you Professor Jin Keyu and Brian Wang.
The Taiwan issue is the last piece of colonialism and will be resolved in due course.
It is time that Western imperialism and colonialism finally come to an end. That’s why politicians in the West are hysterical and delusional and desperate to stop the rise of China. The so called “coming collapse of China”is, in reality, the coming collapse of imperialism and colonialism, or the collapse of global hegemony.
For the last 500 hundred years before the beginning of the collapse of colonialism in the 1950s, Europe had been colonizing the rest of the world, mainly for its endless resources and cheap labor to feed its own economic growth. The West had been fighting wars among themselves for colonies and control of raw materials and energy. Ever since the end of the WW2, independence movements across the globe had first set free countries in Asia, followed by Latín America, the Middle East and lastly Africa. The West is, now, no longer able to get free resources or labor or land, to support its dominance over developing countries, or the global South in general.
Under these circumstances, Europe, or the West including Japan, is losing its own economic independence; they are relying heavily or existentially on the support of the U.S. In the meantime, on the other hand, the global South with the cooperation among the BRICS COUNTRIES like China, Russia, Brazil, South Africa and so on, are focusing on their own economic growth and social development. The new world order is emerging with multipolarity and international democracy for shared prosperity. The West is feeling the heat and threat of its hegemonic collapse. That’s why they are following the marching order of the U.S., in its proxy war in Ukraine against Russia. The European countries have become totally dependent on the U.S. for its resources and strength. Without their old colonies, they submit themselves now completely to the hegemony of the U.S.
However, with the united front between China and Russia, the global south is awakening to a new world order. They see their hope and prosperity in China’s BRI as well as the strategies of the BRICKS. That’s why the West can not defeat Russia in Ukraine because it doesn’t have the unlimited resources it used to enjoy with their colonies gone forever.
The bottom line is how can the West or NATO expect to beat the united front between Russia and China in the long run without getting into a nuclear Armhcsageddon?!
It is a self-indulgent delusion that the West under the coercion of the United States would be able somehow to stop or contain the rise of China with so-called small yard with high fences. It is a self defeating hypothesis. The U.S. and China should be partners and friends instead of enemies or competitors, for the benefits of the humanity and for a better world for all.

    Too long winded and verbose.
The questioner should stop showing how clever he is and limit his verbosity,
Some points can be made shortly and simpler without adding a lot of unnecessary issues to them.
The question is how Keyu see the Chinese economy is being conducted and what the main issues are going forward; also how it is affecting the responses of the west.
The Chinese strategic policies have remained the same since Deng Xiaoping and it is review, reforms and innovatively finding new and realistic pathways.
What these pathways are, are clear and there is no need to overcook the policies going forward to deal with them.
The problem with trying to look cleverer than western intellectuals is display a cleverness tentative to well trained monkeys.
Let’s be like the Chinese leaders; keep your head down when you know the solutions and showed results when you have acted. The world continues to admire and dazzle by Chinese results and achievement.
    Deng’s dictums are still relevant.
Never mind the colour of the cat so long it catches the mice.
Carry a big stick and act quietly.
Cross the river by feeling the stones at the bottom.
They remain relevant especially with the west fearful of Chinese progress and doing everything to impede it.

国进民退 has been so miscontrued as "powerful state but weak every man", the SOE provides far more public goods through university, electric grid, rail lines, infrastructure vs private companies. Even for the private companies it is the state policy that ensures monopoly issue do not form, it's how Bytedance, PDD, Hoyoverse came to be. Any semblance of competition in US is immediately snatched up by the FAAMG.

Chinese government can change and adapt new policies within a fortnight. Oppositely, governments from the Western countries will take a much longer time to get through new policies . China’s economy therefore will be influenced by uncertainty through both internally and externally factors .

So now. It is Democracy or Communism or Commucracy.
China is now , in my defination is more of Commucracy ( mixtures of Democracy & Communism). It works.
Which is more latent ?. Accordingly, which one has more meaning, obviously it is Commucracy. More meaning mean more qualities ( latent ambiguity). Instead of staying in the ( one ) direction of one meaning. Commucracy is more accommodative & more latent. More lethal for goodness ( not harms).
Both Democracy & Communism were founded in the west. Therefore, born of Capitalist & Socialist system. The west has adopted the Democratic Capitalist & the Communist Socialist mainly to the Russian & China ( early 19th centuary ) . The arrival of Communism/Socialist was in the backdrops of failure of earlier system back then. Russia was an Economic powerful country b4 1900 but it failed. Similarly, the countries surround had a fair share of failures during that period.
In the early years, Socialist had not performed well but it was China who bring Socialist to the next level by incorporated with Capitalist , a mixture of Socialist & Capitalist under Commucracy. It explodes when Public, Private, State, Individuals combine & form a latent force, whereas, Democratic Capitalist with limited meaning , enjoys it latency in the beginning has slowly & gradually lethalgized as it lost it vibrancy due to limited economic space ( size & others factors, matter ) & its main resources ( fuel) for Democratic Capitalist were undermined & i.e. Monetary. Capitalist dwell or function well with Monetary. Otherwise, they'll descent into Socialist at one stage ( if Democracy is not adamantly protected).
China will continue to do well with its myriads of qualifies provided that the world views Economic developments are a collective interest for all. No one shall undermine it for the sake of humanity. Humanism is of utmost important but is the world are looking in that sense. Obviously, as the the world are dependent on each others, slow down somewhere ( more specific - EU, sanctions, barriers, etc) will definitely resonate the world over.
However, the foundamental qualities of China shall remained as such.
In short - The true fact is , every one & every countries should & must realise that the US or the West alone would not be able to provide & take care of this world or the well-being of this world ( since the resources are limited - even if the west are with good intention but they simply can't as resources constraints) . This world is massive & with so many countries with unlimited desires for developments. Please come to the senses. Allowing China to partake & develope accordingly for that China would be able to lend a hand in caring about other countries. Study & analyse for yourselves whether what i said is true or not. Plenty of references. China, is indeed a complementary to the needs of the world's developments as the West by its size not sufficiently resourced . The extra needed resources must there4 provided by China. Mind you, there are over 190 countries, could one take care all of them.
    For better world
    Bang.
Disclaimer - based on value judgement & for academic purposes only.

Capitalism is when a society is organized to prioritize capital. China's reform permitted free market, but is still not a society that prioritizes the interests of capital. You can say it's not purely socialist as conceived by theory, fair, but to say it's just capitalist is.... Deeply ignorant. Socialism is NOT the absence of a market economy.

It is all a fear of a loss of hegemony and control of global order as perceived by the U.S. and perpetuated by propaganda at many different levels. Ideally, cooperation rather than confrontation is the only real solution to the current impasse. 😢
